  1. I'm so sorry to read that gorgeous Micha went downhill so fast. I'm also sorry that you couldn't be their to help ease his and your mum's pain. Be sure though that this lovely boy is now having the time of his life and is reunited with sweet Cherry.
  2. There's a beautiful GSP who does agility at my club and her owners also train her in the Gundog competitions. She is absolutely gorgeous and a food motivated dog.
  3. I think you'll bd fine with a lab and any type of terrier really. It's part of the terrier mentality that they're tough as nails and love a good rough and tumble. Of course I'm not talking about the toy terriers -- Silkies and Yorkies can be pretty precious!! That's why I'm a terrier person and will never be with an Aussie Terrier!! Whatever breed, just make sure you're always able to separate the pup from the adult when not supervised. This will help prevent any potential accidents :)
  4. Oh of course. I couldn't imagine really wanting to pester anyone on show day -- mostly I'm there to look. I've never really been to a show before so was planning on watching the judging and walking around the set-up/stalls area. Sydney always is a major stress event just due to its sheer size. Most of the time is avoid going just because of the crowds
  5. Oh, yeah I mean the Sydney Royal. I've always just called it the Easter Show like most others  I really can't wait because I've been promising myself for years that I'll eventually go to see the Aussie Terriers on parade but have never made it. Not this year though!!
  6. I'm planning on heading to the Show a couple of days this year to talk to breeders as I'm planning my third puppy sometime in the future. Just wondering if any DOLers are planning on going and we could catch up. :) Edit: not sure if Salukis is the correct pluralisation
  7. She's such a sweetie Huski! I can't wait to watch her grow up :) You didn't want a little boy this time after Daisy and Wizzie?
  8. Could he have been bitten by something? Or perhaps an inflammation somewhere inside? I'm sorry I've got nothing else to suggest but I hope Wolf picks up soon!
  9. I've only ever stayed in one dog friendly property, twice and both times I let the owner know what my dogs are like. Neither are technically house trained but are very good at not toiletting inside -- Zeus has never eliminated inside whenever I've had him in with me and always asks to go out. Not sure how he learned this behaviour but it's helpful!! Kirah is not like this though and whilst I make sure to take her outside more frequently, I take wee mats that she knows to use but so far she's never needed to use them even though I put them down. They both also don't know about keeping off furniture so both times I've stayed at this place I've taken my own sheets and fluffy blankets to cover the lounges and bed. Kirah likes to sleep between my legs so I always cover with a fresh sheet and blanket for her to lie on. Zeus is not crate trained but more "fluffy blanket trained" and he'll sleep wherever I put a fluffy blanket. Having said all that, I do also travel with 2 crates so if either are being absolute s**ts they get put in them. :) Edit: they're also usually freshly bathed too so as not to stink up the place!
  10. Where abouts in NSW is lure coursing done? I've always thought Zeus has sight hound in him somewhere as he is very motivated by movement and utilises his eyesight much more than his other senses. It looks fun!
  11. By mentoring, would a breeder let a newbie join in things like the mating and whelping process? I'm just curious. Showing is something I've always been interested in but too scared to try. I've got my first mock/fun agility trial coming up and I'm terrified.
  12. What an awesome post Espinay!! Very informative and easy to follow/understand!!
  13. I usually buy my Advantix from this site as he sells it at an awesome price but the sites been down for over a week now with promises of being back soon. Does anyone here know anything? I'm just curious.
  14. Not all breeders use DOL either. Kirah's breeder isn't listed here and I was introduced to her through another breeder contact of mine. Perhaps contact the breed's Victorian club and see if they have some local recommendations. Also, buying a pup from interstate is not a bad thing either -- scary at first maybe, but it's something a lot of people do.
  15. Get some number stencils and paint with an outdoor weatherproof paint?
  16. Nope my dogs have never had ball prey drive. Zeus LOVES his Cuddles Mallard Ducks and Kirah loves any rope or squeaky toy -- she also loves soccer balls she can climb over and growl at! I don't know what it is about balls but even Poochie was unimpressed with them. I'd prefer playing fetch with balls as they fly a lot better than stupid plushie ducks :/ Hope you're reading this Zeusling
  17. I admire your strength after all you've been/going through Stressmagnet! You're an inspiration to us all and such a strong woman The difference with you is that you were able to come out of such a troubling start with your little DD and you learned along with her every day. I don't dismiss the difficulty of kids and pets but like everything in life, it's a learning curve and you just have to mostly learn to let go and just go with the flow. I actually love seeing mothers pushing their prams down the footpath with a dog attached -- there's something cute about taking the family for a walk! :)
  18. It makes me wonder how someone so crappy at family management even has a family. It sounds like she was struggling with her first child AND Velvel yet she went ahead and added two more children to the mix? I can understand putting a child's needs first but she's basically saying that poor Velvel is the worst thing in her life and I'm struggling to understand how someone can go from such a loving owner to *this*. You don't just wake up one day and go "oh, I've got a kitten now (example) therefore I'll ignore, bitch and moan about everything else I had first". I actually think this woman is feeling a little bitter towards her sprogs because her life isn't the gold and roses she thought it would be and that she's almost longing for those simple early days of Velvel and the doggy outings.
  19. She's such a cutie!!! Gorgeous photos :D
  20. Thanks so much for taking the time to write that informative post Huga!! What you've said does make sense but now I just have to go out into the world and put it to use so I can start playing around a bit more. I've actually written down what you've put to keep on hand as a reference guide! Annie, I think your photo is gorgeous!!
  21. Nup. I'll stick with my true blue Aussie Terriers thanks :D
  22. Thank you so much for this thread Yonjuro!! I love nothing more than seeing beautiful dogs just being so happy and carefree! Everyone here knows just how lovely Ronin is but make sure you pass on our admiration of Tigger to his owners; he's a real credit to them! I just love how some dogs bond so well like this -- it's so special to capture on video!
