  1. Oh I love it when AusPost employee's lie to you. Being an Ebay seller means I get it quite often. They're worth the wait peoples!
  2. Why are you cooking the chicken? Dogs evolved from Wolves, who eat their carcasses raw. If trying to give a semi-natural diet to your dog then raw chicken (bone in) as well as lamb and other raw meaty bones (RMB) will do wonders.
  3. I had my 5 BCs on hand to annoy KitKat courier (lick and slobber into submission). And really it was ok, she was expected, heading past on her way to Lure Coursing and me running late for frisbee.
  4. ;) Yeah...but your clickers were delivered by kitkat courier services inc And how rude was the courier!? She turned up at about 7:30 in the morning, while I was still in me PJs...AND it was a Sunday! I'd sack that one if I was you. la la la - 1 hour 45 mins before I can head home.
  5. She probably doesn't need the grains she's getting from the Weetbix. You shouldn't cook the mince (nor veggies). Are you trying for a BARF diet or are you just adding some goodies to a commercial food diet?
  6. You need to find out exactly who is top dog between the acutal dogs in your pack. You then need to pat this dog first, feed it first etc. It may be hard to tell at the moment because your dogs are constantly fighting to change position (not actually fighting, but they might if the confusion continues). So perhaps a consult with a local behaviouralist (not BarkBusters though) is in order, this way you should get a professional opinion on who is top dog and then how to make sure everyone knows their place and is happy in it.
  7. While it may sound like the human 'fair' thing to do, what you are doing is in part causing you problems. Dogs are pack animals, each animal has a status in the pack and if they are not treated as per their status you will be causing problems between the pack members. Have a read of these two articles on Multiple Dog Households: Article 1 Article 2
  8. I'd say so. Because temperament is hereditary and so with the potential for being slighty timid pups (or pups that are very desperate to please) they were more likely to do the peeing thing. They couldn't have learnt it as mum is 2.5 years old and stopped it at 11 months like I said above.
  9. Interesting aside: Submission/Excitement urination seems to be quite hereditary. My Molly did it up until about 11 months of age (although it was only REALLY exciting things that would trigger it after about 6 months old) and from her litter most of the puppies did it too. I sent home some of those mentioned articles to all owners when the pups went and all pups have now got the problem under control and most have ceased. hape2cu - No, really, she doesn't. Dogs are excellent at reading body language and they can tell when you are mad, before you even begin to yell. She also may have learnt that you don't like pot plants knocked over, but she certainly doesn't associate the ACTION of her chewing them with the RESPONSE of you being mad. I tend to agree with the suggestions that it sounds like your dogs are bored and under stimulated (probably both mentally and physically). More exercise, regular training and play should help the situation. And you may be causing problems in your pack structure in your house, either by allowing your dogs on your level or by not treating the dogs at the level each is.
  10. First problem is that Jess is suffering from excitement/submission urination. Here are some links that talk about the problem and how to stop it: Balgowrie Vets Dumb Friends League Click and Treat Wonder Puppy Please note, that the more you reprimand the urination, the worse you are making it, please tell your husband this ASAP. Not sure about the second problem, hopefully someone more knowledgable will be along soon.
  11. Far too high IMO. The 'rule' is supposed to be that you breed from dogs under the breed average, and with hips that aren't uneven (measured by adding the two hip scores and dividing by two, if the difference is greater than that, than it not a good idea). i.e Hips 2:6, total 8, halved total 4, hips acceptable. Hips 1:7, total 8, halved total 4, hips not acceptable. And in breeds where the average is over 10 (as in GR) then dogs of 10 or under shoud be used. That all said, it would also have to depend on what else the dog had to offer and the exact circumstances, but basically, NO. Edit: GR breed average is over 10! Learn something new every day.
  12. Unless customs decides you're hiding drugs in these bizarre plastic things!
  13. Perry's Mum - Sounds like Perry has found her calling, she looks great out there with the sheep. Good on you guys! BLADES - ANKC herding trials can be considered to be expensive when compared to say obedience where you pay around $6. Here in Qld we pay about $20 for the lower levels and $40 for the higher, this extra money covers the hiring of the specialised fields needed for herding (rather than any old oval), the upkeep of the sheep (and extra feed from being exercised) as well as for the equipment needed to run an event (gates, pens, etc). It may get a little cheaper in a few years once things are more established, but it will always be more expensive than the other simpler sports. Well worth it IMO! I have two rescues atm that are the working look, being quite young they are still in a prime learning stage, so they may very well end up farm dogs.
  14. Now I may be bad posting doggy porn, but now we have doggy kiddie porn! Hey BL, Molly says once you've whelped you don't care who sees your bits. After Mum and her other midwives have all spent the day peering between your legs you lose all shame. Just like hooman mummy's.
  15. Since my puppy enjoys sleeping in the bathtub, I've been contemplating teaching her to pee in there........tempting, but not sure I have the patience and skill to define for her properly exactly what I expect. Would be a great party trick though.
  16. Yup, doggy porn in here! Only dogs aged 18 months and over allowed to view
  17. Here is a male dog, please note the penis (and it's location) - Assuming you were able to identify it, you will already know why we are all astounded that you do not know what gender your puppy is. Just to make sure, here is a pic where my female is showing off her vagina (technically it's the outer-labia but it's referred to as the vagina).
  18. Nah, I meant the second lot of postage - when you said ;) was making joke (very funny one apparently ) about you posting mine up the street to me.
  19. I'll grab 2 please KittyKat Don't you try and stiff me for postage though
  20. Within a month of the test is fine to begin I believe, but the sooner the better.
  21. Yes, correct dosage is very important and you of course increase the chances of a reaction if the dose given is too high. Always important to weigh your dog and make sure the dose is correct before giving anything. YES! The test is used to indicate that the dog is free from infestation at that time. It means that it is safe to begin medication to prevent it occuring. If the test was positive then your dog would have to be put through a lot of vet treatment to kill the current infestation before it could go on preventative medication. Dogs can and do die if started on preventative medication when already infested.
  22. From my research, the numbers say approximately 30% of collie breed dogs will have some kind of reaction to Ivermectin or it's relatives. I've always used HeartGard on my BCs (and the rescues) and am yet to see a reaction. I dose as per instructions on the packet. The best prices I have found for the main flea/worming treatments is Priceless Pets, you have to fax your order to them rather than actually ordering online, but they are super-cheap. JMHO
  23. So KitKat will you be getting up at the crack of dawn to save the spot down the front for me? Can I turn up much later with the canopy and just be able to sit down? Ok so on the day, you should be able to meet: Me - 2 Choc BCs (maybe the rescue mob too) KitKat - longhair GSD pup (maybe Rottie X) BC4ME - 1 BW BC Dali-Love - Skinny Dali, Dali pup and two more? Mel774 - Golden Retriever Staffylover81 - Staffy luv_is_a_staffy - Staffy McGuinessMagee (afternoon maybe) CockerPoppins - Black cocker Correct me if I have your dog descriptions wrong because sometimes it's way easier to spot peoples dogs rather than them.
