Which Training Collar For Gsd Show Dog
KitKat replied to Firefox's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I'd consider a Rogz (cripes i seem to be spruiking them a lot today!) limited slip check...made from heavy duty material, very strong, very good quality and won't mar the coat at all. I use them on my two boys and they are fabulous...even when my youngest boy is being a bit of a brat -
Bahahaha typical men Must admit....both my GSD's are tarts for me so would roll over, legs in the air to show me their stitches so i could take them out...even wriggly Sabre with stitches up and down his belly Mind you...with his extra stitches i did call the vet and check...and even he said it would probably be eaiser for me to get them out by myself then it would with them doing or helping...but he knows Sabre is a wrigglebum fusspot with anyone else

Feeding Chicken Carcasses To A "scoffer" ?
KitKat replied to raffikki's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I feed them to my guys frozen (adult GSD's) and they'll scoff them in several bites - rather then the two bites when they frames are defrosted -
Behaviourist/ Aggresive Dog Capable Kannels In Qld
KitKat replied to Luke GSP's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Redgum kennels could certainly do the boarding and perhaps the rest...but...they are southside brissie -
If you are willing to pay the price of Hills...then try the Royal Canin Labrador dry food You can get a 3/4kg bag to try or just get a big one and if your dog doesn't eat it...take it back with your receipt - mind you check first with the store that they do the palatability guarentee...most do tho :D IF you still have your receipt for the Hills give the store you bought it from a call and see if you can take it back...Hills usually supports the palatability guarentee...however i'm not sure all stores do if that makes sense.

Advice On Dry Food For Sensitive Belly.
KitKat replied to *Lolapalooza*'s topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
A few others that may be worth trying ( they are usually a general stock item)...Royal Canin German Shepherd (I know he isn't a GSD...lol but it's worth considering), Proplan Salmon, Hills Sensitive Stomach, Euk GSD. And for the cheaper ranges...Great Barko/Uncle Albers, Supercoat Special Care range. -
It is rather amusing at my house...two fluffy 45kg GSD's sitting and begging for a lil sac of a passionfruit seed
-
As long as they don't eat too much of the shell of them they should be fine - my GSD's have always done this...either they beg for the lil sacs of passionfruit seed from my hand...or they self serve off of the vine, make a hole in it and lick out the insides. Hasn't hurt them any nor caused the runs or anything else like that. About all you can do is try and snaffle the fruit off of the vine before they tempt the pups ;)

I had the same problems i was feeding 5-6 times the recommended percentage just to stop Bronx from looking like a walking chook frame! And that was by the book barf. I have found the meaty bones and kibble work well in keeping hte boys nice and in condition. Different strokes for different folks....different foods for different dogs...lol
-
They can also be allergic to wheat...and beef is another one that can be an issue. Good dry to try is the Royal Canin GSD kibble (both a junior range and an adult range), ProPlan Sensative (based on salmon) may also be worth a try. Barf is well worth a try but if you think part of your dogs issue might be beef/chook/lamb etc remember to take it out of your mix...eg stick with white meats and see how you go if things clear up then add beef...check for change if not change add something else etc Must admit...sounds like it could be a wheat allergy or at least a food allergy to me...have seen a few dogs with much the same symptoms - getting them on the 'right food for them' solved the problem for them. But...can be different for different dogs of course! Good luck!
-
Both of these are fabulous to use and very comfy for the dog...i have both of these

Sorry about the link...lol...was going by memory The kennels there are very good...and i've had dogs trained there and know of many others trained there also - they do the boarding training and then you spend the next several weeks (or as long as needed) going back each saturday morning to learn what the dog has learnt. They are very good - they also do one on one lessons as well - i guess a lot depends on the time you have available as much as anything else.

www.redgum.com.au has prices for their training on their website - obedience/personal protection/patrol dog etc
-
There is one at Rothwell and Mt Gravatt/Macgregor as well
-
Actually the RC German Shepherd or Lab foods would probably do pretty well also - and you can buy them in the 4kg bags for using just in the toys
-
Anyone still waiting for theirs to arrive? Or is it just me? Mail has been slow from interstate for a few things lately - so just checking how everyone else has gone? ETA - Been in contact with the seller - they are looking into it so all is sweet - i think the employed sniffer dogs may have snaffled them...
-
How big is your GSD? Also what is the ratio between meaty bones and vegies?
-
Bring your baby into Petwise mcgregor so i can smooch the bubby! ETA - at least i'll be there this Sunday...lol

Aaawwww she's sooo cute!! I'd not reapply the advocate - you don't want to od her on the stuff...lol...just keep an eye on her re the fleas. Aloveen is pretty gentle etc so it may still be fine. Just wash the rest of everything and go from there
-
The advocate has to wait 12-24 hours as it needs the oils of the skin to carry it through the coat - even so it can take a few hours for it to work either way. Once it works the fleas will be outta there but it can take a few days for the flea reaction to settle down. The pimples are something to keep aware of...but aren't too much of a problem as long as they don't get out of hand...they get them for much the same reason we do. Both my boys got them but i just popped them and put pawpaw ointment or lavender oil on them - not sure if that was the right thing but it's what i've always done with my pups...lol The bedding is fine to wash in the washing machine It's worth taking her to the vet for her first vet check - they can take down all her details and check her over...even most breeders will recommend you do that within a few days of gettting your pup home Now that you've shown a pic of her belly...you have to also show a pic of her pretty face

Logan All Breeds does not encourage or tolerate rough handling of any dogs. Maybe the instructors did not see what was going on? It was during classes and the Instructors unless they are deaf couldnt of not noticed it.. I'll second that...i've tried there twice now and both times i was turned off due to their seeming disregard for the treatment of many of the dogs, that and some trainers expecting people to be able to understand what they want without explaining anything -I was training there with my dog and was having to explain stuff to those around me! Runcorn is pretty ok tho...been there off and on - currently can't scrape up the spare change to train

KitKat replied to melbournecritters's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
