Wow, you guys are too kind I know my work is OK; it's no where near NG quality, but I totally LOVE the compliment!! Instead of starting my morning finishing off the last of my pre-holiday tasks, I thought I'd wander through some files from a few months ago since I haven't yet had time to even go through them (how bad is that?!) My friend videoing a pair of cuttlefish The pair of cuttlefish A coral trout (yummo!)

One of huga's did not get silver (judged yesterday) but TWO did (judged today)

Woohoo!! Silver at 81 :) Several 83 and 78 scores - no discussion.

LOl just sat down and here you are in room 2!!
-
Cool, I liked listening to him (and some of the others). what score is professional level? Something in the 70s?

Do you know Adam?

Way to go on your silver

oooo you're up! room 1!!

One of the hardest things to do, imho, is put personal feelings aside and judge on merits. I'm glad I don't have to look at all of these prints and judge them! BTW - what score is professional level, huga?
-
Do they offer anything later, like when they notify you?

Jane, CC, Kelsie, Monet - thanks!! Glad you enjoy them :) Woof - nah, I don't do much with them really. Had to thank some really bad divers who kicked up so much sand that I finally went to the top of the ledge to wait them out - I rarely check out the top of the ledge as I'm so busy with what's underneath. But if not for them I wouldn't have come across this Bornella anguilla nudibranch munching on lunch (how neat is his eye?) As I was waiting patiently for the nudi to move into a better position, I noticed this tiny funky scorpionfish about ten feet away. He kept hopping forward a bit every little while, getting a bit closer to me or forcing me to move out of the way And then the scorpionfish hopped across a little crevice in the reef to end up right near the nudi! It was cool.

I agree, especially when scores are so different! But then again, with the way some of those judges rambled on about some of the images they'd be there for a month They have seemed to do it when there was a similar disparity but with slightly higher marks. Dunno, you'll have to ask Alicia how they decide what to talk about and what not to talk about. I get the impression they spend more time with images that are close to gaining an award and those that aren't close don't get much attention. Which I guess makes sense as the judges aren't there to teach exactly so the limited time they do have to offer feedback is presumably considered best used on those images are just about but not quite there. Do you have any idea what room your images are in? I figure it's random but I'd like to see yours!!
-
Yeah, I knew what you meant ;) It would have been nice to get feedback, but they weren't offering feedback on a lot of images - even ones that scored well. They just scored it and moved on usually. It has been interesting to watch the tidbits I've popped in for, glad you all put the link up :)

From what I saw if a print wasn't already a silver or higher or if at least one judge didn't have it silver distinction or higher, there was no discussion.

1:40 73 73 75 75 60 were the scores

Room 4, documentary, slide the bar about 3/4ish to the right - I should have grabbed the time code for you...let me see if I can find it again... 1:40 73 73 75 75 60 were the scores
-
Just found it - 71.

That's one I saw! I'm sorry I don't remember what it received, though

What a fun, unexpected outing! For the first two lions, zoom or crop onto the faces - the body and the background don't work at all and simply look cluttered & snapshotish. Love the meerkat sitting up, cute pose caught! I would have liked to see him looking into the frame (so he's on the left instead of the right).

Okie, spill - which one in docu was yours and how did it do?!

21/52 - gentle aloe
