What Food Can Your Dog Not Resist?
grumpette replied to Loving my Oldies's topic in General Dog Discussion
I am rapt that you and Danny are making progress. There is nothing worse than the food battle, especially when you have to give medication with it. The fantastic feeling you get when they eat well is amazing. Better than winning money. May you both continue to move forward and to have really good days together. -

Truly a dog's life Tomorrow they get a bit ripped off. They will be home alone with a bone most of the day, and then training tomorrow night at Bulla, which means a catch up with their siblings Flint and Fire. -

That depends. Will you eat veggies with your meat? Do you like gravy and/or soup added to you meat in winter time? Do you like the occasional chicken drumstick or osso boco as a snack? Do you like watching DVDs on the couch with the humans in winter or at night? Do you like long walks in the country, going to markets, swimming and visiting people, especially kids parties? Do you like dixie cup ice creams in summer? Or watermelon? Do you like lazy mornings reading the paper in bed or out on the back patio in the sun? So many conditions to follow living in this house -

Thank you DDD and VM :) We both take the responsible care, protection and promotion of our breed seriously. This makes for a much safer and happier community, and very happy dogs. But we don't spoil them. You just ask them. Zeph told me. He told me of the conditions he has to endure. Yep, he told me some days his tail ACHES with the excitment of wagging so very much as great things happen in his day. If only every dog scored a loving human... if only. His tail worked pretty hard today. Breakfast. Then a car ride to Hurstbridge. A run around the oval chasing his ball, followed by a walk around the wetlands. Then a car ride to Whittlesea to run a few errands, get some lunch and pats from his adoring public. Then home to chew a bone and snooze in the sun. Poor dog -

The groundwork laid down from birth to going to the new owner makes a huge difference as well - on top of the health checks and temperament choices for sire and dam... who wouldn't want one of these glorious little masterpieces of doggydom? Makes the follow through by the owner so much easier when you have a stable tempered and healthy pup to work with, yes? T. Absolutely. Those formative 8 to 10 weeks are so very important for forming the puppies character and allowing the breeder to work out which puppy is chilled and cruisey and which is going to be full on and naughty. And knowing the temperament and health of the dogs that lie behind the sire and dam is also so important. Because sometimes traits, whether behavioural or physical, skip a generation and can manifest themselves in the grandkids. So I don't mind waiting for the right sire to be found who will totally compliment the bitches that I love. I waited 3 years for Baylee to come along, and 4 years for Dee to arrive. I also love the fact that I know the breeder so well that I get to photograph the puppies from day one, thus capturing priceless memories of the puppies earliest days. It is great for the new owners to have those early puppy photos and for the breeders to have those records to compare the mature dogs to. :D -

Does it not happen that a dog from the next generation is special, in its own rights, though? Oh absolutely they are. Dee is not the confident working dog that Baylee was, but she has a great clown personality, loves to learn and will keep trying until she gets it, and she has the most divine tail. Zeph is very like Baylee, but is more easily distracted when working. However, he is a dog that loves company, children and other dogs. He has the most gorgeous smiley face and loves to work. He is a great snuggler. I adore them both and would not swap them for the world. They have taught me so much and entertained me even more. -

I would give anything to have another Baylee, but that is never going to happen. You breed not to repeat history but to improve on the previous dogs. But I can dream. :) -

I am certain that our next one will be a girl. They don't suffer boy brain when trialling. However, the boys tend to be more snuggley and pat tarts. Oh no does that mean that we will have two puppies next year -

These should help deter all those that would love a Rotty puppy, but just cannot fit one in to their household at the moment: Crazy summer fun complete with Dee crazy eyes and Zeph showing that he is the boss. -

Brilliant KC and Josephine. That is an awesome article. -
If one or two left home and moved to Stressmagnet's house, you could then have a Rottie pup from Allerzeit

Way way to cute. -
teela while you are trying to get the agility sorted, are you able to do rally o at the club that you attend now? It is much better than normal obedience, faster and contains some jumps once out of novice. It is also so easy to make yourself a rally o set to use when clubs break for the Christmas holidays. Just a thought.
