Harry has no problem with only one eye. Didn't seem to have any trouble adapting when he lost it earlier this year at all. Boof & Lobo are 17ish and Harry is 15ish All are healthy (more or les, Boof has hyperthyroidism), happy, active (cough) and endlessly entertaining & cuddle-able! They all get on great with the doglets, often grooming or being groomed and head bumping/snuggling.

Boof is my great hunter and lizards are his favourite snacks. Lobo thought he might be able to steal something from Boof (Lobo is too lazy to hunt and really doesn't like lizards anyway) so he came over to intimidate Boofa, but suprise! Boof stood up for himself and scared the beejesus out of Lobo It was a proud Kitty Mama moment, really. Later Lobo decided that if he stared at the kitchen counter hard enough, the Noms would appear. Harry is far too dignified to be involved with that kind of nonsense and just does the cool cat pose in the afternoon sun streaming through the side window. How you doin'? My gorgeous one eyed kitty

Crazy - I knew there was something that made this go "ding" in my tiny brain! I'm looking forward to your BWs! And that's exactly what I was going for in the processing, too - he was mightily grumpy coz Boof had just kicked his ass and Boof is the lowest kitteh in the household.

Easier and faster to manipulate and organize. LR doesn't do true layers which are useful for intensive edits, so you need PS for those. Most cloning processes etc are better off in PS, too. LR does what I need at least 95% of the time. I prefer using it for many "basic" adjustments including curves usually. The new sharpening features in LR are pretty good, but for complete control, PS is the winner. If PS is working for you and you're comfortable in it you may not feel the need to change. Every person I personally know who was a huge PS user and then added LR now uses LR far more, but hasn't ditched PS - just modified their workflow to take advantage of each tool's powers.

I was messing about this morning and thought maybe this would be useful to some others who might not have played with it before. I can't remember that we've talked much about this so I do apologise if we've been here, done this already! Lightroom is an essential tool for editing your photos, imho. Even if you really don't want to "edit". It's amazingly powerful and oh so easy to tweak. I was preparing an image of my cat Lobo and trying to get the black and white to do what I needed it to do when I had my "must share with DOL" moment. All I've done is manipulate the Temperature and Tint sliders in Lightroom to give slightly different feels to the end BW. So many people I know don't remember to use those two sliders when dealing with a BW/monotone image, but they can really make a difference (hopefully you can see the subtleties in the top two, the bottom two are easier to see). Anyhoo - hope it helps someone or at least gives you something to play with

If someone is displaying copyrighted material without the appropriate permission and they refuse to do anything about it, make sure to get screen shots and make notes on dates. Send them an invoice. Send them a letter from a solicitor - this is one place where organizations can help you. (like AIPP etc) Contact their IP - it's usually in the service contract and the company can pull the whole site. Read the fine print on places like Facebook, Photobucket, Flikr etc so you know what can and can't be done with your images. The "rights" we grant by uploading to some sites are pretty extensive and usually buried in heavy language and way down deep in the agreements no one actually reads. It's up to each of us to stand up against theft even if "it's no biggie" or "I don't mind".

Does he have a budget? IMHO you can't go wrong with either model at all. Most people will never get the full benefit of the 7D and will never notice the things it may "do better" than the 60D. Of course, most people will also never fully utilize the full potential of the 60D, either How seriously does he edit? If his budget allows then the issue of controlling things in the edit stage should be a consideration. That's more than most people will deal with so it's really a non-issue for most users. As he's already in multimedia, then this might be one of those little things that pushes him to spend the extra dosh. Both are superb - no wrong answer unless a need is very specific, and then the buyer is going to recognize that.

Check out the 600D - I've played with it briefly and it was nice. Not sure of the price but Canon's least expensive range is the xxxD followed by the xxD and then the 7D (all of these are 1.6 crop cameras that will take any lens Canon makes).

Don't forget, you need to make sure the photo you send is good - they don't "fix" them and if you send rubbish, you'll get rubbish ;)

I haven't had a photobook done but have had canvas and standard prints done. I was impressed by the quality for the price. Very little fading on the canvas even after a few years and exposure to quite a bit of light. Prints show no deterioration and the colours matched what I sent them which is a huge thing for me. Everything I have had done looks a zillion times better than anything I have seen out of the likes of Harvey Norman, KMart, chemist kiosks, Kodak shops etc. I'd say go for it

Crazy turtle mating yesterday! There were 100s of turtles in the shallows and snorkeling with them was amazing! I attracted the unwanted attention of a couple of males who couldn't get a handle on a stack of three turtles who were already mating and I was having to defend my honor pretty aggressively at one stage LOL Naughty beasties! Two quickies up on the blog - more later this week and maybe a video if I get time, too!
