Yuppo, I remember talking to you (no idea about the snow thing you mention tho  ) - Just got mixed up with your first post. As per my other thread, the brain just isn't switched on today.

Well bacon is pork, so yes, I'd say raw bacon from Europe would be a no-no to eat.

I read the link provided and found some more. Things I found: "The virus is rapidly inactivated when exposed to drying " - perhaps freezing is the same "In other animals [not pigs] the disease either causes no problems or is invariably fatal" - Not good! Article about disease in dogs Hmm, I'd talk to a large animal vet about what you can do to kill the virus off or not feed raw pork. Edit: Oh hang on. You are in Australia yes? If you are here, then you don't need to worry as we do not have the disease here. If you are in Europe (other than the UK) then your pigs could have it so don't feed pork.

There is a danger of getting hydatids if using pig meat not from a supermarket or butcher but I think that's it. Anyone else?

Take the Logan Rd exit off the motorway, follow for about 2 mins and then Left into Beeleigh Rd....then KitKat's directions. I will PM you will my mobile nbr in case you get lost.

Not sure where you are coming from, but... If you get yourself to Beenleigh Rd, heading towards the Gold Coast, then once you cross under the Gateway and the road crosses the railway lines take the left turn. The you sort of go right into a carpark for a park. Follow this along past the skatepark and you will then follow a one-lane sandy road through some trees and up to a gate which will have the lure coursing club's banner on it. You're there! Let me know where you're coming from and I can try and give further instructions.

Seems Molly won't be in season so she is entered. Means I'm gonna have to come and knobble your dog BC4ME. She's so flabby still with post-baby weight that she may not finish the whole course. Mel774 - I will be letting Kara have a puppy run too, so if we haven't met up before, come say hello to the chick with no hair (don't ask!) and a chocolate BC pup.

There's no set end time but it usually is on well into the afternoon.

I've never had a dog tested before they got the injection. They were all on heartworm prevention prior to getting the injection and it was simply given on the daywhen the next monthly tab was due.
-
Admittedly CAL, I've used the shot on 3 dogs (my vet at the time was using as soon as it came out). 1st dog - Used once - no immediate problems. Haven't known dog since. 2nd dog - Has been used for 3 years now (not my dog anymore though), no problems. 3rd dog - Used once, no problems. When year was up went back to monthly because of distrust of chemical. So I never actually experienced any problems, but I heard enough to make me not want to wait for them to happen.
-
I would avoid the yearly heartworm shot if I was you. Many a bad expeiernce out there with it and it just doesn't sit right that a large dose of chemicals like that is good for a dog. Mind you some poeple say the same about monthly rather than daily heartworm. Proheart SR-12 is the name of the injection given. Article about Proheart 6 being recalled Document about Heartworm from FDA Thread on OZPets about Injectable Heartworming

Slow work day huh?

Cripes woman! Come up with enough options did ya?! No, no coats for my BCs. Molly has a soccer shirt for showing off in, but that's all the clothes they have.
-
That sounds fun. There's none of that here in Qld. It's just over flat ground in a pattern set out differently each meet. The morning run goes one way and the afternoon in reverse. Any breed can do it and they all seem to love it.

Molly is due for a season about then too, but I will bring Kara along to watch anyways.

I'll take some pics of the stuff I get tonight to show the brand, but I get it from Pet City at Mt Gravatt. It's about $8 for 500g.

Horses for courses. Molly loves it, can't recall if it smells or not, so I guess that's a no.
-
I use it as a daily additive in the dinner.

There are some coat sunscreen products for dogs prone to sun bleaching, they work fairly well on short coats breeds but not nearly as well on the longer coats. They aren't waterproof as far as I know though, check out Plush Puppy's one, it's quite nice. A dietary help is kelp. I give a teaspoon a day to my BCs and it keeps it looking much darker without having to resort to permanent inside time and air conditioning for their chocolate coats.

What Would Cause You To Change Vets?
MolassesLass replied to KitKat's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
But the problem is, how do you know if the other advice you get is just as dodgy? If KitKat didn't know better she would've followed the calcium advice no questions asked. It worries me that things I can't know (no training) I have to have blind faith and when I know that they are wrong on some things I just can't trust them on anything. But I'm naturally suspicous, I don't trust my doctor, dentist or mechanic completly either. :p -
What Would Cause You To Change Vets?
MolassesLass replied to KitKat's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Was gonna stay out since you already know what I think of the vet in question, but, well, work is boring and this will occupy me for a few mins! It isn't like there has been one minor word said wrong and you are now storming off elsewhere. This last incident has been the last in a long line of dodgy acts or conversations that have unsettled you quite a lot. We know this isn't a specialist vet, he's pet only. He doens't really remember his clients and so you have to remind him everytime of previous visits. He has old fashioned ideas that go against modern day thinking and he is obviously corporately motivated (selling pet insurance) - oh and lastly, remember all the puppy and stud wanted ads they allow in there, that makes me fume! The only thing he seems to have going for him is proximity to you and he's not an overly expensive practice. Time to shop around for a new one me thinks - asked Bronx's breeder for a recommendation yet? -
What Do You And Your Dog/s Do?
MolassesLass replied to KitKat's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
The only thing I'm showing off is my lack of a social life and my complete ignorance as to what a weekend is.
