Hi Larissa Mum is fine and i don't think she can get any fatter! Her actual 1st due date is on the 6th of this month not the third so please don't worry! sorry i hadn't actually given you a date! ETA: sorry.....I hadn't thought to look at the first page to see if you had put her and a date up!

Chris IS the best ortho vet as far as most of the racing population but is also known as "chris the thief" because of his prices. he knows this and laughs with most of us. I don't trust Sandown (only because of what has happened to a few of my dogs, but i do know people who use them and are happy) which is why I use Des Fegan (also a greyhound vet and taught alot by Gannon). If you can afford him Kirty, Chris is the best to go to. I know of a friends dog who broke his hock in a race (this is normally a career ending injury) and Chris actually did his surgery and he raced and won many after the surgery.

I have a girl here "Lacey" and she has a bent back leg....everyone said to take her leg off but I choose to wait and she is now 3yrs and is fine. Yes she walks kinda funny and you can see it is obviously not "normal" but she is happy and healthy and in no pain. She was hurt by her mother at 4 weeks and was crippled with nerve damage and couldn't move around for a few weeks. with some physio and patience she is a very much loved pet. I took her to Des Fegan in Cranbourne, he knows me and knew i wanted other options than putting a 4 week old pup down. I took her as my payment for whelping the litter down and have never regretted it. If you would like his number i am happy to give it to you, just pm me.

we are expecting our second litter of whippets on the 12th of June! I am pretty positive she is in pup, will know for sure in a few weeks! that or she needs a serious diet!

The only time i had seen anything like this was years ago when i had bought a bowl (from a shop kinda like the op shops here in Australia) to use for my puppies to eat out of but didn't realize it was a lead bowl. After a few vet visits and finally figuring out what the problem was, Once i took the bowl away from them in time they could all see fine. Only the smallest one had a small dot on her eye that never went away. She could see but not perfectly out of that one eye. I think they had some medication too... sorry it was many many years ago.... :D

Congratulations everyone on all the impending babies! I'll let you all know how many miss fatty has hopefully only a few! She should be popping soon.... everybody remember to put up all the cute puppy pics once they are on the ground!

we are hoping for only 5 or 6 but I'm a bit worried..... She is only 18.3 inches and dad is only 19.75 inches. Neither are very big but she looks huge!

We have puppies coming! Mum looks like she's swallowed a basketball and still has just over 2 weeks to go! We'll soon have lots of whippet puppies again! Will try to get a photo today of little miss fatty :D

I agree wilooka. i will have to re think some of my normal entries to some of the summer shows as my normal entry cost is $50 a show, so a lovely weekend like cohuna costs $200 or more depending on who all i bring! when we went this year and last our dogs were quite comfortable. i bring the generator plus 4 big stand fans, a fridge....the dogs definitely didn't suffer! i would think that almost everyone of us would come prepared for our dogs!
