  1. Touch the inside of their leg/belly - it will give you a good indication of if they have a fever - or the good old thermometer up the butt
  2. Oh i'm so sorry for your loss Fifi. Navarre will enjoy the peace within the Mother's garden, with those who have gone before him, while waiting in due time for his other pack members to arrive and join him.
  3. Go the Advantix Works a treat to keep the flies of my GSD's wingbat ears - nothing else worked without it having to be applied several times a day or without clugging up the fur on the ears. Once a month with the Advantix and no flies and perfectly fluffy soft full coated ears
  4. From memory they were about $9.00 for 5kg for the duck frames - they have updated their website since i saw it the other day
  5. Duck is at times used as the main source of protien in dry dog and cat food as it's an unusual source and so pets are less likely to have built an intolerance/allergy to it.
  6. In case anyone is interested...Canine Country in Woodridge is now supplying the Great Barko food Noticed they also have duck and camel mince...and duck frames - so great for those looking for a new source of protien for their pooches to try!
  7. Ebay had some fantastic little carts available not long ago...i think they were on average $60 and they were fantastic! I was contemplating buying one for my GSD's to pull me around on
  8. I get the ones in oil and if adding it to kibble i don't bother draining them...mind you i have large breed dogs so that can make a difference on how the body reacts to that much oil...eg if it just goes straight thru them or not!
  9. One of my cats will only eat them if they are in tomato sauce!
  10. Some dogs and some breeds are more prone to it then others, food and flea tolerance can also make a difference. Curash and Zinc powder immediately dry out the spot which will allow you not to have to cut the fur - it's what i now use on my fluff coat GSD's and i don't have to clip their coats to get rid of the spots now - as often as not if i catch it early it only takes one application of the powder and the spot is never seen again
  11. Get some zinc powder from the chemist and fluff that over the hot spot and into the coat - you don't need to clip it. Keep putting it on say...twice a day...it should be gone in a day or three
  12. Just bumping to say Guy seems to have the specials going again!
  13. Just be careful of beef rib pieces...not sure if it's my dogs but they always managed to get at least one per batch stuck on their teeth along their jaw line...so i have to reach in and pry it off their teeth!
  14. A whole small chook? A fish? Pig head? Turkey drumsticks? Just thinking perhaps things from the same source (meat type) but different parts of said source? Might just be easy to get is all. Otherwise perhaps track down some venison?
  15. Yup...teething can make their breath yucky for while, also he'd be loosing his puppy breath as well from memory!
  16. Perhaps up-load the pics to photobucket.com and then you just paste the links into your post? What colour are the markings you are referring to?
  17. Depends on how hot it was Not to mention she was a terrible mother and would just as often lay the egg standing up and let it crack open on the BBQ plate
  18. Royal Canin isn't clickable.... Currently my guys are getting a mix of raw bones etc and Proplan/Iams when i am lazy and haven't defrosted anything - or have hit the bottom of the freezer and don't look to be getting back to the Butcher for a week or two!
  19. Perhaps she was an odd chook...but she would lay her egg at exactly the same time each day....didn't matter what she was doing - when it hit 11am she'd hurry off to the BBQ jump in and lay her egg...then hop out and head back to what she had been doing
  20. ;) At what age do most puppies start to cock their legs? Mine are just over 7 months and still girly squat? ;) Depends on the dog...i have one GSD who at 3yrs still squats, the other is 18months but was cocking his leg at three months So yeah...depends on the dog As to desexing...my pup was crypto as well...and his desexing was more like a spay due to them having to open him up somewhat to get at the other teste. The vet saved the testies for me to have a look at (gotta love my vet! ) and one was the size i expected...the other was barely a third of the size - Sabe was desexed at 13months of age. If left undesexed he will act as an entire dog, and other dogs will 'see' him as an entire dog - he will also be able to do all that entire dogs do My older GSD didn't cock his leg before desexing...and hasn't done so since being desexed. Sabe on the other hand started early and hasn't given up the habit
  21. Check out clicker training...and yes...you can clicker train a chook to do a stand for exam - i accidently trained a chook the 'leave' command regarding food...you could put food down in front of her and she'd look at you until you said she could eat it...then she'd scoff it ;)
  22. *chuckles* This is what i was told to put my pup on a halti for...but he was only doing it to a slight degree  The trainer is probably thinking the Infin8 is a normal Halti type rather then a graduated one which eases the dog into learning due to how it works... Perhaps have a chat to the trainer before class and say that it's not a basic halti and take some info regarding how the Infin8 works as opposed to the halti and go from there?
  23. Unfortunately much can depend on the trainers involved. The club i kinda train at used to suggest check chains years ago....now they suggest using a halti on every dog who isn't perfectly behaved from the start
  24. Fly Free Sambucca... Hugs to you Grotty
