Woohoo!! Mine turned up today!!!!! along with me Cesar Millan book Competition Heeling, Basic Obedience and Dealing with Dominant Dogs are the ones i decided on getting :D Can't wait to sit down and watch them all...min you there's like 11hrs of watching for the three of them Anyone else got DVD's from Leerburg? if so which ones and what did you think of them?
-
Yup - no taking you out at the kneecap as they race past you
-
Perhaps something like this here?

MCosta - I tried Barf...but basically my GSD's condition went to crap, tried different protien sources, didn't help, was feeding huuuge amounts, condition was still crap. Put him onto a high energy high quality kibble and within weeks he was looking healthy again - so for me personally...i doubt i'll ever feed an only barf diet. Dogs now get high quality kibble with raw/sausage/left overs/etc on the side - and if i'm lazy they just get kibble...lol.
-
Easy - if you think your dogs looks great, eating well, pooing ok, etc - then stay with it - if you think they can do better...try something else If nothing else we are full of suggestions of which one to try next! I mean...my dogs do great on Royal Canin - but don't do so well on Advance - had a great deal on Advance so got a 20kg bag...well...what a pain that was! lasted for ages as i added a lil to the RC each meal...lmao. But i know other GSD's that do wonderfully on Advance *shrugs*

As my sig says... "The best food for your dog is the food your dog does best on! Packaged or Unpackaged!!!"
-
With the meat content...there is another trick to it - Some companies weigh their meat whole/fresh - so still with a high water content - hence it's at the top of the list no matter what. Other companies dehydrate the meat and then list it...so it doesn't always show at the top of the list. However i think they are supposed to note if they are weighing wet weight or dry weight these days - i know some of them are.
-
I feed Royal Canin GSD to my pair (the pup gets GSD Junior) and meaty bones, mince, leftovers, sometimes canned, dog roll, barf mix etc Sometimes like tonight they just get kibble...lol...i was lazy tonight ;)

How Do The F#$@% Do I Stop My Boy Licking!
KitKat replied to Australdi's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Last time i sprayed Aeroguard on myself and trained my dog...he peed on me! Perhaps spray on a bitterant spray? if it can stop them chewing themselves....it should stop them slurping you -
You can usually get the more processed version of it (just not 'quite' as good as the murky stuff) in amongst the brown, white, etc vinegars It's great for knocking off weeds as well...lol
-
Would the head guy from Leerburg be of interest perhaps? From what i can gather he can go into obedience, SAR, Schutzhund etc etc?
-
The prices range depending on what you go for...eg cabins, camping...with food...without...all week or as a day tripper etc. As well as how many people you are willing to share your cabin with...etc... Some camps are for the weekend...others can be all week etc. For the entire week one (next week) it is under $1500 for shared cabin with all meals.

If it was held in QLD i'd probably go...lol...i'm already planning on what i have to do to make next years camp tailwaggers seminar ETA - why should it be held in QLD? snippit from the info they sent me...
-
All the health shops will stock it, and those supermarkets that have the 'healthfood section' - they are the better ones to get as they are the cloudy murky ones
-
Glad to hear things are looking better Pix
-
*chuckles* Yeah...my Bronx showed a lot of interest as well (no sheep were damaged in the making of that experiance - B was in the hands of a professional...lol)...between that and the cost i gave up easy Glad to hear you are giving it go with the boys Shek :D Hope they go forward with it in leaps and bounds

What's Happened To Eaglepack In Australia?
KitKat replied to Shoelace's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
WHAT????? full price for something past it's use-by date!! Geez...they should have been selling it cheap cheap or giving it back to EP...I mean...it's probably still good (Tho depending on storage i've been told it sometimes comes up rancid when past it's date) But...that's terrible!!! -
Oh...my boys aren't humpers...Sabe is just...well...horny all the time - occasionally he will dry hump the air when really really excited but other then that... :D

My old Rotti X would escape...because it was a challenge to get out! Then he'd meander over to the nearest person to have them bring him back to my yard :D I once completely wore him out, i'd put in new fences...he had actually gone and laid down...i went inside to get the phone and whilst on the call my neighbours kids were calling out to bring him back into my yard *sigh* Cheeky boy had a huuuuge grin on his face. I ended up getting one of those invisable fences - so he's just break from the back yard into the front yard instead of out all together. My GSD was a brown nose even then as he'd not follow Harm into the front yard The holes would be small to get a rotti x out...but big enough for a GSD pup - but noooo Bronx would stay in the back yard like a good boy while Harm lazed around in the front yard (all fenced)

No, just raw meat will unbalance the diet - meaty bones (including chook pieces, necks, turkey necks, pork bones, lamb pieces, etc) give a balance between protien/calcium etc - where as raw meat is just that...raw meat. I do occasionally give mince to the dogs but it's only a small portion mixed into their kibble. However if they are getting meaty bones then sometimes such is the entire meal, half the meal, a bit of the meal, etc depending on what i have. -Eg a large lamb neck would be an entire meal vs the uncooked bone from a TBone or two would be a bit of the meal...lol Euk is a very good food - just make sure you go for the large breed puppy food. PurinaOne is probably one of the better of the supermarket foods - however there is better out there. As like Nehkbet mentioned, Royal Canin, Proplan, Nutrience, Eagle Pack, Nutro, Advance etc - most available from your larger pet store/produce store. Each has a large breed puppy version and that will be the one to go with. If you do wish to continue feeding some tinned food...the only one i would personally feed my dogs is Natures Gift. (Tho EaglePack and ZiwiPeak are also apparently good if you can find them) However it's not something they get with every meal, or as an entire meal. Puppies do tend to try and eat you out of house and home...but that will slow down so keep an eye out for that so that you don't overfeed. It does sound to me as if your pup is currently at a good weight, eg has a waist as well ...but a pic wouldn't be a bad idea What do you currently feed your other dog?
-
Kibble is just another term for dry dog food If you do want to continue with the tinned food...i'd split it up to both meals and mix it with the kibble. I'd also up the amount of chicken pieces, necks, roo tails and lamb pieces. If she's not had lamb before introduce it slowly as it can be rich for puppy tummies and give them the runs if you give them to much all at once...lol.

Ok...at 5-6 months she is still a baby and probably won't even start filling out until she is over 12 months old. How much do you actually feed her? as in what is a 'bowl' in regards to cups for example. If you are going to give her tinned food i would mix it with kibble - tinned by itself will go thru her fairly quickly. Do you feed her a large breed kibble? and which type of Purina puppy food do you feed her? (eg, Proplan, Beneful, PurinaOne etc) For example...my GSD pup at that age was getting a couple of cups of large breed kibble in the morning, and a couple of cups of kibble with lamb pieces/chicken pieces/etc with dinner. Always made sure i could feel his ribs easily but not see them - increased or decreased his food accordingly. As in growth spurts would cause an increase in food...lol. He's now at a lean weight of 38kg's at nearly 9 months.
