  1. Cavandra, there isn't an opening as such, there are two swellings which (like a pimple) were pus filled when I squeezed them. It's not a wound but a skin irritation/infection/rash or something. What I assume is mud that has perhaps gone into the skin a bit is what I'm trying to wash off. I'm thinking perhaps something alcohol based. Lucknow, it's not bacteria in the water but the mud I was thinking may have caused the skin irritation/infection. Duke's a 3 year old male Bullmastiff, he has quite a large belly button. He doesn't swim, just wades and digs around in the mud and I've noticed before he has collected a clump of mud in his belly button (which also collects fluff daily - he's special ). Perhaps I've missed cleaning it or haven't cleaned it properly and it's somehow caused this. I'll get a picture tonight, it seems words (at least mine) won't suffice. :D
  2. Duke's belly button seems to have gotten a bit infected. There are some small raised bits, one of which released some pus on squeezing. It also has a black paste-like substance on it that I couldn't wash off with warm water or betadine. I'm thinking if the goop goes away (it is quite likely started by mud from the creek where they swim) the belly button will be fine and I can stop stressing about an internal infection. Any hints on something else I could use to clean that might remove such stuff?
  3. No probs MrsD I STILL have your picnic knife you left at I think an October meeting!

  5. Come up for a long weekend holiday anyway.
  6. I'd recommend Logan West Vet Surgery, great people.
  7. Sorry I haven't replied to your PM Stormie, I've been sick. I use Nature's Own Biotin (300mcg) and give half a tablet a day to my medium coat dogs.
  8. I've always used the same form for any ANKC entry, just filled out the appropriate sections. Must be different in Qld.
  9. It's probably this, you've been suggested to use. Even though you don't need to know all the show stuff for obedience, it can't hurt to put it on (Unknown for AR dogs parents I guess). You can buy paper ones using the Order Form.
  10. Commencing 1st March 2008, teams can earn legs towards a new title introduced by the Australian Canine Disc Association (ACDA). FrisbeeĀ® Dog Games (FDG) Award. Achievement of the FDG award demonstrates that the canine disc team demonstrates a versatile array of canine disc game skills, including accurate throwing and a quick retrieve. The FDG Award is achieved when a team achieves five qualifying scores in games, including at least 1 qualifying score in Accuracy, at least 1 qualifying score in Time Trial, and at least 1 qualifying score in a different game. Unlike the FDA, FDE and FDM, the FDG is a cumulative title, which means it can be earned multiple times. This means that after a team has earned their FDG they can then start accumulating legs towards an FDG2. Theoretically, a team can earn FDG20 or higher. In the Accuracy Game, there are three circle zones centred 10 metres, 15 metres and 25 metres away from the throwing line. Teams score 1 point each time the dog makes a catch with at least one paw on or inside the line of a marked circle zone with a 4 metre diameter, the centre of which is located 10 metres from the throwing line. Teams score 3 points each time the dog makes a catch with at least one paw on or inside the line of a marked circle zone with a 5 metre diameter, the centre of which is located 15 metres from the throwing line. Teams score 5 points each time the dog makes a catch with at least one paw on or inside the line of a marked circle zone with a 7 metre diameter, the centre of which is located 25 metres from the throwing line. The circle zones will not be in a straight line. The precise position of the circles will be revealed on the competition day. A team's first throw can only score in the 10 metre scoring zone (1 point). A team's second throw can only score in the 15 metre scoring zone (3 points). A team's third throw can only score in the 25 metre scoring zone (5 points). Subsequent throws can score in any of the three scoring zones. The time limit for this fun event is 60 seconds, in which teams can make as many throws and scoring catches as they like. The qualifying score in the Accuracy Game for earning a leg towards the FrisbeeĀ® Dog Games (FDG) Award is a minimum of 9 points. The objective of the Time Trial Game is to make 3 catch and retrieves beyond 10 metres within a 60 second time limit. The team that completes this objective in the fastest time wins. Time stops when the dog crosses the throwing line after making their third catch beyond 10 metres. The qualifying score in the Time Trial Game for earning a leg towards the FrisbeeĀ® Dog Games (FDG) Award is a maximum of 40 seconds. You will have an opportunity to participate in the Accuracy and Time Trial games during the Dogmania weekend. Everything you should need to know about the Dogmania Canine Disc Classic and the inaugural Australian Canine Disc National Championships is available online now from www.adaa.com.au/dogmania. Early entries close 31st March 2008. Other games formats will be devised and introduced at future events. I have already been given one or two good ideas and if you have a suggestion for a fun type of game that rewards canine disc performance you are welcome to contact me at [email protected].
  11. I'd recommend Canine Country at Woodridge, I feed my guys on their composite mixes. They deliver for $5 and they stock dry food, treats and all sorts of bones as well as the composite mixes (a BARF diet). "treats" not "teats" :D
  12. If you get in contact with Evergreen Tracking Club they should be able to point you in the direction of some training. Eventually all of them (tracking is very cool ), but immediately the two pups. I've been thinking more and more the style like the Fordogtrainers you've pictured would be the most comfortable for the dog, gotta save my pennies though (damn quality being "expensive" ). ETA: Oh now that's just a sign -- the FDT harness is on special right now!
  13. Run free Choppa. So sorry for your loss CC. :D
  14. Powderpuff - Are you happy with both different types you're currently using? Thanks for all the information on harness types. With a lead for tracking, could it be a problem if you buy a lead stated to be 10m but it's slightly under or something? Does your lead ever get measured?
  15. Can you explain what is the design that you like? Have you used these, which is your preference?
  16. I'm after a couple of harnesses for tracking and was wondering what others think is the best brand of harness (and why).
  17. Billinghurst does - I'll see if I can find the text. ETA: Damn I think it's in the Grow Your Pups book which I've leant out. But he mentions in the Give Your Dog a Bone book about wolf pups eating anything they can get their mouths on (dirt, sticks, bugs, faeces etc) and the implication of the text is that it's ok.
  18. I always considered the patties as the in-between option. Better than a kibble/can diet but not as good as it would be feeding BARF by the letter.
  19. I use Livamol about once a week for coat strength and colour and Biotin daily for thickness and length. I really noticed a difference since starting the Biotin.
  20. Limit Register dogs can compete in any ANKC sport except conformation showing and are not for breeding. All other sports are able to be competed in and titles gained. :p
  21. I was told there were classes the first two weeks of December and then the last two of January. That was too hard to work out, so I'm waiting for first week in Feb. ETA:
  22. Has anyone had a dog with one? Did it correct after the first or subsequent season? Anyone had a litter from a bitch who had/has one?
  23. Is it likely there will be any more beginners clinics in 2008 Tracey? Unfortunately with the date change I can't make it.
