Hopefully we'll have some good news about a forever home soon - a friend of mine just anonymously donated $250 towards Puppy's adoption process and I'll be announcing it in our local email and on Facebook.

I'm trying to not be biased but every day, he gets cuter :)
-
@Kuma - hope you are feeling better! 12/52 - my girls watching the sunrise

I'll probably download it and have a play around. I'm not a huge Photoshop user so I already don't get all I could out of PSCS5 - but some of the features in CS6 sound interesting. I haven't looked to see what the final upgrade cost will be, but if it's not a total deal, I won't change to 6 after the Beta unless I find something I simply can't live without - and that's not very likely.

Great that you felt good about your photos and are looking forward to next year

Hey, Guys! Can you please keep an ear open for anyone who wants to adopt a truly fabulous male pup? Exmouth seems to be saturated with recent puppy acquisitions and we aren't having much luck finding a forever home for the little guy I am fostering. And I can only foster for a little while longer so it's getting kind of urgent. I think I can arrange transport down to Perth for the little tyke if I can find a home there for him in the near future, so rehoming to Perth (or anywhere in between Exy & Perth) could be an option. Anyhoo - let me know if you have any ideas, please!

Puppy keeps getting cuter every day. I so want him to go to his forever home soon! And one of his favourite places to sleep - not the best choice as sometimes I forget he's there!

And a dragonfly, too

Sigma 30 1.4 lens works a treat if you want prime for low light and smaller spaces and tight budgets. My Canon 17-55 IS is one of my workhorses that I couldn't imagine being without - it just works every time, all the time. Would be a very versatile and budget friendly choice. Never been interested in the heavy & overpriced 24-70, personally. Canon's 24L 1.4 is orgasmic, but pricey. I shoot about 6.3 ish for groups - I'll stop that down to f9 with massive groups, though probably don't really need to.

Ah, is this what a katydid looks like?! I never knew - thanks! I just call all the scary leapy things "grasshoppers" :D
-
And the teensy ta-ta that guards my BCD on the front patio @Kirislin - yup, they're called ta-tas because they pick up one foot and wave :D I have roughly 7,843,278,123 around my house

You can alawys sell the 70-200 and sock the money away until you know. No law says you have to replace a sold lens ASAP. I still think whap it on and force yourself to use it - you might be surprised. I have renewed appreciation for that zoom range after watching some of Bambi Cantrell's recent CreativeLive seminar and I'm going to force myself to play with it more during the next few weeks as I usually only use it for specific things/scenarios and I think I'm limiting myself by doing so.

Came back from our morning beach walk and was going to do the dishes. No way when this scary guy is sitting on the faucet!! Of course, I had to throw on the 100mm macro and take his photo... Later, I looked out on the patio and this ta ta was lounging so I whapped on the 100-400

Same, same. If you're happy to sell what you aren't using or what isn't working for you, then why not? I've gotten to a point now that I have no gear lust so it's hard for me to not think first about just being bored and trying new things with what one already has. It's something I don't do enough and know that it's far more important to do that than to have a particular piece of kit. I also think that if you truly want something, you won't be questioning it - you'll just do it coz it will feel right.
-
If you have the cash, why not? If it's just because you are bored with what you are doing re: photography - set yourself a challenge to learn something new or break out that 70-200 you say you never use and learn to use it. Or get online and find a topic you may or may not have been interested before, watch some videos on the technique and do only that for the next week. GAS is a seductive thing but sometimes just doing something completely different achieves better results. I, too, keep thinking this is the year I add another body to my tool kit but nothing's really made me make the jump or enticed me so much I know I just have to have it... on the other hand, shopping is fun :)

Tilly is playing so well with Puppy - they have a blast on the beach! They don't take many breaks but I snagged a shot of them resting up for the next round this morning
-
Oh no, I was wrong LOL I counted the last days of Feb and the 1st few days of March as two weeks, not one! D'oh!
-
OK, somehow I've lost a week! I thought this was week 11 but it's actually week 12 (11-17 March). I don't know how I got confused but oh well. nm - I was confused. Week 11 ended on 17 March, week 12 goes from 18-24 March. I'm such a silly! 11/52 - my foster puppeh

Had a lovely beach walk this morning. It must be autumn coz I had to put on a long sleeve shirt for the first part of our walk LOL Puppy loves the beach Found his first cuttlefish bone today and thought it was super neatorific

tunagirl - so far the Vet here is not having any luck finding a new home for the little guy I'm fostering (or his brother). Our town is very small and a bit oversaturated with pups at the moment. I'm starting to get worried about the future for this awesome pup so if you're interested, please please give them a ring on Monday. I'm happy to answer any and all questions about him!
-
Nope, not tempted at all to keep him. I don't want another puppy/dog and I originally told the vet I was only available until the end of this month. I so hope he gets adopted soon - it totally breaks my heart that someone is missing out on all this cool time with him. He truly is an exceptional pup!
-
A bit breezy on the beach this morning - good thing Puppeh only has little ears!
-
Job well done!

Head tilt right Head tilt left He's such a little gem! I know it's only been a few days but I'm frustrated that he doesn't have a forever home yet - he's absolutley wonderful and such a quick learner. Definitely faster to get new things than either of my current girls were at this age (and not nearly as destructive!)

Nice shot! Yes, your zoom is for those subjects that are farther away than you will be able to comfortably shoot (without massive cropping) with your shorter lens. 300mm is a nice long reach but it's not magic - if you are shooting something tiny a very long way away, it's still going to be small in the frame. Best thing you can do is what you are doing - whap it on there and get out and shoot :) You likely will not be able to be as close to your subjects with the 300mm zoom as you would be with your kit lens, so watch your minimum focus distance.
