Lots of things to chew and bones etc will help with building up the muscles at the base of the ear as well But teething certainly does funny things to puppy dog ears

Older Dog Now Worried About Storms
KitKat replied to Henrietta's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Just so you know...my boy today was dosed with a calming aid this morning - didn't appear to help much with the storm this arvo, not unless his reaction would have been way way worse instead of just the worst i've seen him react. Also unfortunately this time of the year in Brisbane the dog would need to be dosed daily or be wearing the jacket/etc on a daily basis.. -
Older Dog Now Worried About Storms

One of my dogs has become worse with storms - today he tried to get thru the fence via the hand hole and then started to chew at the metal- I locked him up in his night pen for his own safety. Seems the storms should be over for now so will let him out soon. -
My GSD's love their pig feet, pig legs, pig ears, tails/spines/necks/etc etc! Seems like a rather badly written article

Those cart things that you can get for scrapbooking are pretty good too...and they are often only $20 - on wheels, lots of pockets as well as a open carry area in the middle

The factories have closed (for next 3-6 months or so) i believe - to sort out the contamination issues they had. What stock is here is all that there is from what i understand! -
Anyone find their City Councils are an issue?

To further my curiosity...for those who have more then two dogs (especially large dogs) how do you manage? Food/bills/bedding/walking/etc?
-
Hell...he loves animals - that puts him miles ahead of one vet i knew who appeared to hate them! Personally i like him, have no real issues with his show - it's it's just that...a show. I've not gotten cranky at an episode yet...but i had to stop watching some of the RSPCA ones...lol. And he can treat me or my critters anytime!
-
I just want to add - it's not that i don't love my troublesome poppet and he is adoring as well - i just know that if a perfect home came along for the older one - the decision would be that he would stay...no doubts. For the other...if a perfect home came up that suited him to a T i'd let him go.

Thundershirt For Dogs With Fear/anxiety Etc

So where have people found the best spots to buy from? -
I'm curious to hear more from the person who stated they would PTS the dog? Not to have a go at, just to hear more as to why/how you would come to that decision?

Thundershirt For Dogs With Fear/anxiety Etc
KitKat replied to helen's topic in General Dog Discussion
Must admit...i'm considering this for my younger GSD - his general state of being is somewhat aroused/anxious so it would be interesting to see how this would go on him... Anyone able to compare between the anxiety wrap and the thundershirt? -
It's not something i'm seriously considering at the moment - i know i haven't got as good a bond with one of my dogs because one i could not part with at all, with the other - if the perfect home came smooching him i'd probably give him up - so in saying that i don't believe i'm necessarily the 'perfect' home for him. But after 6yrs i'm used to him, he's a real sweetheart - i picked him as a 3day old pup, and was pig headed enough to stick with him...even tho i had reservations before he was 8weeks old. ETA - the 'other' dog isn't walking perfection either, but i connected with him at first sight - he's being rehomed elsewhere at this point, but i'm tempted to put my name down for if he is ever returned, for whatever reason.
-
Please note this isn't an overly serious poll - but i am curious to hear what people would do. What got me thinking about it was that i've been dealing with a dog that isn't mine somewhat regularly lately and i jokingly said i'd give up one of mine (the troublesome one) to take the other dog in if given the chance (not a huge likelyhood at this stage). One of my lads has cost me a lot of money and caused a lot of trouble over the years due to damage caused, health etc and still appears to be allergic to our grass or dirt or something - but i seem to mostly have that under control at the moment! He's known as my troublesome poppet as opposed to the good poppet - who is perfect in nearly every way, which just leaves the other one looking worse then he honestly is! But anyway - back to the poll...the situation today just had me rather curious on what people would do!

It's a great law...unless you have PITA neighbours who will find it easier to find more ways to bother you then just creating barking dog complaints - however as far as i knew the BCC already had in place that if a dog 'frightened' you the dog could be deemed dangerous - eg rushes at a fence as you walk by etc. I have my back yard and front yard seperated to lessen the chances of the above - both my dogs bark etc at people walking their dogs by, or at kids who drag sticks across my wooden fence or at people that enter the yard - if i'm home they quieten a hell of a lot quicker then if i'm not.
-
It's not necessarily the expectation that they will 'be good as a protection dog' but that they are a visual and noise deterant to people thinking of breakign and entering - at least that's how i see my two GSD's as first and for most ín regards to 'security'.
