I say use whatever method hurts them most and thus causes them to pay up. Drivers licence seems to fit the bill.

Limit Register And Travelling Overseas

You won't be able to get the dog back in to the country unless it stays for 6 months in Macau before returning (and then follows all the shot vaccinations and health check requirements already mentioned). -
What To Tell My Workmate, Possible Dog Pregnancy
MolassesLass replied to roses2905's topic in Breeders Community
My breeder vet charged $35 last I was there but a pet vet I went to many years ago quoted me $350 because it "required a specialist reader". The blood test was $55 and so a lot cheaper than the pet vets. Just trying to give all the information I have. -
What To Tell My Workmate, Possible Dog Pregnancy
MolassesLass replied to roses2905's topic in Breeders Community
There is no at home way of confirming pregnancy 100% except whelping. Maybe you could explain that their girl could die during whelping for so many reasons and that they would be best to at least be prepared. Their vet should have access to canince pregnancy test (blood) that can be a cheaper way of confirming instead of an ultrasound. If confirmed the vet should be able to help them out with some info they need to know. Be aware though, that some vets love crossbreeding and may just convince your friends to repeat this many times. If she's a mum herself, liken it to humans and ask would she think it safe to go a whole pregnancy without being checked by the doctor at least once. -
Ankc Mandatory Rules For Breeders
MolassesLass replied to Zhou Xuanyao's topic in General Dog Discussion
Every code or rule is mandatory. None say "I will not breed with a bitch before she is 12 months of age...unless I really want to" And there is no definite list of breaching what will cause immediate suspension and what will cause a slap on the wrist. It's up to the state body to decide the punishment in each case. -
Sorry that was a really bad choice of phrase, and it sounded harsh. I just felt ill because of what I know. I was speaking with the thoughts going through my mind of dogs that I know that didn't make it, because they were left at unstaffed vet clinics. And also of my own experiences in dealing with some of the hospitals, one in particular. The difference in care you can choose to pay for is truly eye-opening. You would expect if a human went to hospital for two days after an accident, the actual cost of this would be tens of thousands. There are vets willing to provide a service to animals that is almost as good. It can make an enormous difference to the outcome for the dog, and I just don't think people realise how vast the difference is between the level of care you can get at different facilities. So sorry if I offended anyone, but I wanted people to understand that vet costs can easily run into the thousands at some facilities. At the time you just have to decide what is right for the dog. Having health insurance will increase the options for some owners. I understand now - lucky, or there would have been an interesting bitch fight next time I saw you. hehehe

This topic is about the Bullmastiff breed, a Mastiff (the breed not catch all term) is different. However, all differences between dogs within a breed is down to breeding. Some breeders think the breed standard indicates the muzzle should be length A whereas other breeders think it should be shorter or longer (and of course, breeding and genetics is a lottery mostly, you won't know what will happen until it does).

How do you know that this pup didn't have complicated surgery by an orthopedic specialist? How do you know what level of care the pup needed? Why would you be a bad owner if you are unaware of the possible costs of intensive care hospitalisation and orthopedic surgery in certain Vet Hospitals on the north side of Brisbane? You tell me, you're the one who said that other owners being shocked at the bill made you ill. What exactly makes you sick when dog owners think the neighbours got scammed or the neighbours are trying to scam RL if it's not because you think that makes us bad owners?
-
I'm shocked by the figure compared to my bill...with a specialist...for a much larger dog...for a much more complicated surgery...with much longer care. What a bad owner I am! Someone call the RSPCA!
-
My dog had chest surgery by a specialist, ICU care and 6 days in hospital etc. etc and it was $4500. It sounds like this was an emergency vet and they charge like wounded bulls but that still sounds WAY WAY over the top for a broken leg and a few punctures. Hard to judge without meeting the owners but $1000 is way over a gesture of goodwill IMO. I'd be offering a small amount like $200 and insisting I paid it to the vet directly too.
-
Had a similar thing happen to me (walking my dogs onlead and small dog sneaks under it's fence in attack mode and got woomped by my 4) and I offered to pay half. Not that it matters legally but I said while I didn't think my dogs were at fault I felt awful for her dog. In the end she didn't accept the money but I think the gesture made her feel a lot less inclined to report it which is good for me (my Bullmastiff would quite likely be blamed and get a destruction order no matter the circumstances because of his size/breed). In this case maybe just offering to pay half the fencing improvement costs would be enough.

Councillor's "animal Killers" Claims Puts Pet Desexing I
MolassesLass replied to tybrax's topic in In The News
It would be and completely unnecessary - why would you buy a breeding permit and then not breed? Pertinent part of the article: -
Yay! Very pretty.

I'll help if I can - I'll PM you my email addy.

It needs to be under 15KB I'm not sure what MGs are. What size is the original file, can you post it? What you most likely need to do, once you have resized it, is to reduce the quality. In my editing programs when you save as a JPG you select the quality as a percentage and I find even 90% makes a huge difference to the file size.

Councillor's "animal Killers" Claims Puts Pet Desexing I
MolassesLass replied to tybrax's topic in In The News
At what age would WHO enforce desexing? The GCCC is NOT introducing mandatory desexing. The thoughts on madatory desexing thrown about in Qld were at time of sale. But this has NOT been introduced anywhere. -
Well at least they're honest - "Healthy sound pups sometimes available. " - what a shame they weren't in this case! ;)

No caning here, exactly what I would do and the reaction I would hope my dogs have.

Councillor's "animal Killers" Claims Puts Pet Desexing I
MolassesLass replied to tybrax's topic in In The News
Why is it crap that people must pay to be registered with their council before they breed dogs and sell the pups? It's kind of like business registration and might offer people a come back with BYBs. This councillor believes you are contributing to the unwanted dog problem, but so what (if you aren't)? Compulsory desexing was NOT introduced. People figure out that is happening and they'll stop taking their animals to vets. Not a good outcome for the dogs. Nope but better a few dogs die than hundreds of their pups do. Council can also call every ad in the local papers selling pups as buyers, get the address to come see them and then check their records. It will take man-power but it can be enforceable IMO. -
Yeast Infection And Dermotic
MolassesLass replied to shells's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
This has been a bad summer for ear infections here and I'm currently treating my second dog for a yeast infection. Demotic worked fine for the first dog and seems to be working this time too (lots of gunk coming out in first few days, much less now, less redness etc). My vet said to treat for 10-14 days though I guess you would expect to see improvements by 7.
