  1. Awesome, has my return killed the thread?! LOL hope not 169/365 - dying olive sea snake on the beach today Canon 1DIII, Canon 100-400L with 1.4 TC @560mm, f8, 1/800, ISO400
  2. So happy to hear a) someone put aside safely for you and b)I'm not the only nutter shoving things in my bra while I'm shooting! Sometimes the big girls come in handy :D
  3. Aww, the black & white frog!
  4. Canon's 17-55 or Sigma's 17-50 would be my two votes. The Brick (Canon's 24-70) is a good lens when you get one that works, but frankly for the extra cash it costs AND the lack of the wider focal length on a crop it's not even a contender. The 17-55 is my workhorse and there's nothing it won't do for me. One of the best expenditures I've made. Basically you can't go wrong with any of those three - it comes down to personal preference and if you can live without the extra wideness. I wouldn't be without it, myself.
  5. Yes, it will work. it does look a little scary and I had no clue what it meant when I first opened it so I just used a logical guess process and viola it worked a charm.
  6. This is the only one I recommend now. Have recovered an amazing amount of data for myself and others with it. It recovered photos from over eight months of being written over (to say I was surprised was an understatement). PhotoRec
  7. 23/52 - Lobo, happy sun cat 24/52 - head bump of love
  8. I thought video was all manual focus & controls on most models (or at least for the best results)? Not to ask the obvious, but have you read the manual? What does it say for getting started? Tips for shooting video Another link Sorry, can't help - never had any interest in shooting video with my dslrs so haven't added a model with that capability!
  9. I draw the line at leeches unless I'm making some serious type cash on the project.
  10. Anyone wanting some prints they are 9 cents with code 9CJUNAU11 Looking for canvas? save 40% CANJUNAU11 I've had both prints and canvas printed with snapfish and always been satisfied with the quality and longevity. Hope it helps someone
  11. @huga - lovely again...but how have you done day 165?? ;) I doubt I will ever be able to catch up with my backlog (and I'd probably shut DOL down if I tried, it's been so long) so I'll put mine up as I can, if that's OK. I know it's not exactly the point of the thread... Day 164 - Lobo
  12. Think of it as "challenging" Hope you are getting some better results and loving the new gear!
  13. I love that you guys are still going strong. I'm still doing OK on shooting most days (but not every day, bad me) but getting them up anywhere just ain't happening still. huga #157 - love it! terranick - I'm still loving your SP series luvlottie - such variety! tlc - your dogs are such characters I've only had time to flick back a few pages so to all those others still going (even part time) well done! I hope to have some time soon to keep looking back (and god forbid, actually share again...)
  14. All the time. If I don't come back with a little blood and/or bruising, I probably haven't done all I could :D And I fell off a wall onto concrete once - saved the camera, hurted my head.
  15. How's it going with the noise? Also note that you will see more noise on your monitor than will show up in a print And don't be afraid of a little noise - those of us who have shot film (mmm black and white back in the day) know all about noise and it's not an evil killer necessarily! Black and white conversions will help with images that you deem too noisy for your tastes as it is often the colour noise that is particularly unappealing to many people.
  16. Kit - great Frenchies! crazy - love the siamese shot! helen - nice action shot evolving - echo looks so happy! MTD - such lovely colours in that sunset dogfan - I love that look he's giving you OK, still haven't caught up but no sense getting MORE behind! 13/52 - white tip reef shark flyby Canon 40D, Sigma 17-70, Subal housing & big dome port, 2 x Inon strobes (one of which was actually working!)
  17. 92/365 - can't see me, gonna pounce! Panasonic Lumix TS2
  18. hehehe look at those ears! too sweet!
  19. I'm really sick so don't have the energy to comment on everything but the last shots of them individually are a bit scary - you've got the monster foreheads happening And he's got wrinkles from trying to look up. Not flattering at all and I would be thinking twice about supplying those. The second one is cute and I like the processing. I like the bw of them kissing (though I'd be playing with the processing some more and you need to watch chopping bits off in this one and quite a few others, as has already been mentioned). The processing on most of the other colour ones doesn't seem polished or even & some of your crops seem non-standard and a bit odd. HTH
  20. Adore afternoon entertainment. I have to admit that I am not a fan of small dogs overall but Sid makes me WANT a Frenchie (and his pug buddy, too!)
  21. OK, have some from earlier this week up over on the bloggy - enjoy
