  3. So now the breeder is willing to sell you this pup, and you are being hesitant about whether you actually now want it? T. What part are you not understanding? It was not until she called me and we spoke again that I posed a particular question to her and she provided me with the answer, had I not asked that question I never would have known…..it certainly did not come up in conversation the first couple of times we spoke on the phone. I'm understanding that your are (rightfully) fussy about what you want in a pup... but are a bit naffed off at breeders who appear to be just as fussy about who they choose to sell a pup to. I've recently decided on a breed (that I've owned before) and a breeder I want a pup from. I could have had one from a recent litter, but the timing is not conducive for me to bring a pup into my hectic life.... but I WILL be travelling to Tasmania sometime before the litter comes up that the timing is right for to meet the breeder and their dogs in person. I live in NSW. True quality is worth waiting for... T. The National is in NSW next year, so you may be able to meet sooner than you think
  4. Dogs Victoria Dog centre at the Calabria Club 5 Uniting Lane, Bulla, Vic 3428 (near the aircraft viewing area behind Melb airport)would be perfect. About Bulla Exhibition Centre DOGS Victoria has leased the competition areas and meeting rooms at the Calabria Club. The site remains the property of the Calabria Club, who will continue to use the main buildings for weekend functions and occasional weekday events. The main competition area is the outdoor oval. There is an indoor area suitable for breed club events. Parking is available on four sides of the oval. Download the indoor ring layout, the outside ring layout, the overall outdoor area map, or the meeting rooms plan. Drinks, coffee, meals and snacks can be purchased from the bar and bistro located in the main building. A small kiosk with seating area is also located next to the secretary's office on the main oval. Please contact the DOGS Victoria office: Locked K9, Cranbourne Vic 3977 or by fax 9788 2599 or email to [email protected] to see if it may be available.
  5. Damn, I would love to help with this, and Dee would be perfect, but I am a type 1 diabetic, so I guess that rules me out, even though I have very good control. I wish you all the very best with the training and study.
  6. The hardest thing is regaining your confidence and keeping the anxiety down while you are out for a walk, especially straight after an incident. I still have to make sure that I go to the toilet just before I walk Dee, in case something happens and I pee my pants. Milk the situation for all it is worth I say HD :D
  7. Oh HD what a nightmare walk you had. Huge hugs to you and Jake. I am thinking that the owners of the attacking dog are not going to report the incident to council because they cannot be bothered to take the dog to the vet. It also suggests that the dog was not badly hurt, especially if your OH could not find any wounds. Yes the dog most likely will be bruised, but that is all. I used to walk Dee and Zeph together until the last off lead dog attack. We were walking along the main road, which has log trucks, water tankers and other traffic driving along it, and a Pomeranian ran out of it's open front gate and attacked both dogs. They both grabbed the dog, one on the hips and the other on the shoulders. I yelled drop, so they both dropped. Then I said give, so they both let the dog go. By this time it had stopped screaming and the owner came out of the house. The dog got up and went to the owner, who promptly told it to get inside and kicked it up the arse. Needless to say I was a mixture of furious that the dog was not contained and terrified that the dog was seriously injured. I took the dogs back home and went back to the house. We looked at the dog and it was a bit wet with slobber and missing a bit of fur, but no puncture wounds. I do not know how. I went around there the next day and the dog was a bit bruised and sore, but still as crazy as before. At least the gate was closed. So if my 45-50kg dogs did not severely hurt the Pomeranian, them I don't think that Jake would have hurt a spaniel sized dog. Time for some bloody good Chocolate and a good stiff drink. I hope that you are doing better today. I now walk them one at a time, as the gate is sometimes open and the dog rushes halfway down the driveway.
  8. Which trial was these photos taken at? Sunbury or Bendigo? I just cant place the background.. And you will get there with him. These photos are of Dee and were taken in Adelaide this year in June. The weather was abysmal but she did not care. Thank you very much for the encouragement. :D
  9. They certainly know how to mess with your mind, and keep you non-complacent that is for sure. I have spoken with the engineer and he knows what I am talking about and thinks that it is doable. Now to find out when and a price.
  10. They are so very happy. Brilliant
  11. I just looked at my UD articles and they are smooth as well. I will ask a friend who does metal work and see whether he can knurl them. If he can do it, you can give your metal articles to Sam at training, and she can give them to me at Bulla training.
  12. I swear to God he will be the death of me. He showed the most promise and beautiful working ability out of all the boys, very attentive and focused, then teenage hood set in and he became so distracted. Except when retrieving especially around water, hence water rescue training. He will ignore everything else, even bitches swimming in close proximity. Totally focused on me. Dee on the other hand would not retrieve if her life depended on it and was not attentive or confident. She was never going to get out of CCD. Now she enters Open trials and does beautifully. She will be using the UD articles before her brother. Confused much
  13. I bought a set of UD articles when Zeph was 6 weeks old, as he loves to carry things: Five and a half years later we have only just started in Open. Bloody boy brain
  14. They do say that dogs pick us, we do not pick them, and in this case it is very true. I swear that they know more about the ways of the Universe than we do. Beautiful story.
  15. I am so sorry that you had a really bad incident while on your walk. I hope that your back settles down again and you and your boy can go back to enjoying your walks. I totally agree that children should not be in control of dogs, especially medium to large breeds. And on dusk. What the hell was the father thinking.
  16. That look was based on how long it took to get the 3 CDX passes but thanks for the congratulations. I am still smiling! A huge congratulations Sue. See perseverance pays off, and a bloody good sense of humour when it does not go quite to plan. So ..yes sense of humour when things don't go to plan ..definitely a prerequisite for UD :-) Ah yes... A sense of humour and a supply of cider! Ah - maybe it's the cider that's the secret ingredient I need. That is how Dawn used to get through out of sight stays. And remembering to breathe while in the ring is apparently important as well
  17. 2, as she is more graceful in that shot than in number 1. She appears a bit awkward and off balance in number 1

  19. It was me. I love her and now I can watch her grow through your photos.
  20. That is brilliant. It takes so much effort and time to get overseas sports recognised here in Australia. It is the same when you are trying to get different breeds included as eligible breeds to compete. It took over 10 years for Rottweilers to be allowed to compete in herding. Again a brilliant effort by all those involved. Roll on January 2015.
  21. Well my Gorgeous Girl a year has passed. Some things have changed but much is still the same. We miss you like crazy. Zeph has not gone back to his usual playful self, especially with Dee. He misses having a swimming and ball chasing partner. Dee has become the clown of the family but misses your games of chasey first thing in the morning very much. Both Dee and Zeph are in Open now!! Yes, I know Dee got her act together and loves to work now, because it involves chasing things. Both Dee and Zeph are doing water rescue now. Yes, Dee is swimming. Not as confidently as you and Zeph but she is having a go and having fun. We humans miss you even more. Your noisy presence, your comforting snoring, you having the last word and our gentle walks around the neighbourhood as a cool down after the hectic walks of the younger two. Your photos are all over the house, on the computers and phones, so you are not far away. We have entered you and Bliss in a photo competition as a tribute. The one of you girls swimming at Kepala chasing balls. It was one of your favourite places and something that you and Bliss loved to do. I hope that there is lots of swimming, balls, bubbles and cute boy dogs where you are at the Bridge. You may be physically gone but will never be forgotten. Love you heaps Gorgeous Girl.
  22. That could work, especially if you are good at making or hanging curtains. I have a few things that need doing around the house, and in return I could do a few things for you around your house or in the garden. :D
  23. A very good point HD. However, both the Rotties here have learnt to trade. They will bring you a toy or sock or shoe or any item that is lying around in the hope that you will swap it for a treat, or the leftovers on your plate. At breakfast time you can amass a very impressive array of toys for a corner of vegemite toast. So the current co-owner would always be even, but most likely ahead in the toy stakes.
  24. Maybe we should start a Rotty Rental service. Like a time share for those that cannot have one full time. You send me yours for a week or two and I will send you mine. Of course an extensive questionnaire would need to be filled out stating: likes and dislikes; sleeping arrangements; exercise requirements and preferences; menu suggestions; favourite TV viewing etc. Of course each owner would supply all toys and clothing, but hostees are free to gift new toys to the visitor.
