  1. Well I don't know any more details than posted but if there's agility that weekend too, maybe it's combined and you'll be able to do both! I don't think the schedule has quite been worked out yet but the first event should be mid-February - so not too much longer a wait. CK and Xena sound like they're ready. Yay Jonty! Hopefully some one on one training may make him comfortable enough to try again. That's because she becoming a big girl now, she's ready for big girl games. ;) So glad to hear from you all, I'd better get out and practice some more too!
  2. Ok disc enthusiasts, welcome to 2008. How's everyone going with training? And to pass on some exciting news: Oh I'm intrigued!
  3. Run free Navarre  Fifi and family.
  4. Oh well, I've got nothing then. Sorry!
  5. What brand of dry? You haven't fed any Greenies treats recently?
  6. Oh dear I didn't manage one thing on my list for 2007 but then it wouldn't happen when you don't even try. So 2008 is somewhat similar goals for the dogs but I have a goal for me this time. Me 1. Get motivated! Molly 1. Start tracking training 2. CD in obedience 3. Enjoy frisbee Duke 1. Aust CH title 2. maybe CCD 3. maybe FDA Logan 1. At least HT in herding 2. CCD obedience 3. FDA in frisbee Jazz 1. Start agility training 2. FDA in frisbee 3. At least HT in herding
  7. So sorry for your loss Varicool. RIP Ally.
  8. Big Dog Pet Foods at Lawnton manufactures it I believe. Lovely people too.
  9. I buy in bulk, currently using Paratak - currently on special, save $30 - Vet N Pet Direct
  10. My housemate was taking Jazz (who is Kara's little sister) for a walk on Friday and some young kids came over to say hello. One remarked "This is like the dog that catches the plug!" and then was SUPER excited upon learning it was a relative. How cool!
  11. Not true. She gets it clipped in Spring/Summer and sometimes a second time during the warmer months. It grows back all through the colder months. Her coat is gorgeous. I will ask the MIL if she thinks it is grwoing back any thicker. She has done this for three years running now. Well you initially said "every few months"! But still, 6 months of coat growth over winter is not a full coat growth cycle.
  12. Puggles, they wouldn't see the damage done since they keep shaving it off. Young, healthy double coated breeds should not be clipped IMO.
  13. Family member paid $200 for one of the private consults and it was completely wasted money (they got more assistance out of their first $3 class at a club).
  14. "the unspellable one" I was using "Eukanuba Adult Natural Lamb & Rice Formula" and I would have put it below RC and ProPlan. Don't take my word for it either though, do some research into the ingredients (and your own preferences for whats ok and isn't, your dogs weight, size, age and activity requirements). I'd suggest TheDogFoodProject as a starting point. And as already said, the best food on paper may not be the best food for your dog, so don't be afraid to try another food if the one you are currently using isn't working or just to see if another may work better (I fed SuperCoat with great success for many years until the formulation seemd to change).
  15. IMO Supreme is fine unless you have a dog with allergies or a sensitive stomach but Holistic only costs a little more so... As already said, the best indicator of how a food works for your dog IS your dog. So you can always try the Holistic for a month and see if there's an improvement (take down notes, take photos if you're not sure you'll just notice), if not go back to the Supreme. Sounds like you're doing all the right things with the mince as well, just make sure you're giving edible bones as well.
  16. And this advice goes just as well for yourself doesn't it alanglen (who is a vet). I don't care if people do their own research and buy another brand of food to that I feed (I'm neither a vet, pet supplies store owner or food company rep - just a breeder owner who's done their own research). I will give my opinion on foods based on that research when it's asked for. And my research showed that Nutrience, Eagle Pack and Nutro were the top brands by ingredients when I checked but I believe Nutro has changed hands since so needs re-evaluation. Royal Canin would be in the next bracket and Purina ProPlan is a good middle range (price) option. Hills and Advance are WAY down the list.
  17. Agree. I feed Nutrience in addition to the BARF diet I feed and have inspected the ingredients list and found it to be a very good dry food. As long as you handle the meat following proper food handling methods (as you would for yourself) then there's no issue. I would never feed cooked meat as the main staple of a dogs diet. Pet or human grade is not really an issue to me. If the pet grade comes with ground up bone then I'd go for that, otherwise get the human grade if you can afford it and supplement edible bones for the correct calcium/phosphorus ratio.
  18. What products are cheaper as I couldn't see any from a quick check, but you could save a few bucks with free postage if only getting one item. Advantix (4-10kg) 6 doses - $45.00 (pp $43.80) Heartgard Plus (Up to 11 Kg) 6 doses - $28.50 (pp - $23.30) Frontline Plus (up to 10kg) 6 doses - $49.90 (pp $44.30)
  19. Priceless Pets is the cheapest store for anything they stock IME. Postage is $5.80 no matter the size of the order. I've always gotten fantastic service. ETA: Price of 6 pack of Advantix. (4 - 10kgs) is $43.80
  20. A few weeks ago Kara and I did some filming for the latest round of Qld Waterwise TV ads. She's only in it for a second but I'm so chuffed! View the ad
  21. Are service dogs trained to ignore bitch in season scent? Standing in line for a nightclub and being pooch searched got housemate and I wondering if we'd be in trouble some time. Imagining that we'd be desperately trying to explain that the dog is excited by my bitch at home not by drugs and please don't cavity search us!
