  1. I have seen those recently, they look like plastic. I don't feed rawhide and nor would I feed these, none of my dogs has a problem with bones.
  2. My brother's dog has been on Stilbestrol for about 2 years now. We know the risks of it but it works. She's down to 1 tablet every two weeks, though they start on more than that and then you taper off to what works for you. My brother still has to monitor her access to outside because if she gets over-full from being inside too long without a break she will still leak.
  3. No, they don't chew their beds or bowls, they just destroy anything given to them to play with. Bolded bit: Sure that's an option but not the question I asked.
  4. persephone I have!!! I think I just made them a challenge. Hadn't thought of poly-pipe though.
  5. My two young dogs are destruction machines and this is very costly in toys. I do supervise but ripping the toy into pieces seems to be all the want to do with it, so I either take it away as soon as they start playing or I just give up and watch it get eaten. Is it fair to train a dog to play in the way you want them to (in this case to chew on but not destroy)? Is it fairer if you do allow some toys to be destroyed but some aren't?
  6. Exactly. And with a cross there isn't even average breed data to go on. Enjoy your dogs while they are here and always be prepared to make the hard but right decision.
  7. Maybe, maybe not. Feeding amount will depend on activity level too.
  8. I feed: 20kg desexed 6 year old BC - 250g Duck mix 23kg 2 year old BC - ~600g white mix 20kg desexed 2 year old BC - ~400g white mix They get 1/2 - 1 cup of dry in the morning too. I didn't work out any percentages or anything, just started with an amount that looked right and adjusted every 3 weeks until weight was being maintained.
  9. Since the dog doesn't speak English and thus don't know what "No" means, I praise for them stopping what they are doing as that's what I want them to learn "No" means.
  10. I feed at set times (within half an hour) and mine do get restless some nights (a simple "No" stops it though) but it's easier for me that way. I don't think there's any problem for the dogs to be fed more randomly.
  11. I've never seen a purchasable divider, it's always been something I've bodged up myself but Mr Dog Expert is a numbnut IMO or has been buying his dogs from petstores and puppy farms where the pups early life often extinguishes the natural cleaness.
  12. I do not believe the pup will hate the dog for being free, dog's just don't have those kind of thought processes. You could have a problem of the pup barking to play with the dog but I've found usually a single "free" dog will usually just hang at the fence of the penned dog all day. Give it a go and ask the neighbours to let you know if they hear any noise.
  13. I just wanted to clear something up as I've had a few people ask. These are not the photos from Dogmania's official photographer; they will be available from here soon. Some nice photos there fhphoto, it's very hard to photograph fast moving sports dogs - and I'm impressed with the strength of your equipment since it took all those photos of me and didn't shatter.
  14. I wouldn't use any head collar on any dog. But I have found the Sporn harness to be good at stopping pulling.
  15. I'll mind your stand while you're having a go if you want. Can't deny a pooch their frisbee time!
  16. Wish I could help but I only have the specific frisbee details. When I was looking for a website for the event, I did get results of meeting minutes for both ADAA and AFA mentioning the event though.
  17. Remember this dog sports event is this long weekend. I'm not sure about the other sports but Canine Frisbee can still be entered on the day and first-timers are more than welcome. Spectators are welcome; our dogs are show-ponys, the more you clap and cheer, the harder they go! The Freestyle demonstration on Sunday will be very cool. 18. Get ready for a LIVE dog sporting spectacular like nothing you have ever seen before! The smartest, fastest and "biggest hearted" dogs in Australia all competing to be the best in their discipline for cash. It’s a 2 hour multimedia, pawfressional dog sporting event that will kick off the world wide search for the best dogs in the Universe . The World Dog Games developed by the Professional Canine Federation will find the World best dogs, be it full bred or bitza in the sports they LOVE TO PLAY. The event is dished up in a weekend DOGFEST packed with experts from Australia and around the world, a breed showcase, dog sporting demonstrations, and competition exhibitions and shopping– and its all under the one woof. It is likely to be the biggest canine event ever held in Australia and will include not only live competitions/shows but international seminar presenters, demonstration areas and stalls/ merchandise. The WDG will have competitions for Agility, Frisbee, Flyball and Dock Dogs. To be held at Acer Arena at Sydney Olympic Park there will be 3 big days of competition with the event to be televised nationally. Acer Arena will be THE place to be between Friday 30th October – Sunday 1st November this year. The Australian Canine Disc Association (ACDA) is thrilled to announce that we will be coordinating the selection of Australia’s top 4 canine disc handlers and dogs to participate in the World Dog Games. We want to let you know now that everyone is invited to participate in either or both of two selection qualifiers to be held commencing in September. Only teams participating in freestyle will be able to qualify, so if you want to be part of this super-exciting event there is still plenty of time to put together a routine. The qualifier locations and dates, competition format and all details will be released in an Information Kit to be released in early May. I hope to see you in Sydney at the end of October as either a competitor or supporter!
  19. Cityvet (which was Logan West Vets) does it. They're at Hillcrest.
  20. And how about your brags while you're here Jinki.
  21. I have a section in my puppy book for purchasers about doing things daily with their baby puppies to have them ready for veterinarian examination. I agree that it's very important.
  22. Thanks, I'm still smiling ear-to-ear - I didn't expect either to pass, as the longest wait we'd trained for was 15 minutes. I can remember the basic track route, I do have the maps also - is that what you mean Gamby? I hear each state is quite different in how things are run - like I believe Victoria has ribbons along the track whereas Queensland doesn't have anything and the judge works from a mud map. I really like tracking because there's not much interference from the human - either your dog can scent or it can't - and I like exhibitions of pure dog ability.
  23. Early this morning (you know they have a 4 in the morning now?!) on the first day of the All Breeds Tracking Club trial at Tamborine, Jazz got a Very Good TD2 pass. Logan was going really well for his but unfortunately about half-way through the thick, chest high grass he was too tired to continue, maybe next time.
