In addition to contacting your breeder it would also be good to notify the transport people so they can warn the owners of any other dogs transported at the same time. I hope your pup pulls through.

Councillor's "animal Killers" Claims Puts Pet Desexing I

It's not even stopping cross-breeding, it's only making people pay to register as a breeder before they are allowed to produce pups. Nothing about being a DogsQld member or breeding purebreds or anything of the sort. -
I don't think anyone can really say what is going on without knowing your dogs and seeing things first hand. I personally do not interfere in dog-to-dog interaction unless I KNOW that something bad has gone on or is about to. In the case of play this would be a yelp of pain. I would then be focussed on things so that if they did not make up and modify their play I can step in. All the growling and snapping is ignored - they are dogs and this is their language. Another thing to watch is how the dogs interact when they are not play fighting. If the dogs are comfortable in each other's presence (one isn't avoiding or slinking away from the other) and both dogs initiate play then it's likely they are fine.

Councillor's "animal Killers" Claims Puts Pet Desexing I

Vets need to come to the party to help enforce these things. Make it so vets must report any bitches in whelp they see, any pups coming for vaccinations etc. to the council or the council bans them from their area. The council checks if they have the permit and goes and fines their arse if they don't. -

Except then everyone would believe every other area is a no-control area Erny! Add me to the chorus of "you are right and responsible, keep it up". -
I don't think the traditional expo (product stalls) really has any relavance left with online shopping meaning everyone can get everything they want, whenever they want.

In Qld, a puppy is registered straight into the new owners name (while other states make breeders register to themselves first and then transfer) so many breeder wait until all pups in a litter are sold before registering the whole litter. If this was the last pup then the papers might have only been submitted a few days after he was bought and it takes a number of weeks for DogsQld to process (they say it can take 6-8 weeks). Then the papers are all sent to the breeder who has to check they are correct and then post out to each owner. There is no "starting over" with vaccinations. Just give the next whenever and then the last (if your vet does 3).

I weaned onto raw and at 7 weeks I change their morning or midday feed to kibble. The idea being that I can encourage the new owners to continue feeding raw and eventually they drop the morning dry food feed. I feed Cobber at the moment and am happy with my puppy buyers feeding the lower priced stuff if it's fed as an adjunct to a raw diet. If going to only dry food then I encourage to go for a premium brand (I prefer Nutrience).
-
Using warm water makes the dry food smell more and could be more enticing. Having cooked chicken all the time, they might be used to food being very smelly.

Megan, normally I agree but this IS a valid company, who like many others has abused websites that list breeder emails for puppy purchasers.
-
I've reported them and notified them via an email they provide for buying their stuff (so I'm guessing they read it). And now I know I can report this stuff, I'll be using it often!
-
Well it does have a link - it's just obviously ignored. And unfortunately my breeder email is in a very old program that knows nothing of this "blocking" you speak of. Reporting them sounds like fun though.
-
What eventually worked? I've used the "click here and be instantly removed" link so many times.

Is anyone from this company on DOL? I can't seem to get my email address removed from their spam newsletter list and I've had success before by whinging on DOL about these things.

Alpha Bet, while we pay our dues to our state body, the state bodies are all part of the ANKC. So everyone who is a state member is technically a member of the ANKC. I don't see why the clarification needs to be made on this forum but there's nothing stopping you doing it.
-
There is no official definition of a "registered breeder" - as in, the government isn't going to charge someone with fraud or anything - it depends on the person saying it. On this forum though, 99.9% of people mean ANKC registered when they say registered breeder. The word "registered" is correct to use when speaking of council or business registration but IMO it is used by many to pretend they are ANKC registered (which is the registration that matters to most people).

Do others really have dogs that will go do something else when there are visitors in the home (they're not interested in the new humans)?

Approximately 5 year old BC (rescue, so no history) with degenerative arthritis in the wrists - described as "furry" bones on his xray.Has been on JointGuard for the last 3-4 years as he has a history of being stiff after strenuous exercise (though in the back-end). The vet has suggested injections (Carprofen?) and changing supplements to Sasha's Blend. Are these injections painful? What has worked/not worked for others?
-
I have one BC who they are good value for but the other 2 lay waste to even the toughest of these toys within minutes. For me, the high price doesn't translate to extra playing time so I won't buy them anymore. We've been through: Howie Horse - 7 Phineas Phrog - 8 Ultimate Bone - 8 Mega Ring - 10 ETA: I ordered from the dogtoys website and found the service slow.

I agree with PF in that there's no right answer. Some buyers will run a mile if you have dirt on your lightswitches so you're never going to please everyone. Molly was never protective of her pups once they were old enough I would be letting potential owners around so I would have her with the pups. I put her away after she's been met otherwise she just butts the pups out of the way to hog all the attention. Once the pups fall asleep, I'll put them away and then bring out mum on her own for a bit. I wouldn't NEED to see mum with her pups when buying but there would be situations where the circomstances around it would make the breeder seem dodgy.

Question About Joining Dogsqueensland

You don't pay for the dog. You pay the joining fee in addition to the single person membership cost but you only pay the joining fee once.
