  1. I'm aiming to be trialing with both my boys as of early next year So will see you at training in the non too distant future!!!! All the best with trialing and i hope the mighty midget does beautifully!!!!!
  2. I'd be thinking along the lines that people react to medication differently and i'd be willing to believe that dogs are the same - eg some get some side effects, some get different side effects other get none at all. With his system changing to deal with the different dosages i'd be expecting some changes - coat, behaviour, appetite - one or more or if lucky none...lol. And if it is coat then the dog has to rid itself of the old coat for the new healthy coat to come thru - at least that's how i understand it. Look at getting the boy some aloe vera juice and also look at giving apple cider vinegar - bit of the ACV in the water and Aloe as directed. And as ShowDog says the accidopolous or however it's spelt (lol) tabets to help his system recover also. As to the coat drop thing...i think all dogs get it to a degree longer coats are just more noticible - but puppy coat changes to adult coat and bad coat changes to good coat if good changes are made...and then there is the seasonal change to add to the mix - could be that you are getting all three in one hit?
  3. I know when my GSD's did their big first coat drops they looked terrible...it seemed like all the good coat had fallen out...and just left crap coat behind...lol. It's also coming up to time for dogs to change to their summer coat - or at least my GSD's have already started since the days are getting longer again. I'd suggest up the brushing, check what medication he is on (if any) and if that would make a difference, check that he is at a good weight, perhaps check what his skin is like under the fur - eg a little dry (like we get dry skin perhaps) make sure he is drinking enough and perhaps give him an egg twice a week for a bit. If it continues to get worse check with your vet - it could still be an allergy but without the more noticible indicators. Eg has an issue with red meat not just beef but the beef was aggravating him worse kinda thing.
  4. That will be fine!! As long as it's 'enough' for her it's all good :p
  5. One way i did it was to hold a small but high value treat in my finger tips/finger nails so that the pooch couldn't actually get it - and as soon as they go about it gently release the treat. Be prepared to have your fingers nibbled to start with tho! There are several ways of doing it but that was the one i've used the most - especially while working
  6. Must say those turkey necks are great aren't they!!! Picked some up today...they also have turkey bums available as well...lol
  7. Yeah - Times can depend on who makes the order, when the order is done and when the item is shipped in - and if enough is shipped in to complete the order. I'd suggest if making a special order for food order the next bag when you pick up your ordered one - at least that's the way i'd do it
  8. Could be that the breeder has early maturing lines and has suggested slightly early desexing so that it is done before the girl has her first season? Eg it's not unheard of for bitches to have their first season around 5 months old. If you are concerned perhaps ask the breeder why she suggests you desex at that age?
  9. The 4800/4300 is a 20kg bag tho...so you are getting more for your money - or is it an 18kg bag these days? If you feed RC and you are a breeder you can join the breeder club and get the breeder bags which five you more kg's for less $$
  10. Potato flour i believe can be used. Otherwise i think it depends on the type of coat your dog has and it may be that a good brush and damp cloth may do the trick...
  11. There isn't anything for large/giant dog but there is one bag of giant puppy (smallish) everything else is small/medium dog/puppy size and cat foods. They aren't out of date they are just selling them as i believe they will just be doing 'special orders' for the people now.
  12. I currently take my dogs to Petwise as they have DIY hydrobaths and dryers as well. Recently found out that for an additional fee (depends on size of dog) they will get a staff member to wash/dry your dog for you - if theyh ave enough staff available or it's not busy kinda thing.
  13. I'll be sure to post pic's of my injuries...i mean of me rollerblading with the dogs...
  14. I didn't start feeding chook legs to my GSD's till they were about 6 months old....and then turkey legs from about 9 months old Turkey legs and wings are fantastic if you can find them...tho they are huge!
  15. Cool...a few people to look out for Last time i was there Bronx and i were in class 3 and i'm aiming for Sabe to start in class one. The idea being i'll train one then the other - i'm also not sure what i'll do when they are both in the later classes
  16. I bought some cheap rollerblades...with the idea of running/blading with the dogs - just wondering if anyone here does it? I'll be running with Bronx to start with as he'll stop if told - or if i fall over I might save running Sabe that way until i know what i'm doing...lol. I've got harnesses which i think i'll use for this along with a collar if needs be - just thought it was a great way of running with them. Will also look at doing it with the bike but thought i'd give blading a go with them as well So...does anyone else run their dogs that way? or is looking to?
  17. My GSD's regularly get pork as well...has never been a problem - their fav being pig feet or hocks
  18. Yup yup - that's what got me thinking about asking who I only live around the corner and have trained there before so thought i'd ask the question
  19. Thinking about getting back to training again since things are finally starting to settle down again around here. And my mad loopy Sabre-baby needs to get back into it as much as Bronx does So just curious which DOL'ers i can keep an eye out for??
  20. Yup...target sticks are handy Another cheap way of doing them is get an old retractable car arial (sp?) and stick either a ping pong ball or hollow indoor golf ball/cat toy thingy on it
  21. The best i found for my GSD (with a long pointy beak ) was www.fordogtrainers.com - had comfort padding, good fit and allows for drinking, eating, panting etc - not that my boy wears it often but he does occasionally.
  22. Perhaps check in with your after-hours vet?
  23. Make up some chamomile (sp?) tea as you would to drink, let it cool and then wash the eyes with it Do it a couple of times a day and it works quite quickly
  24. I'd be going the performance diet...she needs the extra nutrients/fats etc ...
  25. Go with what suits your dog...raw/cooked, dry/fresh, cheap/not so cheap! I feed my dogs a mix of kibble and raw
