  1. Have you tried bones other than beef brisket? Perhaps the bone is too hard to eat so he doesn't try - I know my BCs can't eat beef ribs.
  2. You don't need to join to get a title AFAIK but of course, joining and helping out would be much appreciated. You don't register the dog with them as such, when the first entry is made, the association keeps a record of the dog and it's scores towards it's Field Champion title from then on.
  3. Well excuse me for not checking every new member's profile picture. I promise to be less slow in future.
  4. Aha! I thought I recognised Flame. Where's security?! Who let FlamesDaddy back in (even if he is now KimmisDaddy).
  5. The act of marking something is claiming ownership - so dominance a bit but dominance (or at least giving it a try) is an adolescent thing - so both.
  6. I understand that for marathon runners, sometimes it does. Yes, I've seen that and the women who change tampons mid race - yuk! But to get the real effect the runners have to stop and squat - that's where the humour is!
  7. It's a shame it doesn't happen to humans, would make the olympics heaps funnier.
  8. There is a title available here in Qld - one for ANKC dogs and another for the mutts.
  9. I think there is only the one club in SE Qld and that runs at Kuraby on the southside of Brisbane. Qld Lure Coursing Assoc. Why?
  10. He's got you well trained. At 6 months of age most dogs are ready to cut back to one meal a day so this may play a part in why he's not super hungry and therefore willing to try something different. Other than heating a the bone a little in warm water to bring out the smell, just offer the food for 10 minutes then take away until next meal time. In a healthy pup I would not be concerned up to 4 days without food. At 8 weeks (I'm guessing) he survived just fine after 48 hours and he's bigger now. If after that time he's still not interested in food I would start feeding again but also go to the vet for a thyroid check.
  11. Generally you should quote your sources when reposting other people's work. This comes from "Dr Bruces Vet's All Natural" site.
  12. Yes and no. During your go in the ring it is very unlikely to have another dog approach yours - it would only happen if one got loose. The higher level dogs that are working off-leash should be trained well enough not to approach. However, during the groups stays, especially in the lower levels you can get dogs that get up and sniff or otherwise interact with the other dogs in the stay. If your dog is going to attack in this kind of situation then don't go.
  13. If the burr was there for a whole month, then how did you miss it in all that time?
  14. The people I train with all just use squares of dark coloured cotton fabric. No bigger than the size of a large worksock as in the rules though.
  15. Last time I was there Toowoomba obedience club was very strict and old-fashioned - I guess things haven't changed. I think there is a lady out at Crows Nest that does classes.
  16. Is the problem that the listed contact details are no longer current? Toowoomba Dog Obedience Club Inc Mrs K Murray PO Box 3606VF Toowoomba 4350 (07) 4635 5040 [email protected]
  17. You need a "I voted No" option in the second part and an "I voted Yes" in the third part.
  18. That's me too. I do occasionally go to a park when it's quiet or empty though.
  19. I'm not sure if it's what you want but I love the Ezy-dog range. If you got 2 x 100cm extensions plus the Cujo handle (comes in 64 or 100cm length) it might be enough length to let the boy pee.
  20. Yep, that works. ETA: OMG I'm crying (and a little scared!). Are break-away not allowed or just not used at the moment?
  21. It put me off for a few years but I'm hoping to start training in March with Jazz at a club with super reviews. Could a break-away tire also cause injuries with awkward landings? Maybe the tire needs to have a larger diameter inside also.
  22. I attended agility training for a few months and the tire was never tied down and would come down at least once every session. Most often due to the handler since the club insisted on people teaching on lead and it's very hard to pass the lead between hands as the dogs jumps through the tire without knocking it over. Didn't notice any injuries but a whole lot of scared dogs.
