It's going around today -> Other thread

They don't, they hang on the tail. Gravity would make the thing move somewhat out of the way, since it hangs off the tail. While I would never waste money on one of these (nor do I think the dog would like it) one of the major things I noticed when I got my first short coated dog was how much time you spend looking at the brown kiss. :-S Really? My dog has a short coat and I sure as heck don't spend any time looking at his butt!! Well, how clever is your dog to have been trained never to face away from you! It's not like I choose to look at his butt but when a short coated dog that carries his tail high is facing away from you, that's what you see.

"Visit My Website"???Are you the proprietor of the company? The phrase "Visit My Website" is what DOL suggests when you insert a link - if you do not change the text that will come up. Not that I am saying this member isn't a Shoo Tag employee.

Getting A Second Opinion.
MolassesLass replied to pixie_meg's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Sometimes you need a second opinion when you're told it's nothing too, though I don't know anyone who does it. Lump appeared on side of dogs chest and after waiting a week to make sure it wasn't a bruise, went to the vets. A fine needle biopsy was taken and I was assured it was nothing but a harmless fatty lump (lipoma) and it didn't need to come off unless it began to obstruct her walking. 6 months later dog was having GA for unrelated xrays so asked for lump to come out at same time. It was discovered to be a mast cell tumour (grade 2 by then). My poor baby, with that thing growing on her and possibly having spread in those 6 months. She might have dropped dead from it one day and I would never have known it was that lump. -
Don't forget those horrile noisy flyball dogs. :D Oh it's been such a lovely year so far for my ears. ;)

Dock Diving needs to come to Qld. Though we're quite spoilt in that we have: - Dances with Dogs - Tracking - Lure Coursing - Disc Dogs - Obedience - Agility x 2 (AADA & ANKC) - Endurance Test - Weight Pull - Earth Dog - Retrieving - Herding

I can't believe it hasn't been mentioned yet! Myth: If a bitch is mated by a crossbreed she will always produce crossbreeds. Damn that magical crossbreed sperm, ruining purebred bitches all over the place.

What Would You Do If Your Dog Was Sick
MolassesLass replied to aussielover's topic in General Dog Discussion
I have a GE Care Credit account with the limit set at what I can afford to repay for this type of thing - if the treatment would be beyond this amount I wouldn't do it (significantly larger, not just 1c over). But without the card it would be credit card, personal loan or loan from family. -
Thankyou ;) ...is this one better? Oh definitely! He looks very proud in that one.

Congrats! Though it doesn't seem to have sunk in with him, he looks so sad!

This one is my favourite, very cool photos.

Breeder Lied About Giving Me My Puppy's Papers
MolassesLass replied to happie's topic in Breeders Community
You can also contact Troy who owns DOL, if they are still advertising here. ETA: Not saying he will get you your papers but he does investigate which might see the breeder make good or he will remove them if they are dodgy. -
I desex all pet home pups at around 7 weeks and I know a few other BC breeders who do. It's not suitable for all breeds nor all purposes though (i.e. performance dogs).
-
And like any other seller, they can be sued if they do not deliver what has been contractually agreed upon. Like others, my litters haven't been registered at 8 weeks but the contract clearly states that papers will be provided. No need for a buyer to feel worried with a contract and I've not had anyone even mention it. In fact, I've had a few who complain about how much paperwork there is - worse than buying a house apparently. In addition, Qld allows breeders to register directly into the new owners name (rather than registering to breeder and then transferring to new owner, incurring two fees). And so often the litter won't be registered until the final puppy is sold and this can hold up the papers.

Mine's a bit different to that one but I did it myself. Turned the water mains off, unscrewed the spout that was there (using cloth over pliers on the end bit to be able to turn it). Then screwed the show head on and turned mains back on. Simple as. Oh! I found a picture of my exact model. The base triangley bit has a thread inside it that matches up with where the spout came off.
-
I've made an indoor hydrobath for the BCs (the Bullmastiff doesn't fit, so he gets a cold hose in the yard ). Bought enough stick on mats to cover the base (to prevent scratches and stop pooch slipping) and changed the bath tap to one of these hand showers -> A bit more permanent solution and I can change the way the water comes out.

The thread title had me thinking this was a totally different topic! Dog registrations for just about every breed are way down too. It's very sad I think.

Breeders' Conditions When Selling A Puppy
MolassesLass replied to Zug Zug's topic in General Dog Discussion
My advice to puppy buyers is this: If the puppy is of good quality and sold on limited register, go elsewhere as the conditions IMO are "over the top" as essentially, you are purchasing in reality nothing more than what used to be formally recognised as an unpapered dog Don't be fooled by the reasons why "your" puppy on limited register is best for you, it isn't best for you at all. Your integrity is being challenged what you may do with the dog and the breeder doesn't trust your intentions for one. Secondly, the choice to show or breed is your choice to make.........it's your dog, your life. You have done the right thing avoiding pet shops and BYB's to purchase a health tested pure breed dog. If you get the run around with restrictions and closed shop tactics to result in an unpapered dog, why not have a look at some rescue dogs instead which have the same restrictions as the limited register pure breed and are also in great need for a home Not true. In Qld, a person can only associate register 1 or 2 non-papered dogs (rescue, BYB etc) at one time and that's it. Once you've done that you must own a MR or LR dog to compete in ANKC trials. Plus you lack health testing, breeder support (though I know many rescues will support owners) and a known entity (the adult size, coat type, energy levels etc). -
AWL also has a clinic in Ipswich now - 42 Tiger Street, West Ipswich. Cost me $250 for a 75kg male castration a few months ago with CityVet.

Is An American Staffordshire Terrier A Pitbull?
MolassesLass replied to jackie_a1's topic in General Dog Discussion
Some lines have bob tails but most were docked before the rule changed and now have full tails. An Aussie should have more bone than a BC by the standard but that isn't always the case (even in the well bred). -

MolassesLass replied to jackie_a1's topic in General Dog Discussion
I dont know those breeds so I have no idea - what characteristics does a BC have that an Aus Shep doesn't? Can they not be determined one from the other based on their characteristics and traits? I never knew that? How do they go in the working group line up? Do they ever look like there is two of the same breed in the group? I suppose we could do comparisons for all breeds and use bad examples of each and then who knows what the real breed actually is, would be kind of like a lucky dip .... The ANKC standards are quite different but there can easily be mistakes even with well bred examples. Yes, esp. in the showring does it often look like the same breed. And yeah there are quite a few breeds where you can mistake a dog as another similar breed. I guess that's why I asked because I don't think looking similar means things are the same. -

Can you look at a Border Collie and an Australian Shepherd and tell which is which every time? -
Oh yeah, I've lost count of the number of people who tell me I've been ripped off because their brother/uncle/friend owns a "real" bullmastiff.

Why Are Some Pups Sold Without Papers Altogether
MolassesLass replied to GardenofEden's topic in General Dog Discussion
Ah I get what you mean, very dangerous practice. DogsQld will award the papers to the owner no matter what arrangment or monies were initially paid.
