I always try to take the first couple of weeks off with new pup - and during that time i wouldn't leave them alone for more then a couple of hours - after that it's back to work for me. As to adults it's usually around 8hrs, less if i can, or more if i have something on. But the boys aren't inside as adults while i'm out anyway.

I wonder if we should set up a thread listing some volunteer dog donors in different states? I'd be curious about letting one of my guys donate - even to a blood bank supply but i'm not sure where we can do that in Brissie.

The interlopers don't know the risks, whereas you do. I guess that amounts to one night in which you don't need to feed the dogs, correct? Yes i know the risks...and am careful to move around the yard in such a way to not be eaten by my dogs, same as my resident possum I can't help it that the resident possum uses my dogs to protect her territory and babies. I'm not going to perch outside warning intruding possums to stay out of the yard, i'm also not going to lock up my dogs 24/7 in case a dumb possum attempts to enter the yard. Survival of the smartest i say - and if it keeps my fairly considerate resident possum happy and resident then i'm happy. And if i do realise that my dogs have nabbed a possum, and that it's dead i'll either remove it if it's whole, and if it's half eaten they don't get fed until the finish it and then they get wormed. My resident possum generally saves her moving around in the backyard until the boys are in bed - otherwise she heads out the front of the house.
-
My dogs are locked up at night to prevent them eating possums....but my resident possum used the dogs as her personal security team - be it that she tosses interlopers to the dogs or moves about the yard in a way that newcomers who don't know the set up risk becoming a snack, but she knows the place and uses it to her advantage!

There are dry foods out there that are acceptable - look for ones with the highest protien and lowest fat - i think Hills did one that qualified and one or two of hte other brands did as well.

The dog probably has a food hangover :D Just make sure you worm her again soon and keep up the worming if she keeps up the snatching of possums.

Perhaps try the Royal Canin German Shepherd dryfood, they make a junior and an adult formula - it is very good food and doesn't contain wheat. -
And by the sounds of it the pup isn't desexed - hopefully she doesn't end up with someone who just wants her to pump out pups

Of All The Cheaper Dry Dogfoods Which Is The Best?
KitKat replied to Stitch's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I bought a bag of Coprice for the dogs to try...and the sods wouldn't eat it -
For the OP - Sounds like Kennel Cough - if you do a search through the threads you'll come across lots of info Honey is good and don't take your dog out for walks etc for a couple of weeks after the dog stops coughing...it will just spread the infection to any other dogs about. Keep an eye on your dog for if it gets worse, and take the dog to a vet if you feel concerned at any stage - just warn them that you think it may be kennel cough so they can let you in throuh the back door or something rather then possibily infect other dogs in the waiting room/or that will use the waiting room.

Its also likely to be fresh meat as listed...which eans when it is dehydrated the meat content would actually be further down the list. Not bashing supercoat -i still figure it's a matter of what suits your dog
