What they said However I usually have a main focus with my pups. With my younger Vizsla it was agility, so although his foundations were about learning and focus it was with more of an agility slant. Contacts behaviour etc. was introduced from the start. He started competing in Agility, Obedience & Retrieving at around the same time though. My GSP had a much more Retrieve focus which set us up very well for obedience and he started competing in both around the same time too. However, I held off on agility training as I didn't even know if I would do it with him and he is a larger dog with little self preservation We are now struggling with agility, he just doesn't seem to 'get it', however I don't think it has to do with the lack of early agility training in favour of other disciplines, my older Vizsla who is my firs agility dog coped just fine. Polo is just special

How long have we been training it?? Oh, about 2 years :D He was introduced to weave poles about two years ago but it wasn't until this Summer break that I really make any serious effort to train him, and even that was usually once a day at dinner time. He is far from reliable still. I am training him with guides on the weave poles initally, like the image below, but I use the plastic garden trellis stuff from Bunnings. All guides have been off for a while, but I've put the first one back on when I put the jump before and wanted to ensure correct entries. I have trained both my Vizslas with this method also and have one good weaver and one not so great I will try harder to do the 2x2 method with my next agility dog though. Polo does get super excited about his dinner, but he gets super excited about anyting He quickly learned though he had to work to get his dinner, a pretty good motivator!! You were spared the sqealing/screaming on the video as the sound didn't come across Interestingly I could not initially train him with a toy as he was just too revved up for the toss at the end.

I finally have a weaving video too I tried the 2 x 2 method initially but was getting too frustrated, Polo just wasn't getting it. So, I went back to the trusty guides method and although we're far from where I want to be, especially in terms of entries and independance, we have some semblance of weaving! Polo weaving for his dinner I still don't think Polo 'gets' this game of agility, he is just so different to train than any of my other dogs, but, he's as enthusiastic as ever.

The receptionists at my local vets are fantastic. I know at least one of them isn't a vet nurse, not sure about the other. They are always polite and very helpful, especially when dealing with the forms for pet insurance. They nearly know me by voice If I ring up for an appoinment hoping to get in that day, they will tell me if there isn't any available but will check to make sure it's not an emergency. On the rare occasion it has been urgent they have found me an appointment. I can't understand people who work in customer service who are rude and unhelpful. More so, how they keep their job!!

Oldest Setter breed I'm not sure?? Enlgish or Irish Red & White ('cause IRW are older than Irish so can't be the youngest ) Two strains? The show strain and the Llewellin setters strain?? I suspect as with the other Pointing breeds the Setter were used with nets? The dog would "set" indicating the game and a net was thrown over the dog and birds??
-
You go Sparky Tansy! Keep it in the gundog theme though or Keira&Phoenix!
-
Tollers were the last to get offical recognition but not the youngest, Chessies are actually the third oldest Well there you go! Must be Labs then?? Flatcoats are older than Goldies...
-
Chessies would have to be the youngest. Possibly Tollers, but my money is on Chessies.
