I was at a house today and saw the coolest thing that I so want for some of my underwater stuff. The photo print was encased edge to edge in acrylic (it may have been glass but it didn't seem heavy enough for glass) and had beveled/rounded type edges so it looked really schmick and instead of hardware mount (a la ice mounts - which I also like) it had a metal frame type dealio on the back so the whole thing "floated" off the wall. It was super shiny. I have no idea who does these but I WANT! Anyone come across something like this?

I won't pay more for the same lens because I can walk into a brick & mortar store. I usually order everything from new york, but check prices with the big Aussie players, too. I think if you get a lens from somewhere DOLers have had good luck with, you'll be good. So, most importantly, what lens are you getting?

I do love me a leopard print!! Looks awesome!

found this at POTN You may be able to put CS5 and LR3 in your cart and use the code on top of the other discount, too. Doesn't hurt to try. This is the US site so make sure you're logged in properly  No idea if it works if you log in to the .au site.

Nice! My Dora has some love lady-like poses but we shan't share them on a family board -
Happens to everyone - and usually on those frames that you really really want LOL

Your lens may front focus slightly. It's common enough that Canon built in a feature on the newer models to fix it. Download a focus test strip (google it as i don't have the link right now) and set the test up as per the instructions. See what your results are. If you are finding front or back focus and your camera has a micro adjust feature, follow the directions in your manual to dial the lens in. If your body does not have this feature, send body and lens in to Canon for calibration. If the test shows your lens is spot on, then it's a technique issue. I don't know how you would have consistently gotten the eye in focus with the middle point selected and f2 here - better to move your point to the outer corner as focus and recompose with a shallow depth of field is very hit or miss.

Glad you are getting happier with your camera!

Check out the Sigma 18-200 - it's awesome and it covers a very nifty range.

Don't worry about covering the entire spectrum all at once. Get the body. Get a lens or two. Play, experiment, learn. Once you get a feel for what you love and what you are fussed about it will make narrowing your next lens choices down much easier and you won't end up with a closet filled with stuff you don't use. Master the basics on whatever you start with and then expand. Having more glass or a different body will not make you a better photographer. Being able to determine what glass will make what you want to do easier, will help you grow - but the only way to figure that out is to get out and shoot with whatever you have first. There will ALWAYS be one more lens you lust after so don't stress about getting them all at once :D

Just A Little More Help.. Last Time I Promise - Updated!

FWIW my "no" isn't about buying grey imports - the OP changed her post to add way more questions! I'd buy from whoever was cheapest with a good reputation. I would also buy the KISS instead of the other one because why would I spend more money on the same camera because it has a different name? Madness. And I think the video function myth was debunked - I'm almost positive you can change from NTSC to PAL on any of the versions of the body. -
Glad it arrived - would have been even faster to just download it You're going to love it!

most of the images I put here are from photobucket. can't stand dealing with the upload limit and i detest the little attached thumbnail instead of the full sized image when you attach an image to a post

Hehehe this makes me chuckle as I was just being grumpy about it this morning! They have recently changed their format when you first log in and I don't particularly like it either (it really doesn't seem like an improvement to what used to be totally straight-forward and intuitive) but I still like the ease of sharing by using the code way more. Also check the free limits. I haven't checked flickr recently (at least six months, I'd guess) but I know that I hit my free limit really fast but never have hit the free limit on photobucket. And free for me is essential - I don't want to pay for this service, honestly.

Pretty much all of the sites do something to your images - compressing or sharpening (flickr for this one). flickr is very interactive, moreso than photobucket, I think. Lots of groups to join and ways to connect with others. I had a flickr account but don't use it anymore. I use photobucket at the moment. For me, photobucket makes it easier to share images and put up multiple images in blogs and posts because their file names make sense so you can simply copy paste one and then change one little thing in the code. With flickr, each image gets a special code and so you have to click, click, copy, paste over and over and over again. This drove me mad. I think they are all fine and you can't go too wrong. Decide how you'll use them and what you want and that should help narrow it down for you.

Google is your friend - have fun!

Yes I've received mine - but because YOU made me buy the 30m 1.4 my stuff won't all fit in now (you can't keep switching threads to hide from me :p ) Photos! We demand photos! And you'll never have just ONE camera bag - you need several for different amounts/types of gear :p (says she whose closet door won't close coz of all the camera bags...)
-
LOL that's my backup bag print - I love me some tasteful leopard Love my Crumpler 6MDH though she doesn't get out and about much anymore. I have the periwinkle with orange and I adore it! Anyone else received their bags yet? We've only seen the one, I think!

Yup, it's a stonefish. Very bad to step on! They bury themselves in the sand so barely their eyes and the tip of their lips show. When a tasty treat swims by POW they explode out of the sand and gobble it down. It's awesome to watch, but takes about ten years off your life if you aren't ready for it Yesterday was filled with more weird critter goodness - in WA we call this a frogfish, the rest of the planet calls it a toadfish I use frogfish coz that's how I was introduced to them andwhat all other countries on the planet call "frogfish", I call "anglerfish" (which is more correct!). I will have some photos of an anglerfish up later today or tomorrow on my blog, for anyone who wants to look-see!
