  1. I'd get rid of the rice as it's not needed - but perhaps increase the amount of vegies he's getting and some offal and go from there. And add some oily sardines/fish once a week to also help his system. How long as he been on the raw diet? Just could be his system still getting use to it?
  2. It does all sorts of things..everything from inner health to outer health - a couple of examples Can help stop tear stains when ingested Lessens the damage to lawn from peeing when ingested Helps the metabolism when ingested Can be used to stop stings/bites hurting when used topically Used to dry out hotspots when used topically If you do a search of this forum oodles of threads will come up with info and links etc
  3. Yup - ACV = Apple Cider Vinegar Great stuff
  4. Many dogs with a sensitivity to wheat, red meat, other grains often come out in hot spots. It can also happen if they have flea allergies or are bitten by other creepy crawlys. Can also happen if the dot is a itchy scratchy type. Have been rough in play etc. Basically there isn't any one reason why dogs get hot spots. ACV inside and out is good, you can also dab it onto the hot spot itself. The zinc powder (heat rash type powder) is also very very good - as often as not you don't even have to clip back the fur if you use it. I've also used antiseptic powder with the same effect.
  5. At four months old he's still only a baby and still has a lot of growing to do...not just up but out as well. Don't stress and just enjoy it while you can!
  6. Good thing he was on a lead!! Poor lil guy!
  7. Sounds like toileting is his issue at night - many pups get really fustrated about not being able to toilet elsewhere - particularly if they've had their toilet training already started at the breeders or the pup is a naturally clean puppy. My GSD's as pups would get a toilet break before i went to bed...even if this meant waking them up. They'd then wake me at around 3am-ish by yipping or some such which would wake me up and i'd take them outside - stay calm and don't start playing with them etc else they'll try and get you up to play as well...lol. Once they've been to the toilet tell them they are very good and then pop them back to bed. When you wake up go thru it all over again. As the pup gets older they will be able to last longer - but by letting them signal to you that they need to go is great as it sets them up to signal you when they need to toilet. Eg will walk over to door and sit, will give a specific yip, will scratch at door etc and this can last them a life time - makes it much easier for an indoor dog Perhaps also start a 'toilet word' so that you can also get them to toilet on command - very handy for car trips/trials/shows/visits etc
  8. Just a couple of threads from the past... Has links etc In this thread i talk about my old boy Harm who had it, later confirmed by the vet. But there are some links and other peoples experiances etc in this one and the following thread. Another one
  9. Does he get toilet breaks thru the night? Is that what he is after perhaps?
  10. My boys are now both desexed...they still get 'happies' and the lumps still appear but not as often as they used to...lol
  11. Sabre my black GSD was a precocious little boy...and anything and everything would give him a 'happy'...from about 3 months onwards - he also started cocking his leg at that point. And the bulbis glandis made their appearance very noticibly along with everything else...lol. How old is your Dal boy?
  12. Perhaps start reading up on BARF and RAW diets and go from there?
  13. Four legs food is great, same with Ziwipeak treats, VIP do some great training treats as well...Supa Natural chook liver or breast strips (dried chook breast) are also great. And you can also get dried tuna which is also cool...stinky tho! :D A lot of people use cheese, roast chook, left over meats, sausage, processed meat roll etc. It does depend on if you want to use wet or dry food as treats...but you want something small enough that the dog doesn't have to sit stop and eat, but something tasty enough that they'll go wild and work for it
  14. Well it was wet on the way home, wet after shopping, wet when we got home...so i decided i wasn't going out in it again! How was training? didn't get too wet?
  15. It might be worth checking in with some of the PetCafe's...many of them like getting in 'boutique' foods if they find themselves interested...but they'd not be able to take a whole pallet...but they might be interested in a share of one...
  16. Turkey necks are about the length of your forearm...or longer and sometimes thicker - compared to chook necks which are roughly finger length bit twice as thick. Only problem with chook necks is depending on the size of your dog they can swallow them and get them stuck on the way down.
  17. I have noticed that the wetter my dogs are the more likely they are to lean against me....i think it's a conspiracy...
  18. I think you will find it will take longer then it did the first time around - but you have to be consistant from here on in. As to the how's etc...i don't think i know enough to help...lol...most of what i have done with my dogs is because i know how their minds work...one being with completely different workings to the other
  19. Hehehe...the idea of two wet GSD's in my car is a major major turn off! Considering Sabe is still often like a frog in a sock when he gets excited Varicool...i was thinking you could lose Harves in a puddle at the training field if you weren't careful! At least if it's not raining on Friday you can take him down to training then and do a ring runout etc
  20. I'd perhaps start doing 'leave' work and food refusal...i mean like he can still have the pizza crusts...but he has to wait until you guys have finished eating - even if it means the crusts are building up in front of his nose while he waits etc...then when you give him the ok word it's like getting a 'jackpot' lol. Build him up to it of course tho! I do that with my dogs at times...leave food out but they know they aren't allowed to have it unless i give it to them or give them their food word. It tends to be a fav trick as well...lol
  21. I must admit...i hate training in the rain. I have done so in the past - but don't like it much...tend to have problems with colds during or after - not to mention Wet Dog Syndrome! Training might be on tonight (Southsiders? any going?) - but i haven't decided if i will go...lol. I thought about using the dryzabone coats for me and the dogs...but the dogs will already be wet and covered in mud after playing about all day...so i'm not sure i even want them in my car! But anyway...do you or will you train in the rain?
  22. Perhaps also check that she isn't constipated...
  23. Geez...they only all put their prices up about a year ago
  24. Hehehehehe I know better then to get between a BC and a tennis ball! Or any of their fav toys for that matter! I've been taken out at the knees, BC smooched and had said toy tossed at me several times And not just from the same dog! But yeah...having such great focus is sooo handy in training...lol - my boys follow me with their ears, but their eyes are watching everything else Hope CK is fine for training Monday...or if not then I'm sure the pretty girl will star instead See ya then
