This guy was SO hard to see from above! One of my best finds so far for sure - not seen this colour variation before, I don't think.

You need to be a little more specific - what do you need help doing? photoshop and photoshop elements are powerful programs that have virtually endless things to learn. Online tutorials are a great place to start for specifics - google what you want to do and your version like "cloning photoshop elements 7" or something and it will help narrow things down. IMHO the best way to learn? Open an image and start playing with all the menu choices. Push buttons, move sliders, get a little crazy.

The expressions in 1, 7 and the very last one - priceless! Love it!!

I hope so coz I use all sorts of settings on my compact (I'm not a fan of the term "point & shoot" unless it's a camera that truly doesn't have any controls at all and those are actually pretty rare) cameras to make them do what I want them to do as best as possible! that's half the fun sometimes - making the most of whatever equipment you have in your hand!
-
I hate not having at least my Lil Bubba Canon SD1200 on me - you just never know!
-
Yup, I'm loving my compact cameras again. I'm using them underwater and just day to day. Don't be afraid to edit these files either My blog is usually filled with photos from my various Baby Cams - enjoy

welcome! lovely dogs! I hate to be a noodge, but if you could resize to about 650-900 pixels on the long edge it would be super helpful in viewing the photos (and small sizes - like 100-200kbs - are nicer for those on slow connections!) and fabulous name - finally someone who spells it properly from Kristin!
-
I don't currently have any Tamron's but have plenty of friends who use them. No problems at all. Slower to focus than some of their Canon brand cousins, but nothing that's been a major issue and if you don't have both, you won't notice

Cod getting a cleaning from today's dive - he was mere cms away from my port! A ten second Lightroom edit on a crab here
-
A funky crab from the other day and more bizarre stuff on the bloggedy! leave some love there if you're enjoying yourself!

Difference is license restriction. Both versions are fully functional - there is no difference there.

No, you import the whole card - or individual files - or the whole folder - or a selection of files. Whatever you want. Instead of double clicking to edit - you just click the develop module and the image you are on is there. Same number of clickies. Less actually, if you view your images in the develop module in the first place You'll get the hang of it once you have hands on.
-
Don't take it personally - it's me, not you or the Badger-Dog!
-
Hehe - sorry, I've been a bit off my game the past few months I can send you the big files if you ever want them.

Preset & synch are your friends, Baby
-
Lightroom is easy to make a preset. Here's quick and dirty: 1) Work on an image til it's how you want it. 2) Click the + on the Preset menu (left hand side in the develop module) If you want everything you've done as part of the preset leave everything ticked 3) Select where you want it - the default presets or make your own name for a "folder" of presets (there's a drop down menu to choose New Folder). I have Kristin's BWs, Kristin's Colour etc 4) Type a name for your preset 5) Click Create Ba da bing - you're done. And you can apply it and still tweak every individual bit. FAST - ZOOM ZOOM! I love making them and usually just leave all the boxes ticked, but if I know I don't want something but want MOST of what I've done, I just unclick the right box - how versatile is that?? And all on one screen. And it means you can make multiple presets from ONE edit - which is pretty much full of the awesome, too.

This can be done in LR, too I don't know how DPP is for real cloning - I must admit since having LR I don't bother with DPP and when I first loaded it years ago, it sucked. Everyone I know who uses it now does love how it works with RAW images, though.
-
Every time I see one of these guys I want one!! Cute.
-
You need to select the Canon mount if you are shooting Canon bodies. There are no adaptors.
-
Awesome - glad you are loving it! 1.4 is a bear, but once you get the hang of it the results are worth it. Don't forget that you CAN stop it down, too. Even up to 3.5ish or so will give you a great shallow DOF but just enough more to keep the whole eye in focus plane, for instance. Can't wait to see more!
-
You could try tiny clone spots in LR but frankly it's just not what LR is built for and it would take an age and be only half good probably. Photoshop Elements is a cheaper option than CS5 - though it doesn't have the absolutely fabulous (when it works) content aware fill or whatever it's called. Content aware fill is worth the price of CS5 alone, I reckon, coz I DETEST futzing with cloning and will often dump a frame instead of deal with removing something. It makes me far more aware out shooting coz I know how much I hate to futz with it - but for those times that there's no helping it, thank the geeks for PSCS5!
-
From my trip thru Perth back in August - a couple with a DOLer here, too.
-
For cloning head to PS - LR has the spot clone tool but it's not really the same as the options in PS. LR3's clone is much better than 2's but if you have fiddly stuff, go to PS.

No clue on the birds No sea sickness here. Dunno about any of the other passengers. Drake Passage was INSANE - it was so rough interior bulkheads bent, doors were blown off frames, everything in my friends' cabin was dumped off shelves & them out of their beds. My roomie and I didn't have that happen to us but it was pretty damned impressive when you could feel the 900 foot ship free fall off the back of a wave We're all looking to do it again in 2012 but on a smaller ship (the big ones do their last trips in 2011 - I really wanted to go, but life didn't really go as planned this year). I'd love to do the Falklands again - best time ever!

I've found that you have to be firm and stop that stuff in its tracks immediately. Give a definite date you'll get something done by or just say no. Those projects that have no finite time frame just drag on and on and you lose enthusiasm for it. Telling someone that you'd love to but you're simply enjoying doing your photography for yourself so are not prepared to make any commitments and thank you very much for your kind words, is perfectly OK. Unless I had a paying client there's no way I would give up MY time. And if I had a paying client, I'd be organized enough to not let that situation arise - usually! But when I do end up in that situation, it's always my own doing in the first place. Happily, my really way behind stuff is all personal. I'm running against several time limits for client stuff & feel behind where I would like to be, for sure, but am not to the deadlines yet Which is why I'm chained to my office chair today...playing catch up!
