Congrats to all for doing so well this year already. I do read this thread often, but only seem to post when it's my own brag, sorry :D Anyway, I was so proud of my little 10 month GSP boy :D He had his first CCD trial at the Canberra Royal today which had more distractions than you can imagine as were on the main arena. He worked beautifully to win the ring with 97/100. In the run off for Winner of Winners he was pipped by only one point by a very experienced, and lovely working Goldie. Leopuppy, love the clips of Leo in agility, he looks to be working very nicely for you ;)

No, he's BDE = Bestest Dog Ever

The AAD and SAAD titles are Agility Dog Association of Australia (ADAA) titles. http://www.adaa.com.au/ AAD = Australian Agility Dog SAAD = Senior Australian Agility Dog The others are NADAC/ADAC/Agility Australia titles. EJC = Elite Jumpers Certificate EGC = Elite Gamblers Certificate OAC = Open Agility Certificate. Flynn also got a tunnelers title and another games title I think. I rarely compete in ADAA anymore and never in ADAC. Between ANKC agility and Retrieving trials, I don't really have time!! Only title that Herbie is working on is CPM - Couch Potato Master  He does have his show title, but training him is not fun for either of us
-
Running more than one dog will do it too Keeping track of who's got what is hard enough  I had to post back a title ribbon last year when I thought Rogan had his SDX and when I got home he only had three passes
-
I don't even keep track of the multiples  I'd love to be able to go in and apply for a 10 multiplier without applying the previous 9, I think that's an achievement and I'm sure we're a ways off yet!!

I think the agility titles have got out of hand, makes doing catalogues and results interesting My boys: Flynn has CDX ADM JDM ADO JDO GDX SDX SPD ET + non ankc titles - SAAD EJC EGC OAC Rogan has CDX NRD ADM JDM ADO JDO GDX SDX SPDX + non ankc AAD Both boys are aligible for the multipliers on their Open and Masters titles, but like Ptolomy, I don't want to spend a fortune! Flynn is also 1/7 GDM, 1/7 SDM, 4/5 SPDX and Rogan is 2/7 SPDM & 1/3 RRD. Oh, Herbie has his ET

Where To Buy "tab" Leads In Perth?
FHRP replied to Whipitgood's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
My dogs have made me plenty of tab leads -
Excellent choice Love my 350, would probably go for the 400 now though (wasn't out when I got mine).

No, they have autofocus too You can also set the view finder to your own eyesight anyway, so you can see clear. I was wondering for a while why I was seeing things blury through the camera but the photos were good! I had inadvertantly changed the focus on the view finder.

I stopped obedience with my Whippet. I could never teach him to stand (yet he's a show champion that never sat in the show ring) and he frustrates the hell out of me in training. I brought him back when the CCD title came in toying with entering that once we got the stand, but neither of us were enjoying the training. We live much more peacefully if we don't train I have trained my older Vizsla for UD and trialed him a little in it. I am thinking of stopping completely with him though as he just isn't a consistent dog and more often than not does not seem to enjoy himself anymore. He got his CD title in 4 trials but took aver two years to get his CDX with something different nearly every time. However, he seemed to have a good time in the ring, not anymore. When he's on he is fantastic, but that is becoming less and less often and I can't work out why he is on at times and not at others. I enjoy training with him, but not trialing.

Flynn: food food food food.. he has a one track mind Rogan: Food and toys Polo: A retrieve, food, toys (which is basically anything I can toss), pats.

This thread might help ;) Where to do agility

Entire adult unknown male, I wouldn't do it (I have four entire males). Females, desexed males, known entire males, puppy entire males assuming all are "a well mannered dog" no problems. My dogs will either ignore or want to play.

Looks great leopuppy! I'd love some heeling like that from my dogs Although some judges might ping you for crowding. You lost her on one left about turn, I'd try and take a smaller step out of the turn instead of the full large step. Only other thing I could say is that I'd be careful of correcting the stand and then rewarding. Several times you 'pulled' her up from the sit into a stand and I can see this becoming a habit if you're then rewarding the stand (she may learn to sit then stand). I'd be more tmepted to walk her again into the stand and reward for a correct position, or do what you're doing then walk forward and retry the stand and then only reward if she gets the stand right away. Great work! Can you come train my pup now!!

Not my understanding of the rules: "COMMUNITY COMPANION DOG CLASS: For dogs, six months of age or over, and of either sex which are not eligible for the title of Community Companion Dog (C.C.D.)." So once you have gained enough passes to be eligible for the title you can no longer trial in CCD. However if entries have closed for a trial before you get the third pass you can still trial in that class, so Anthony you can still trial in the afternoon trial.

I'm so sorry to hear of Angus passing Paula.

A brief run down how our classes are run. We have Levels 1, 2, 3, 4, Novice, Excellent and Masters, run as seperate classes (sometimes two levels may combine due to dog numbers or instructor numbers). In Levels 1 & 2 it's basically equipment training. We have a baby dog walk and baby see saw and the ability to break apart and completely lower the A-frame. Levels 3 & 4 introduce sequencing and courses. Novice, Excellent and Masters are run at the trialing level and Novice and Excellent have a good mixture of sets and courses. Masters is mostly courses, with some sets. You can break a course up when it's your turn though and train what you like. As the classes progress more and more peer instruction and feedback is encouraged. Our instructors are volunteers that go through a club set course, and many attend outside seminars, however we aren't professionals and instruction at high level comes from expereince etc. and at Masters level the instructor is basically there to open the shed and provide courses. Feedback comes from other class members. Other people are happy to provide feedback on particular issues and questions. You do learn though who will actually listen......

Retrieving, Field And Tracking Clubs
FHRP replied to oceanaussi's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I posted this in another thread. I don't know QLD, so not sure of proximity. -
Do you ever feed him while you are eating? Just after you're finished? If so, he's drooling in anticipation. If you never feed him when you're eating, he may stop anticipating.... but, he is a Labrador, they always anticipate food don't they? The drooling at his meal times, good luck in stopping that at all!

Great post Vickie, sounds like a lovely outing I have to admit that I do most of my boys training around this time of year when classes are out and an informal group of us go down to the club and give the dogs some fun of an evening. You can fiddle on the little things more as there isn't the class pressure to move on. We even train obedience!

Favourite Sport For Gsps/pointers/vizslas
FHRP replied to BrunoBella's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
IMO seeing the pointing breeds do what they are bred for is where you will see them in their element. I have not competed in Field Trials but have started training with my new pup and it is just amazing to see the instinct and sheer love of the 'game'. I compete in Retrieving with my younger Vizsla and aim to with the GSP and this is a close second to Field work. Both these sports take considerale time and dedication and not normally done at your local dog training club. Both Vizslas, and hopefully the GSP, compete regularly (and some what succesfully) in agility and have a great time. For local training club offered sports, this would be top of the list. I'm afraid Obedience doesn't even come close Oh, my younger Vizsla goes absoutely nuts for lure coursing.... the older boy couldn't care less. -
I didn't even notice that, and it certainly didn't stop me including retrieving
