  1. Cosmolo are you thinking aggression in particular or other behavioural issues?
  2. My older boy was diagnosed with a major disc collapse (L2/L3) and one of his symptoms earlier on was pacing at night, though he also had discospondylitis which made things worse. Poor boy - I hope the medication eases his pain, and that you can find out what is causing it. It's awful to see them in pain.
  3. A chiro vet will not necessarily do manipulations though. The idea is that they are more likely to be able to diagnose back issues correctly, and then appropriate treatment can begin (which may or may not include manipulations). My older dogs have back problems that were not diagnosed correctly until I took them to a chiro vet, and they had been to multiple vets previously. Coco, who has the more severe issues, has never been manipulated and never will be - but taking him to the chiro vet was the best thing I did.
  4. I was wondering the same thing actually, whether ethoxyquin is used. If the food is e-free then perhaps this could be made clear on the website?
  5. Did the vet have any idea as to what was causing the back pain? I have two older dogs with back issues, so with any sign of back pain now the dogs are off to the chiro vet for a thorough check and xrays if needed.
  6. Do you know the name of that course? Can't seem to find it. Try looking around here: http://www.ethology.eu/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=2&Itemid=2 There are a few available. I have a friend doing one of them because he's self taught well enough that he didn't feel he'd get much out of either the NDTF or Delta courses. I think he was right. I've met plenty of Delta and NDTF graduates and those with knowledge to rival what he's learnt on his own have gained it through ongoing education, self-driven and through conferences and workshops. That's interesting, thanks.

  8. I have had very little feedback on it. I have been told by customers it is good, no real feedback thou. Thanks.
  9. Has anyone used Young at Heart, or does anyone have any feedback on it?
  10. Excellent. I'd also add that i would never risk a known escape artist with low fencing. This sad tale makes me really worry how wrong things can go when normal dog owners don't know enough to make suitable matches for their own dogs and sound decisions. Rescue groups SHOULD know better although last year i got a call from someone who'd gone to a rescue group and their little dog had avoided a staffy that the family wanted to adopt. They took the dog home, ignored all the growling the staffy was doing at the small dog whenever it came near and after a few days, the staffy nearly killed the small dog. Upon complaining to the rescue group, they got told to get some professional help. Never mind the fact their dog was half dead already, did they want the staffy to finish what it had started? That was a rescue gorup NOT doing it's job at all well. Agree, particularly re fencing.

I'm so sorry for your loss.
  12. Thanks for the replies. Trifecta - thanks for the info and link, I'll read up on that.
  13. Haven't seen that website before, but the prescription meds I buy are listed on there for 1/4 of the price that I pay at the vets.
  14. Sorry to hear this about your boy. Hope the vet can get there soon.
  15. Just following on from a comment in another thread about wheat being an inflammatory agent, which other foods should be avoided for older dogs with arthritis/other issues? Also, are there any foods with anti-inflammatory properties that may help older dogs? Thanks.
  16. My foster dogs had the same access as my own dogs - except my dogs always had the best spots on the bed, and foster dogs were never allowed to steal Kayla's bed. Guess it depends on how your rescue group operates, but I agree with staffyluv - I do not treat foster dogs differently on the chance they will be treated differently in their new home, because I make sure my fosters are rehomed to similar environments that best suit them (all of my fosters are in wonderful homes). I don't think it gets any easier to say goodbye, but I found it helped to take a new foster as soon as one left. :D
  17. No problem, I'm just happy to have found a couple of the older ones! :)
  18. I just had a look at the tags and yeah, they're square. It's pretty annoying then that they've sent out such old stock as Justice hates high squeaks and runs away but he loves the squeak in the iSqueaks we got from Clean Run, which is obviously the new type of iSqueak. I might contact wagsalot and let them know. I would be happy to buy them off you - Keely doesn't care about the pitch just as long as they make a noise ! I'd be happy to give them to you but I've already promised to donate them to a friend's dog rescue for the next time she sells donated goods as part of a fundraiser. :) I wonder if they're the two I just bought from a rescue fundraiser. If it was from Little Legs Dog Rescue then yep, they're the ones. :p Yep, that's them. :D  Gosh the dog loving world is a small one! I hope Keely enjoys them! It is, but Keely is not one of mine (that was sparkycat). Maxie will enjoy them though! :D

  20. Yeah I'd probably consider that if I didn't use them for training toys, but I've yet to find something that my dogs love as much as they do these. I sent feedback to JW last week but never received a reply.

  22. That's a good price, thanks.
  23. Yes same, when I did adoptions they were the main reasons for moving dogs to different carers. I wonder how many rescues actually use the two carer approach?
