  1. Yes thanks. Coco (13 yr old Brittany) has spondylosis and has been on a short course of carprieve, which worked quite well, but his blood screen came back with a slightly elevated kidney value. The vet said it may be nothing, but if he has to go back on NSAIDs then I'd prefer to start with the safest option. I haven't heard of Trocoxil though, so might read up on that. Thanks.
  2. Does anyone have any experience with Onsior? I understand it's a safer alternative to other NSAIDs. I did a search on here but couldn't find much info.
  3. Can anyone recommend a good Bowen therapist, preferably Mornington Peninsula or SE Melbourne? Thanks.
  4. Two on the bed and the other two in their own beds in the bedroom.
  5. Hi shantiah, details are on a previous page, $39.99 plus postage from online pet warehouse. It really does depend on who you purchase it off and what the exchange rate is at the time. I can still purchase it overseas with freight included far cheaper than here and all from the computer and it is delivered to me. Yep I paid only $37 inc postage for 2 x 60g bottles of the Proden.
  6. Does anyone know which size the Troy PlaqueOff is seling for $39.99 please. I can't find the size listed anywhere. If it's a the 60gm size it's a bit exy. I bought the 180gm for around $50 from the UK. It's only 40g.
  7. Hi shantiah, details are on a previous page, $39.99 plus postage from online pet warehouse.
  8. I bought the Troy product before buying the Proden, and Troy is much more expensive. I got a couple of bottles of the 60g Proden rather than the big bottle because I wasn't sure how long it would last when opened. But the Proden 60g bottle is the same as that used by Troy, except labelling, and the Troy bottle only contains 40g. Same ingredient in both.
  9. Thanks. When I mentioned a couple of my dogs were on Sentinel she said they would need separate tapeworm treatment and sent me home with some virbac. But rechecking the package at home tapeworm is covered. Maybe she was confusing Sentinel Spectrum with the old Sentinel then .
  10. I was told by a vet today that Sentinel doesn't treat tapeworm, but according to the packaging it does. Does anyone know?
  11. Mine was shipped on 28/11 and it arrived today.
  12. I queried this with Troy recently and was told it's the same formulation as the Proden. It's the granulated seaweed product. The one from online pet warehouse is 40g and directions are provided on the label - small scoop, not much is needed. Still expensive compared to Proden.
  13. I've seen it online for $39.99, plus postage.
  14. Only one of my dogs has had front dew claw injuries. I did consider removal but have found that keeping them as short as possible has been effective in avoiding further injuries.
  15. I am always searching for the pyramid! I have the large Bob-A-Lot too and it doesn't seem to disappear under furniture like the pyramid does. Plus it is brighter colours so easier to spot.
  16. My older girl had dry, crumbly poos and I was told by the vet to cut down on bones. Vet said perhaps she is not digesting bones as well as she gets older. Seems to have helped.
  17. Thanks for your replies. Will try that.
  18. Since I've had Kayla (bc/lab mix) she has always been frightened of noises - thunder, fireworks, loud bangs and so on. She's about 10-11yrs old now and has become frightened of noises that previously didn't bother her. Perhaps her hearing is not as good and she can't distinguish between the 'scary' and non-scary noises as well as she used to. For example when I walk her she is now frightened of hammering/building noises/any sort of loud noise. When she gets a fright she bolts - as she is always on lead, she tries to drag me back to the car. When this happens we go back to the car and either go home or go somewhere else to walk. I did try the Sounds Scary cd early on for her fear of thunder but found it didn't help much because with storms she reacts to changes in the atmosphere and not just the noise. Not sure if the cd would work with the range of noises that she reacts to now. She stays on lead for safety and I'm not bothered that our walks frequently get cut short etc, more just wondering if there is something else I could do to make things more pleasant for her?
  19. Is the tranquil formula given daily? Or is it just used during stressful times to take the edge off.
  20. I had some Naturally Wild salmon given to me a couple of months ago. The first bag was fine and dogs enjoyed it (though they will eat anything) but the second bag resulted in my dogs having a bout of diarrhoea. I ended up throwing it out but I see the best before date of this food is now listed as being recalled. May or may not be related to this though.
  21. On the couch with two dogs on top to keep me warm. The other dogs usually end up on the other couch.
  22. Has anyone used coenzyme Q10 for dogs with a heart murmur, and if so did you find it helped? Coco (11yr old Brittany) has a grade 3/4 heart murmur but is not showing symptoms.
  23. Yes I have that problem especially with Annie and her bird obsession - she'll spot a bird long before I do. So I just watch her body language and that tells me when she has seen one!
  24. Me too - until I started to play "who's that?" from Click to Calm. Basically, as soon as the dog looks at something that MAY trigger them, while they are still relaxed (ie you have nanoseconds) say "who's that" in a happy voice and shove a treat into their mouth. After a few goes, your dog will look at you when they see a trigger, and both you and the dog remain calm. I love the 'Look at that' game from Control Unleashed which is a similar concept. Works well with my reactive dogs. That is saying something! It's great with my fearful reactive dogs (who are predictable), and I also use it with my low threshold prey-driven dog when she spots birds etc. I believe this would work better on my more unpredictable boy, who is relaxed the majority of the time but tends to react when the object is close... my other reactor though, as in as soon as something is seen at a distance, she is on high alert, so her initial reaction is being alert and therefore no longer calm. how would this game be moulded to work it around her behaviour? Two of my dogs are always on high alert. I mark when looking and not physically reacting (lunging/barking/growling). I didn't teach them to look at boring things first as others have done, and I use yes rather than a clicker.
