Australian Shepherd red merle dog (NOT desexed) in need of a temporary home. Owner moving interstate for work and her new home is not suitable to house a dog. Possibly needs homing for up to 12 months. Temporary home needs to be close to Melbourne if possible so that the owner can visit from time to time. All expenses for the dog will be paid for by owner. We started feeding about 3 weeks ago. Our GSD gets 3 cups, our adult BCs get 1.5-2 cups and my 5 month old BC gets 2.5 cups + raw as he is having a growth spurt. All are maintaining weight fine and previously they were fed the same amount of Artemis. Personally, I have never turned a packet of dog food over to read how much I should be feeding, it will vary from brand to brand. I know my dogs and judge by how they are holding weight. That said, I am not feeding more Nutro than I am any other food (and working in the pet industry, I have tried them ALL!)

Just started feeding it after a Weim breeder friend said I MUST try it ;) Before this we fed Artemis which was good. We decided to switch to Nutro after looking for something Australian made and more readily available. Very happy with it so far, the dogs love it.

I totally forgot what week it was and missed it this month Looks like you all had a ball. I can't believe how big Alera is now!!!!!!!

WoofnHoof, I just had to ask, how many Labs have you met? You cant generalise like that. The more Labs I meet (and yes I have owned a few myself), the more I realise they are not the "perfect family pet". People believe too much of what they read. Don't get me wrong, I love the breed but they are definately NOT for everyone nor would I label them "laid back". And i'm not even going to comment on the Labrador x Poodle part of this thread as it makes my blood boil!!!

Fungrzz, Great post. Im pleased to hear that your little is doing well, she certainly is one of the lucky few. I still miss my Fellow every day and often tear up when I think how quickly he was taken from me. I would do anything to have him back, theres a big hole in my heart. But thank you for posting some great tips! I cant help but watch my other dogs like a hawk now.

Groomers. Unfortunately I can't find anyone in Melbourne that stocks it apart from the occasional dog show. It is highly concentrated, smells great and the dogs come up a million bucks. Now I'm using Champion Tails horse shampoo range, good value for money and nice results.

I can't help you but just wanted to say its nice to here of a success story with IMHA. I hope your girl continues fighting the battle. I lost a dog to IMHA in Feb so I know how hard your little dog had to fight to be here today.
