*Lolapalooza*

My friend has an 11 month old Bernese male who has had poop issues for the last 5 months. He was fine eating Nutrience puppy for the first 6 months then tried Advance Puppy Large Breed and the problems began. He passes heaps of wind and does one or two really sloppy stinky poos a day (sorry for the graphic description). His owner hasnt got a lot of money at the moment so put him onto Bonnie with no change. She has tried Super Coat as well with no change. I advised her to try raw which I feed with great success and she was giving him that and the poop firmed up. She would rather feed a dry food as she doesnt have much fridge/freezer space. I think he must have a wheat/grain allergy as she put him back on to dry (Bonnie) and he is the same. If it was me I would keep him on raw but its not my dog. (He is having his poo checked by the vet this monday but needs to put on approx 10kg, he obviously cant get enough nutrients to gain muscle and weight) Can anyone advise the best Eagle Pack or other Dry food to put him on to try that? I have some Nutrience Large breed Puppy here that I will give her Monday but I like Eagle pack better. As I co own this dog I am losing sleep over this I am happy to buy his food if need be I just want him to put on weight and condition. (He is other wise happy healthy and has no health issues)

Anyone know where i can get some orijen in SA?

Has anyone raised several sound Large/Giant Breed puppies on Orijen? I love the sound of it. I feed mainly raw plus a bit of Eaglepack/Nutrience, I would like to try Raw plus some Orijen (I dont think its in SA yet) but I have a stupid paranoia that if I change foods it will make them unsound (I realise this is dumb! kind of like wearing lucky socks or undies to shows ).

In have read that every breed of dog except the greyhound can be affected by Hip Dysplasia. (am surprised about the grey hound tho since they are such big dogs)

My friend in NZ feeds this to her 12 dogs and she loves it and so do they....I think she said its a little $$ though. Thanks for the link I will have a look.

Lots of big breeds 'see-saw' as they grow, my first was a shocker.....and I couldnt believe she got refused a challenge all those years ago -till I looked at the pictures about a year ago HA HA! Being bum high shouldnt affect joints just keep the dog lean. Forgot to add that they should even out as they get older and stop growing!

I feed my Bernese on Eagle Pack Large breed puppy or Nutrience Large breed puppy but I try and feed lots of chicken carcasses and veges as well. Some one I sold a puppy too recently went to the pet shop and was reccommended Bonnie puppy plus a calcium supplement!!!!!! I nearly crapped a brick when she told me, get back to the freaking 80's I have forbidden her from ever going there! (she can feed Bonnie if she has to but NOT calcium, bloody idiot at the pet shop) I dont like Pro Plan at all it stained my food bin and that cant be right!!!!!
