  1. I read it as he was offered MR or no papers and didn't want MR so GoE took the no papers option. And was saying that the breeder offering MR papers means they aren't dodgy.
  2. That's not how it reads to me? It would have been nice to have limited reg. papers at least. I didn't want full registry as I have no intentions to breed or show. I was offered full rego by the breeder should I have been interested in breeding or showing but no mention of limited reg. papers. At the end of the day, no damage has been done I suppose. I do have a beautiful dog, the sort of dog with a temperament that I have always dreamed of. My other dogs are also beautiful but there is something extra special about my beautiful girl.
  3. Given how widely the UKC is panned, I don't know how they couldn't be aware of the fact that kennel club people around the world think they're dodgy. No, AmStaffs* are not Pitbulls. * That being kennel club (ANKC, AKC, UK KC ...) registered American Staffordshire Terriers
  4. Not law but a rule of the ANKC via the state bodies (DogsQld, DogsNSW, etc). I don't know who your breeder is but being able to send you photocopies of the supposed parents papers doesn't prove a thing. As I said, the cost of registering on EITHER register is about $30, the difference in cost between main and limit is about quality and the extra things you can do with a MR (main register) dog. I was pointing out that $800 with papers and $450 without has nothing to do with the cost of registering.
  5. Is it just me or does this sounds dodgy as hell? I would never purchase a dog without pedigree papers unless I was adopting from a shelter or rescue group. It seems to happen quite a fair bit where puppies that are sold as pets do not always come with limited reg. papers. Is it all that important? Yes it is. If a breeder is willing to break the rules in one way, then they probably will in others. And no matter what you believe, without papers supplied you can't KNOW the breeder is registered or that the pup is pedigree. May as well pay $50 for a mutt at the pound. It costs about $30 to register a dog (on the main or limit register) and so charging stupid amounts extra for papers is a con. Most likely it's a dodgy breeder who will convince you not to get papers with the high amount because they can't actually supply them.
  6. Congrats on the arrival of your litter Kaffy! And stay strong mini Kayo!
  7. It looks like NSW only specifies a minimum age for bitches (CoE #4) The only way to be sure of a rule NOT existing will be to call DogsNSW.
  8. Read back through posts and Magnus would be 10 or 11 and is a gold? colour. Linky to photo.
  9. This are very easy to get around, you just highlight the text and choose COPY form the menu options. And it doesn't even work as is. The other way to get around a (working) right click stop is to view source from the menu and copy from there.
  10. Yes that's what I think, that's why I've posted it a few times now. You think differently - viva la difference. I'd guessed which parts were misread but they don't say what you are or kelpiesrules have inferred. "It's a method of encouraging people to attend nationals while also a way to discourage the gaining of undeserved points while the competition is away." It doesn't say that any points gained at non-national shows on the national show weekend are undeserved. The more correct word was "stop" not "discourage" but it still doesn't say what you are implying. The "bad" dogs shouldn't be awarded because they avoided the show with the "good" dogs that weekend (whether by choice or circumstance). The sentence says bad dogs shouldn't be awarded CCs because the better dogs are at the national, it doesn't say that any dog that doesn't go to the national is a bad dog. If you don't have bad dogs and don't get underserved points then what I said has absolutely nothing to do with you.
  11. I know how much Jed distrusts the RSPCA (and I understand why) and now they are caring for her dogs! If it's possible to get them out, I can foster.
  12. Oh how terrible! People breed dogs and then expect to have some say in what happens to them individually and the breed as a whole! They should of course not give a crap and sell anything to anyone with no conditions ever. I'd love to see that too on the proviso that it's opened up to responsible, ethical and knowledgable new people. These people (once proven) are welcome to have a MR dog and a lifetime of support from me but every Joe Bloe who's certain he's going to show or trial and be that person, nuh uh.
  13. It's a method of encouraging people to attend nationals while also a way to discourage the gaining of undeserved points while the competition is away. The "bad" dogs shouldn't be awarded because they avoided the show with the "good" dogs that weekend (whether by choice or circumstance). If you can't get points anywhere except the national then maybe more people will start going. Otherwise they won't and they'll have a lovely weekend of non-dog activities. I can't see the big deal for either exhibitors having a weekend off or for clubs losing some entries occasionally. You would feel "discriminated against" because you couldn't get points for your breed one weekend a year at most? Hey, my dogs are top winning dogs ! Just because I dont go to a national does that mean its because I have 'bad' dogs?? Not all the good dogs go to Nationals... It is not about easy points, I can easily get the points with the competition ! Is that really what you got from my post?! You've already said you don't have a national for your breed, so it's really a stretch to find anything I said applicable to you but no, just because an exhibitor doesn't attend the national for their breed does not mean their dogs are bad (clearly not what I said if you read it). However, there are exhbitors who travel long distances, avoid the popular judges/shows and who enter complete shockers to make more points for their best dog when they think it will just be them. So I'd rather see a nation-wide no CCs rule when a national is on, to encourage everyone to go and to stop the few who purposely don't go so as to try for easy points. Re the bolded bit, well I think they should and I think this as a rule would help that become the case.
  14. So they don't have to type it all up? :D Putting it as an image is probably the only sure fire way to prevent cutting and pasting but then you'd just get people copying the image.
  15. My understanding of them was that the dog will ingest little bits and pieces of the Nylahbone as it chews away on them and that apparently is supposed to be ok for them - that's what they say, I think. But if the dog bites bigger pieces off them, I've heard of problems occurring. Probably no different than a dog chewing and swallowing large' ish pieces of a ball, for instance. All fourth hand stories, so can't quote you from reliable sources. But if they are flavoured up, then to me it could encourage more than just chewing .... with some dogs. Not really a problem with ingesting Nylabone then, I'd say you're talking about an owner supervision problem. ;) ETA: While looking for pictures I found a guitar forum where it is recommended to cut down nylabones to best model 50s guitar nut thingys. :D
  16. You must get the correct size for your dog and strength to prevent any large pieces from being chewed off. If you get the right size then all they get are tiny little bits which travel straight through. It's not digestable material at all I would have thought. This one was too small, they shouldn't be able to break large pieces off. But you can see the feathered end, thats what all my dogs ones look like. And it's only the little feathering pieces that come off. Here is one ready to be thrown away. Both those two are the durable not felxible type, the flexible is made of a clear rubber (and is far softer) whereas durable is the hard chewable plastic.
  17. Ok, well when you're next talking to all these other people, ask them to come in and explain why one weekend a year is such a big deal to them. :D
  18. These ones Cosmolo? They're a Busy Buddy toy not Nylabone but same material. My dogs love ingesting their Nylabones too and I've never had an issue, that's why I asked. :D Ahhh, you've never had a chewer have you GR? Why would my sweet little darlings chew the corners off my MDF skirting boards and eat a hole out of my plaster board walls - they can't have tasted great either! For some dogs the chewing or the destruction is the reward not the taste.

  20. Nylabones are unsafe to ingest?!
  21. You can get the plastic ones from Amazon.com There are some for sale here too.
  22. I think it should be able to be used for the breeder to decide they don't want that pup bred from or shown, whatever the reason. Your situation (being promised something you weren't given) sucks but I don't see it as a problem with the LR.
  23. The show is national so I voted no CCs Australia-wide. It's only one weekend after all.
  24. Yeah, what I linked IS the Partnership Agreement - which I thought was the same concept as a lease or co-ownership for unrelated people.
