I am an ex-serving ADF member myself so I can truly speak from the heart how even the most littlest thing from home means EVERYTHING! My brother is still in the Army as a Chinook pilot and last year his helicopter was shot down by enemy fire, thankfully in this instance everyone on board escaped injury. Thankyou so much, it is stories like this that truly lift the heart and spirit - not only to the soldier involved but to all his platoon mates which I am sure he is sharing his story, photos and excitement.

Good Thoughts For Penny Whippet Please
Get Whippet replied to Kirislin's topic in General Dog Discussion
She does a bit. How old is Prinny and do you know her breeding, they might be related. Penny is a pedigree but there's not much around these days with her bloodlines. She is getting on in years but I dont think she looks her age. Not much pedigree in poor Prinny I'm afraid Prinny (Princess - her name already) is my latest rescue from Blacktown Pound last month after being surrendered by her family. She is 10 years old and as it turns out, litter sister to DOLer Griff's boy! Hope Penny is feeling better xx -
Good Thoughts For Penny Whippet Please
Get Whippet replied to Kirislin's topic in General Dog Discussion
How Kirislin, how awful for you and Penny but we glad to hear she is OK. In the heat of the moment, I'm sure many of us would do exactly the same thing. Me, all the whippies and of course Pig send you BIG (gentle) hugs and kisses xx Miss Penny looks a little similar to my Prinny girl :D -
Poll- How Many Dogs And If You Work Full Time
Get Whippet replied to jazawayaya's topic in General Dog Discussion
7 dogs at the moment (but can fluctuate anywhere between 6-10) and I work fulltime, live alone, no children etc. But.. I do have one mother who insists on 'visiting' her fur-grandkids during the day to give them treats, check on welfare, give another treat, take coats off/put coats on depending on my morn or night shift, and give more treats, and when I'm lucky she puts some lovely mum home-cooked meals in the fridge so I don't have to cook when I get home -
Mdba Pacers Need A Hand In Canberra Area.
Get Whippet replied to Steve's topic in General Dog Discussion
Steve, Happy to help out with this one if required, as long as he is dog friendly, not a huge barker or fence jumper etc (I have no cats). The only thing is that I'm up in Campbelltown but happy to meet halfway if it helps. Let me know if needed. -
I LOVE it!!

I only have a list of the most used/popular tariff numbers used for Customs & Quarantine items - but I know there is a number for 'no description" but it's not on my list and do you think I can remember it?? ETA: How soon do you need it, I can check complete list when I get back to work.

Depending on work etc I would be happy to help with transporting Bully to new foster carer if it helps. Chin up L. xx

Excellent, I'll throw a post in for good luck. Have a great night to all that are going. xx

Anyone Thinking Of Buying A Houndbag?
Get Whippet replied to 4 Paws's topic in General Dog Discussion
They all must be on the ball today as I sent another email about my faulty bag and got an almost immediate response too AND a phone call to my personal mobile at 8:45pm this evening. The lady from Houndbag was lovely, extremely apologetic and "flabbergasted" that my emails have not been responded to. A new bag will be posted to me first thing Monday -
Anyone Thinking Of Buying A Houndbag?
Get Whippet replied to 4 Paws's topic in General Dog Discussion
OMG, thankyou so much. OK, a bit disappointed that I got a faulty bag but I am so relieved at the same time... I thought I was going insane, I was even crying at myself at one stage because I couldn't work it out! Now that I know it's an actual fault (and just not me), I'll shoot off another email to Houndbag today. Cheers everyone, I should've come to DOL sooner  -
I always think... Snappy White Fing

Anyone Thinking Of Buying A Houndbag?
Get Whippet replied to 4 Paws's topic in General Dog Discussion
Get Whippet, not sure I can help you... mine definitely had a metal ring and the plastic clasp to put it all together... can you send a photo of yours? Thankyou, any help would be muchly appreciated even if just to learn my bag is different or made incorrectly. Just took some photos.. hope they all make sense? I feel so embarrassed I can't even work out a bag strap  -
Anyone Thinking Of Buying A Houndbag?
Get Whippet replied to 4 Paws's topic in General Dog Discussion
HI, I got mine (but through Houndbags direct) but was hoping someone could help me re: the strap... I am having a serious blond moment! I know it sounds stupid but I just can't work it out! I have the long strap 'lead' and the shorter handle 'collar', the bag itself has two female plastic buckle clips either side. I don't know what goes where / where to attach what etc to make the long over-the-shoulder strap/handle. The long strap lead has a metal spring clip on the end but I don't have a metal ring anywhere to clip onto to.The short strap collar part has a male and female plastic buckle either end ie. to clip into each other to make the collar. I can use the male end to clip inside one side of the actual bag but I don't have another matching clip to use on the other side, nor is there a metal ring to use the spring clip. Does this make sense... I am completely lost. I have tried to email Houndbags several times, all without reply. I have even tried to google images of the bag so I can somehow work it out but all pictures only show one side of the bag or any closeups of how to attach the strap to both sides. Pleeeeeeeaaaaaaase, I truly need help. I love these bags but at the moment can only use it if I carry it by the top handle which really its't practically when trying to walk dogs at the same time -
What Is Really In Those Dog Chews ?
Get Whippet replied to brightonrock's topic in General Dog Discussion
Another point of note re: imported rawhide chews are the quarantine conditions. Currently import conditions for rawhide state that they must have been soaked in a lime solution of pH14 for not less than 8 hours; and is made from hide/skin tissue only and contains no ear tissue or other tissue containing cartilage Otherwise, chews that do not comply with the above requirements (ie. contain ear tissue and/or cartilage) must be gamma irradiated at 50kGray. A good reason to buy Australian product -
Hi Julie, I'm not sure if Fiona (DOL fiona mills) is in a position to take in another at the moment but she is carer for Canberra Pooch Rescue and I know she has a soft spot for the cavs. Maybe worth a PM if no other offers are at hand.

I had my whippet's coat made through 'The Wolf's Den' - they advertise her on DOL on the advertisers banner/page. They measure the dog personally so it is custom made to fit, and is done up along the back by zipper. My one doesn't have the leggings or snood but I'm sure they would be open to discuss, they were extremely helpful with me. Or if you're crafty, it could be easily added with some ribbing. Sorry, it's a bad pic but my old man loves it.
