Greydove Kennels expressed intrerest in bringing the Slovakian Rough haired Pointer in I believe, but whether they actually reached Oz I don't know. Here's a link to their post about them on DOL http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?s=&a...st&p=118155

It came down to availability in the end for me. And now I do have both breeds :D I was deciding between Vizsla and GSP when I got Flynn the Vizsla who is nearly 12 now. A friend of the family recommended a breeder of both breeds and when I contacted them they actually had a litter of both! I really thought I would find it harder to get a Vizsla than a GSP as they were far less common, but as luck would have it, they had males available from their Vizsla litter and not from the GSP litter, and I wanted a male. The breeders also thought their Vizsla litter would be more suited for the show ring, which I was interested in (but never ended up showing Flynn). Both breeds were entirely suitable for me, there was just a bit of luck involved in what came first :D

I did a quick add up of titles on these dogs, and they currently hold at least 100 Agility, 20 Obedience, 6 Champion and 5 Retrieving titles among them!! Not to mention that many of their current titles have superseded lower ones... eta. Poodlefan, Sneaker celebrated her 15th birthday last month, so the oldest is 15

Canine Hydrotherapy In Canberra
FHRP replied to muffinmclay's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Queanbeyan Country Kennels out on Wickerslack Lane have/had a pool for dogs. It's been years since I've been out there, so you might give them a call to find out the situation, or other DOLers might know more current info. I swim my dogs at LBG or down at Uriarra Crossing. -
I have joined the 52 weeks of dog and am photographing Flynn. I've also joined the DOL 52 weeks Can I do a photo a week per dog, or do I have to limit it to just one dog also?

I bought a cheapy 'plasticy' umbrella bag, mainly for keeping it more confined in the car. Can't remember where from and only bought it 'cause it was cheap In all honesty, I see very few umbrella's used at agility trials around here, people now seem to all have gazebo's.

In the ACT we have to advertise every trial in our Journal, even if the schedule is late and ends up coming out after the trial entries have closed However all schedules are also placed on the ACTCA website, and this is where I go for schedules, not the journal. Although I don't like that we are charged to advertise in a journal, I do think it should be mandatory that they are published somewhere central that all Canine Associatino members can easily access, such as is done with the ACTCA website.

I have two snorklers here. Both my older Vizsla and my GSP will drink with their head in the water up or over their eyes. Interestingly they both like to drink from the running tap, and my other two who drink from a bowl/bucket 'normally' don't. My younger Vizsla is the most delicate drinker and would prefer not to have to touch the water to drink A paw in the water is optional

Thanks Snap!

OK, I succumbed and bought the 1.8. Would have liked the 1.4 but as I shouldn't have even bought the 1.8 after my Christmas sales splurge on a fridge, I thought I'd better not First go Rogan is less than thrilled at yet more reason to shove a camera in his face!

Although uncommon in the breed in Australia, HD is definitely in Spinone unfortunately. A DOLer's Spinone has HD

World Dog Games On Ch 7 Right Now
FHRP replied to shoemonster's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
The dock diving is pretty much dominated by Labradors and other gundogs in the USA, so plenty of non-bc breeds represented at the WDG's in that event (GSPs, Malinois, Labrador, Kelpie, Staffy x, Flat Coat, Toller etc.). From memory there was only one bc dock diving, Brock. But yes, the other sports had a lot of bc's, apart from the the small dog agility (poodles, sheltie and puli). -

Great to watch, but not long enough!!! I loved seeing my Polo on the screen in the Dock Dogs, but a bit disappointed they showed his second shortest jump and not his 19 footer. And his norty break of his sit Great job everyone -
So hard to choose my top 3, even though I didn't take a lot of photos this year! So, I chose my favourite of each of my boys, wich makes four Flynn Herbie Rogan Polo on his 2nd birthday

Good timing, had our last trial this past weekend, apart from a couple of ribbon agility trials! I love reading the updates!! Obedience - Polo gained his CDX in September After a couple of false starts he knocked off his title within a month ;) Retrieving - Polo had and awesome year in retrieving! Not quite his RRD, but has two wins and multiple placings. He has done some fantastic work and most of it is natural ability as I've been slack in training Agility - Ummmmmmm... next to no training and no trialing At this stage I'm aiming for Novice at the Nationals. Obedience - Um, nope :D Did some UD training but neither of us were enjoying it, so thats ont he back burner. Retrieving - Yes!!! Knocked off that 3rd win at te start of the season and he's been retried ever since Agiltiy - Rogan now has all his 'M's having gained SPDM at the start of the year and finally his GDM in October

We have been having a blast!!! Long days, yesterday we were there from 6:30am until 8pm. Thankfully today was shorter, and the live show was just fantastic, a real thrill to be a part of. Polo is jumpng well, although he's getting tired and jumping a bit shorter than usual, Friday really took it out of him with having to jump a lot for different media folk (but I love seeing him launching on TV ) The audience today was just fantastic, cheering loudly for each dog. I think the sport is a real crowd pleaser.

Not likely to cause a domestic because Kieth is unlikely to read this, but your opinion is noted - I think Doc gathers more speed if you run with him. But I gather Doc had a lot of fun because Keith used his aqua soccer ball. By the way, your discription of the dog sounds like Joey. Le - now all I have to do is figure out how to put in a fancy signature . . . when I find the time. Doc, was doing some great air walking, his legs were going while mid air I agree, he got more distance with you Le, but great height still! And of course he had a blast again ;) His Aqua ball was looking very sad at the end though....

Well, I still think it looks good Thanks Ruthless!

Awwww, you mean I have to wait??? Chopper is as handsome in the flesh as in his photos It was nice to meet you, if somewhat briefly

Aggression is not common nor acceptable in the breed. Unfortunately there are individuals in the breed with undesireable temperaments, as in any breed.
