  1. My pup started eating pooh from 10 weeks old and now at 10 mths and AFTER trying pineapple etc to no avail, I bought the WILD FORAGE from VetnPetDirect.... 5 mths down the track on Wild Forage (not cheap at $46 per bottle)..... guess what....still eating pooh IF you are not out there to clean it up My answer - pick it up .... occassionally he will leave some pooh around (probably didn't like the taste - who knows!!) ...but on most occassions will gobble them up. My Vet says "some dogs do like them"... he started as a teeny weeny pup and still going for it today. Sorry - didn't mean to be the bearer of bad news!
  2. Do we have to pay Customs Charge ON TOP of what we pay .... eg when the toys/goods are received in Australia, do we have to go pick it up from Customs?? Sorry if it's a stupid question as I want to order them BUT not keen on going to pick up AND pay Customs!! Thanks
  3. I am trialling the pineapple (crushed) and see how he goes ...he did try again this morning!! Maybe i will increase the dosage of crushed pineapple as I currently give him 2-3 tbsps!!
  4. Ironically my Vet also said that - they will grow out of it! BUT i thought if there was a way i could deter it, i will try...
  5. No i don't ...shd I?? ,, just started doing my own mix after reading about these on the Forum ...and also for costs purposes. I used to buy BARF but feel it's not as good as before now it has changed hands..
  6. oops... better remove that for my next batch - this one already done but only a few cloves
  7. Both meals are the same ...i think the "first" pooh that comes out is the "hard" one...harder than thesoft ones that follow! When he first came at 9weeks old, he had only dry food and 1 1/2 weeks ago, I added the mince as I thought he might need more food - he doesn't get treats in between and 2 days ago, I gave him the Pork trotters before i go to work and remove it when I leave the house. He gets two (2) Eukanuba "puppy biscuits" at night after I have walked the Lab... He cannot walk now as I have to wait - he had his 12 weeks vaccination yesterday.
  8. Current diet is Advance puppy with Home-made mince (I amke these with beef mince, garlic, brocolli, carrot etc - all mushed up with the food processor) so i mix these with the Advance as he gets really hungry now (must be a "growth spurt"??)... When he came from his Breeder, he only had dry (advance)... Was it b'cos i added the other stuff (my 3 yr old Lab eats dry mixed with this mince stuff) ?? Thanks
  9. I ahve a 12, nearly 13 weeks pup and he (occassionally) eats hiw own pooh... He doeswn't eat the "soft" pooh which he leaves around the garden BUT if it comes out "hard" he goes for it, not always but I have caught him on occassions doing this!! It's a really disgusting habit and I have a Labrador with him outside BUT he doesn't eat the Lab's pooh...just his own and when it is hard. When I catch him, I grab him between his shoulders and say "no" sternly ...he stops but if I turn my back to get the pooh scooper, he would have eaten it!! Pls help.... I remember reading somewhere about putting crushed pineapples in his food?... anything to get him out of this disgusting habit! THANKS
  10. LOL ....my Lab when he was a pup could dig to China  I am aware of the need to clean their ears and the grooming aspect. Having said that, my Lab has sensitive skin and pretty bad ears which I have to check constantly (not known in the Lab breed!) but could be bcos he is an outside dog (only comes in to sleep in the laundry at night)it could be bcos of that his ears get bitten OR sometimes insects get in OR ear mites! ...who knows - i just watch out for it that's all.
  11. Thanks.. Have spoken to her and she is a lovely lady and has good things to say about her Lagatto...
  12. As i said, pretty rare breed and hear what you guys are saying re temperament... BUT i don't think there are as many in Brissie for me to meet .... unless someone knows of someone who has one who I can go & meet?? Thanks :)
  13. Geez ... it could be that the owner has never had a dog before (hence the agression?) ... I trained my son's Lab and he pretty much knows who's the boss and we walk together with other dogs and he has been trained to behave when with other dogs and/or people.... IF I got a Lagotto, I will make sure that it gets the socialisation AND the proper training so it doesn't have these issues .... i guess a dog is as good as it's owner :D
  14. No ... Prefer the medium sized lagotto .....Curly coated retrievers are larger in size. My son has a pure bred Lab and he is 32 kgs !! ...lives with us but moving out soon.
  15. Thanks for the in-sight... Food for thought as I prefer a pure-bred compared to a Labradoodle who people tell me look like Lagottos!!! Sounds like no real big issues so I might consider... :D
  16. What are Lagotto pups like? Are they easy to train?... are they excessive diggers as they are bred to hunt truffles? Just curious as the breed is not that common in Australia but probably growing in popularity ... if I was considering this breed, what to lok forward to and what not to??
  17. Guess what... she is better on the 1/2 tablet and no more shaking - i will ring Vet again today and see if I discontinue ie wean down slowly as she has advised OR continue for a few months on the LOWER dose and see how she goes. hmmmm...
  18. Yes she has a crate but in this house (we moved in almost a year ago) we kept the crate as she use to curl up in the room under the stairs as well as under the coffee table in the main lounge where she has her bed. Vet didn't tell me that the brain needed to adjust to the hormone - she rang and told me to wean her ogg the drug and to try the other tablet where she takes it only when there is a storm. I am quite confused now as to what I shd do..
  19. Those side effects are worrisome. I think I would be pushing the vet to prescribe something like valium for use "as needed" - i.e. when a storm is expected - rather than the Reconcile if things don't improve after two weeks. Up to you though. Have rung Vet and she is not in but she will ring me back tomorrow arvo (girl just told me that) as i have said that i am concerned.... I ahve also noticed that she "STARES" at the ceiling, shaking and looking blankly for 15 mins without moving from that spot...her eyes would look like it's closing as she is obviously sleeepy and then she would change direction and stare at another spot in the ceiling!! So bizarre - like she is "seeing" things. I need to get her off drug perhaps and go for those "as use" drugs ... she is NOT THE SAME dog and it's only been 2 weeks!! OMG..
  20. Will monitor how she goes as she has started to shake at night even though there is no storm and seems a bit restless at night b'cos I can hear her pacing and last night, she scratched at my door. She has always been an "independent" (if you can use that word) girl and she has never wanted to sleep in any of our rooms unless there is a storm and then she scratches at my door. Last night around 2.15am, she scrateched and I let her into my room.... abotu half an hour later, she scratcehd to be let out. then i heard her pacing up & down. I think at the end of ONE month, I will take her back to the Vet and assess how long she intends to have her on this drug. Initially she mentioned for "rest of her life" but I am hearing what everyone is saying and I don't think that will happen! Will keep everyone posted...
  21. She walked last night (around 7.30-8pm), then i could see that storm coming ... but I had my Ducted aircond which helps as the whole house is closed up if you know what I mean. She woke around 9.30pm and started to look around and moved to the sliding door to "assess" (if you can call it that) the atmosphere! Then when she heard the first rumblings of thunder, she started to shake and pant and paced. I quickly took a large towel and wrapped her in it (didn't get time in the weekend to pop into RSPCA Superstore) and held her tight. She started to wriggle and wanted to get out of it but i held on tight and then when the really loud thunder started, she was quite distressed. When I took off the towel after 20 mins when thunder had reduced, she started to scratch again!!! Bundeled in towel again and asked my daughter to hold her in her bed with doona over her. Didn't work and ended up in my son's bedroom. i have to ask him how long it took to settle her... My kids are in their mid-20's and Molly is "supposedly" my daughter's but ended up closer to me (what's new - parents alwasy end up with their kids pets!). LOL.. i think it will take a month at least for the medication to start working - currently she has gone off her food and inly eats half of what she normally eats in the morning and treast don't work as well. I noticed around 6pm in the evenings, she starts to shake and once I have given her a chicken wing, the shaking stops! hmmmmm....might need to ask Vet?
  22. It is now 1 week since I started her on Reconcile and can see a subtle difference in that she is less "hyper" and now allows me to lie her on her side while I trim the hair off her feet! We had rain (not storm) 2 nights ago and previously, she would be quite stressed (not the same level when there is HEAVY RAIN and/or STORM)but this time, she was pacing up & down BUT not to the point of not settling which she did after 30 mins of pacing... Looks like a good reaction to the drug ...will keep everyone updated once I notice more changes. I will go to RSPCA in Springwood this weekend to check out the thundershirt... I know they don't have stock but will go and see what it's like etc before I order online :-)
  23. I have a sensitising CD too but b'cos there is NO change in atmospheric pressure, she does not respond to this... thanks for replying.
