  1. OMG Pers, how the hell did you keep a straight face when he came back Our Don is no hunter
  2. BCC you and Stella are doing brilliantly. Mega impressed with the ability to do selective meet and greets. Fantastic work. And such dedication. The constant exposure and continued positive experiences are resulting in enormous progress, and much better outings for you both.
  3. Excellent work Jake. It sounds like he is becoming the calming dog that allows more stressed dogs to work through their issues, which indicates that he has come a very long way. Something to be really proud of hankdog
  4. I do denali and he is gorgeous. We have a great play and then down to work. His hair goes all crinkly like Shirley Temple curls when wet.
  5. Why IPO sport titles only? Why not ANKC working titles? Some states do not allow IPO Sports. Because ANKC doesn't test a dogs nerve strength. Depends on what you want too. Some people like hard dogs, some like prey monsters, some like dogs that walk that little on the edge. There is no guarantee a 'working' litter will even produce the goods. A higher propensity, sure. But again, depends on your goal. Very true, different drives for different purposes. However, ANKC do test a dog's character in other ways. Both have tracking. Both have obedience. ANKC also has herding, Rally O, agility. A few clubs are also working on getting carting recognised, and there is weight pull. All activities that a Rottweiler should be able to perform extremely well in. There is also the NRCA breed survey.

  7. I am a failed dog trainer . That black beast can be lying on my feet - then he accelerates from 1>60 in 4 seconds and is gone - after something moving , somewhere..... I mean - there HAS to be a rabbit/roo/goat/bird/sheep that needs chasing ... *sigh* It is much easier to have him on a longline than get frustrated ... yes, he does get a free run sometimes ..after I do a perimeter check & make sure NOTHING is moving withing 1/2 km !!! *sigh* He comes back brilliantly if there is nothing moving anywhere else ... Dee and Don are exactly the same and would get on famously :D Another failed trainer with an extenda lead
  8. All great food but fart fodder for the 1st few meals of winter..... at least with HOrrible Herbet Not even a tummy grumble evident from the Rotties. Poor Horrible Herbet. Better pack that squeaky duck :D
  9. The same conditions were on Zeph's letter and that was at the end of 2009. I think it is part of the Vic government increased regulation of breeders.
  10. Pers, you live in the most amazing place :D
  11. My dogs love soup/casserole season. They always get some mixed in with the fresh meat. Lamb shanks and veggie soup with barley. This usually has carrots, celery, garlic, swede, turnip, barley and fresh herbs. Pumpkin and sweet potato soup. Minestrone. Chicken noodle with veggies. And stews. They love mashed potato/sweet potato/pumpkin mixed with their meat, vets all natural and sardines. The only vegetable that I don't give them is corn kernels. They pass straight through.
  12. Beautiful photos Denali. Your dogs have such great personalities.
  13. OMG I don't think I could cope without a warning. My dogs are great they will head for the doors and make it most times They just cannot open the doors. Thank Dog for brick floors. All those with soggy doonas, in winter of all times, you have my sympathies. ETA Oh LG, Tempeh is pure evil
  14. That is brilliant news to read. Silly bloody dog stressing you so. But extremely lovable and definitely worth it.
  15. Nothing makes a dog owner bolt out of bed faster than the blurg blurg of a dog about to
  16. Stunning photo. And the look of determination on Neko's face
  17. Leonbergers are the best dogs. Zeph does water rescue with the most gorgeous Leo named Charlie. He is 64kg and 16 months old.
  18. kirislin, stunning photos as usual. Absolutely brilliant. A huge congratulations on organising and running such a great event.
  19. Bugger, we were in Ballarat. I will keep an eye out for this event next year. I think that Zeph would have given it a good try.
  20. I luvs those ears. They are brilliant. Cannot wait to see how she matures and fills out. ETA I love that photo of Daisy. It so captures her cheekiness.
  21. Yes the sliding to one side is a pain in the backside, as I have to continually stop and readjust. I love the look of the new one. Do we have a supplier in Aust or do you have to order from O/S?
  22. Those Hurtta coats look brilliant, especially the chest piece and no belly strap, but are they rather hot? Zeph heats up when walking, so he does not need extra padding, apart from the fact that he would prefer to walk naked in the rain. He also won't pee if the belly strap goes anywhere near his doodle. He is so blood precious. He has very little undercoat, so gets very wet even in light rain. Dee has a great undercoat and stays rather dry, so does not really need a jacket, but for heavier rain a jacket makes it easier to dry her. They both have light weight jackets for walking in the dark/fog with reflective stripes.
  23. Yep it depends a lot on the breed and whether they are desexed or not. Rotties will reach their full height at about 2 years, but if left entire they will continue to mature and lay down muscle mass until about three years old. This is the reason why it is recommended to desex larger breed dogs later, so that the muscle and tendons/ligaments can fully develop and protect the joints, hopefully preventing joint problems in later life.
  24. Yep, I remember getting a letter from the one remaining neighbour to allow Zeph to stay, but could not remember if I paid a fee. I have only ever paid their yearly rego from then on.
  25. I have a friend who lives there too, but she's only on a 1/4 acre block I am pretty sure that I had to pay a one off fee and then the yearly rego for all three dogs, but that was nearly 6 years ago. I just looked at Zeph's permit and it was lodged in late 2009 and expires in June 2015. But it is not current at the moment, because Baylee passed away in late 2013, so we automatically went to 2 dogs. If we want another dog we will have to apply for another permit. We are zoned Residential. what shire are you in? Murrindindi
