  1. Sorry, nudibranch. They are kind of like snails without shells = slugs Nudibranchs differ from true sea slugs by their rhinophores (the two little sticky up bits at the front) and their gills (the frillier looking bit in the back (out of the plane of focus here, leaning to the left of frame)). Nudibranch means "naked lung" - their gills (lungs) are on the outside. Here's one of the same species where you can see both bits - sorry for the reject photo, I couldn't get my camera down any further thanks to a very badly placed rock. I know, more than you wanted to know but I adore them
  2. Got out for a dive today. Saw some neat stuff. Had a good time. Quick nudi peeking up and sayin' hello:
  3. @dogfan - sorry for your loss Yes, I saw the pelican before I took the photo. @crazy - love the spidey!!
  4. OMG Angus is so freakin' adorable. I keep saying if I ever have to have a small dog, a Frenchie is going to be the way forward!
  5. Aww look at Phoebe Jolie looks serious there 43/52 MatildaLily & pelican at sunset
  6. If you have Canon mount lenses, yes.
  7. Ah, well, thanks. Not so helpful really. She was a total gem last night on our walk - no chasing cars, came every time she was called even when she was engrossed in something, well, gross, played nicely with some friends' dogs & came when I called when she was playing. No sign of the dingbat.
  8. Love the one of your son and kitty kiss! What new toy did you get?
  9. Probably won't do Xmas shots of my lot this year as I'll be away from the end of November. Shame to miss the fun of dressing them up since they love it so much but oh well love the tongue sticking out!
  10. So I know my dogs aren't winning any obedience awards but 99% of the time we all do just fine. The last week Tilly has been a real snothead when it comes to coming when I call her. And yesterday I thought my head would explode from keeping my frustration and grumpy in check. The last week she will sometimes come right away, all happy and stand or sit quietly for as long as I want her to. But now and again I could have a dumptruck load of treats waiting for her and she wouldn't obey. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to when she will and won't. I've tried to dissect the actions each time it happens and there's just nothing consistent to tip me that THIS is going to be the time she doesn't come. It seems to only happen once during a walk and the rest of the time she's fine. What can I do, other than keeping her on a leash at all times, to kick start her training/behaviour again? Even her favourite treats are not enticing her to come when she gets in a mood.
  11. So English Ivy - has it arrived yet???
  12. You're allowed to sell anything really. It's the whole getting caught thing ;) (ignoring the ethics of it, of course).
  13. At the closest they were only a few meters away. We were snorkeling so were on the surface. We knew they were there and hoped they'd come past - got lucky, they don't always! The mums don't sing, it's the males that sing and yes, there was quite a bit of whalesong while we were on the dive prior to this experience. Sound carries very well underwater so it sounds loud but the whale might be miles and miles away. It's great to hear, but after an hour of it you really just want them to be quiet LOL How spoiled is that?! Yes, they can be a bit snarky with boats and people in the water. Mums and males looking to mate, especially. But Jr was happy as a clam and it's a good indicator of the mom's attitude - not that there's anything you can do it they decide to get frisky!!
  14. A crack code is what you use on an illegal copy usually ;)
  15. And today swam with a mum and bub humpback whale! Only fired off a frame, was too busy watching them swim past
  16. Yup, Crazy got it - it's some sort of huge nudibranch (probably some sort of Dendrodorididae). Absolutely stunning! I've only ever seen one of these before.
  17. Otto is so adorable!! Love that perky ear and head tilt! 42/52
  18. Got in for a dive today and saw the most incredible animal - check out his close up here!
  19. I would suggest that some people need to get out more, if that's the case, but I digress.
  20. You do not need a release from the dog owner to use the photo legally. Academic realm or not does not change the law. Your university *may* have rules about photo usage that you need to follow that may be relevant but I doubt it as long as you have the photographer's permission. Oh, and a photographer does not need your permission to take a photo of your dog in a public place and use in it legal ways.
  21. Walking the dogs yesterday and came across these two turtles attempting to make baby turtles. They were super mellow and totally ignored us. He'd been on her for a while as he was totally dry. After a bit he tried to scoot off her and it made the biggest squeaking noise as his dry belly rubbed over her dry shell - it was too funny to watch. And it got even funnier when he tried to swim off, got confused and headed the wrong way and finally just stopped to look around. Dumb dumb dumb...but so cute! iPhone
  22. Woohoooo!!!! Charge it up, Baby!!
  23. If you can't afford this one, wait for closer to the end of next year - some trickle down to the new consumer models should be in place by then. It *could* happen by April '12 but I'm not holding my breath for Canon to release super new contenders so close to the public launch of this sexy beast!
  24. Thanks, Guys It's always fun out with the whales. Kirislin: yes, you can hear them blow, slap the water and crash back into the sea when they breach. Hearing them breathe is the coolest, I reckon. I can even hear it during our walks on the beach sometimes. They aren't singing at this time of their migration so you can't hear that. Whale snot smells :D
