Weird Grid Lines, Am I The Only One Who Can See Them?
kja replied to Kirislin's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
Are those lines only on this frame or are they in every photo? If it's only this frame, it's just something odd and I wouldn't stress. -
Love all the week 9s! 9/52 - had to get this guy off the screen door before I could go outside

Got out for a day's diving yesterday and was so hoping to spend some quality time getting back into the groove with my BGC but the Sea Gods weren't having any of it. 1) I ended up diving with a friend who doesn't stop to just hang out much, 2) the conditions were super tricky for uw photography and 3) my leak alarm on my underwater housing went off not far into the dive which required I surface and empty the water out It doesn't look like it was a bad leak, but there were some water droplets in various places. I saw none on any of the electronics so that is very good news. I'll pull the whole thing apart today - didn't have the right equipment with me yesterday to do it on the boat - and double check everything to see if I can find the problem. So, I ended up just playing with the GoPro Hero2 and the Panasonic TS3. I haven't downloaded any of the videos yet but here's a still shot from the Panny - it did a pretty good job, I think. Is is these (there's another longer one under it, slightly to the right)? These look out of place to me. Also, did you sharpen this image - it looks really wonky to my eye. -
A New App For You Lucky I Phone Users......

I don't have an iPhone 4 and it works for me. I have the 3 something. -
Just an update: three of the six pups that were coming to Exmouth have been adopted by forever homes The other three are still in Carnarvon and the vet thinks they will come up today or tomorrow. She's going to contact me if they still need foster parents, but she's pretty confident that she has good homes for these three, too!! The last three are staying in C'von as they also have forever homes already. So, I'll be sad that I can't play with a puppy but super happy if they've all found great homes :)

I adore my Siggy 30 1.4 but honestly I don't use it as much as I should. It's just a touch too wide sometimes. If you love the 50 focal length, get the Siggy - you won't be happy with the compromise on having a zoom but no 1.4 whichever way you jump on the zoom. And I personally don't like the 24-70, 2.8 or not ;) Of course, if you can afford both the 30 and the 50, do it :D

I would *think* the 5MDH home would work for what you want. I have the six and can pack that baby like no one's business! Have you checked the Crumpler site? They actually have a little diagram that shows what can go in each one. Also head to POTN coz there is a Crumpler thread about every two minutes - and if you can't find one to suit your question, ask & someone will help!

Thanks for the link! I'm so far liking this far better than instagram. I've put a few up on Facebook, but for some reason now I can't them to upload there (they go to photobucket just fine) -
I'm with Telida Whippets from her first post...but I let her down coz I do have an album with "furkids" on my Facebook

How To Get This Crispness And Colour In A Photo?
kja replied to pesh's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
Good solid exposures in camera to start with, too. -
I admit it's pretty nice in many ways :)

I wanted to move my TS2 into my hire fleet for the upcoming season (I also added a housing so it can go diving on all dive sites) so picked up the TS3 for me :)

From yesterday - more on the blog :) All snorkeling: depths 3-5m Hairy hermit crab Juvenile tawny nurse shark Juvenile Clarkii anemonefish I was very impressed with the detail on the shots from today and it gives me hope that as I learn this camera it will come close to being as good as my Canon A720 in the Canon housing @Kirislin - as long as you remember that this is a compact camera when you're trying to do action shots, you should be OK. It will seem dirt slow compared to your dslr. Burst mode works pretty well. I find focus is hit or miss quite often on fast subjects (like the doggies) but that may be because I haven't figured out the best setting. Which is, to me, a problem because I never had to futz with settings on my baby Canon SD1200 IS. I also find the pixels to be a bit squishy sometimes, even in bright daylight. I find that odd. But for my purposes it works OK - I share on the net. Have not printed from this camera yet but would expect 4x6s to be fine and probably up to 8x12ish.
-
Thanks, All! I'm having a blast playing around :) @Kirislin - do you want the details for water work or overall?
-
No go so far. Butcher said no.

Anyone know? Northern suburbs preferred. Or do most butchers have them?

I've been out snorkeling and diving with my new baby Panasonic TS3 and while she has some limitations, I am enjoying using her and the images are turning out pretty well. I shot some video on yesterday's dive but haven't gotten than up yet, will share when I do. In the meantime, here are some underwater stills - all images are with the camera only, no housing, no external strobe. Blue spotted stingray guarded by some fishies | snorkeling 3m Green turtle resting | diving 10m Green turtle swimming | diving 10m Stonefish doing his camouflage thing | snorkeling 3m Sparkly bubble coral shrimp pair | diving 10m Sparkly bubble coral shrimp - cropped | diving 10m Fishies | diving 10m Pair o' fishies | snorkeling 2m There are more on the bloggy :) Enjoy!

I use a house sitter whenever I go away, but I've always used a friend. I did have to rely on a friend of a friend one year for a few weeks as my original house sitter had to fly home unexpectedly with a family crisis. The new person couldn't move into the house, but did a fantastic job making sure my furries weren't bored or neglected. It worked just fine (and that friend of friend is now a friend).
