  1. One of my dogs had a cyst in a similar place on his hind leg. It was there for a number of weeks since it first appeared, grew, was squeezed by the vet, and then healed over. There was never any mention of having it removed, and no need for any other treatment. The vet wasn't concerned at all. That's just my experience though, not sure if it's typical for cysts.
  2. Yep I'll double check the VIP bag in the supermarket this afternoon and then give that a go I think - at least in the interim. kayla where did you order the Artemis just out of interest? I got it from the Natural Pet store here. Very quick delivery too. :)
  3. I recently ordered some of the new Artemis grain free, but even at the introductory price it's still around the same price as TOTW and Earthborn for a large bag. It will be interesting to see the price for Holistic Select grain free, given that the current anchovy and duck varieties with grain are more expensive than TOTW and Earthborn. I try to buy up in advance when they come on sale. I also like California Natural herring and sweet potato, but that's a bit more expensive too. The VIP would work out cheaper, even with the smaller bags.
  4. I am not the one being agressive. It has been said that why doesn't she reply to peoples on this thread....I am mearly pointing out that Sherel (BH) does not come onto this thread any more. Kayla1 cannot even tell me what her user name is, yet she condems her for not taking note of what is being said on this thread. If you have a complaint then send it to her...don't expect ther to ba a mind reader. I don't think I am being agressive at all, I think I am just making a stand for commonsense ..if you want answers, then ask her...how can that be agressive. Sheena I don't know how you are involved with BH, but some of your replies serve no other purpose than to turn people away from the product you try so hard to promote. Which as I said is a real shame, especially when there are those that would love nothing more than to support a local product.
  5. I'm not going to enter into a needless debate on this, suffice to say I have of course read her responses in the past (including those that were subsequently deleted from the thread). It's a real shame that what should be received as constructive feedback is met with such defensiveness in this thread.
  6. I don't see that though. Some people have posted positive feedback and others negative feedback. I think it's important that all feedback is given. I had a bad experience with BH as it gave my dogs gurgling tummies, terrible flatulence etc. If others have good experiences then that's great. But if negative feedback is given, then what's important is how BH responds. I think it's natural for some people to feel unsatisfied or frustrated if it appears the issues raised are not being addressed. To be honest, that's part of the reason why I won't use BH again, because I am not personally satisfied with the responses (or in some cases, lack of response) to date from BH in regards to issues raised in this thread. But that's just me. :) Maybe Black Hawk doesn't come into DOL any more...I havn't seen her on here for a long, long time. If I had issues, I would be more inclined to post on their Facebook Page or contact them direct through their website, rather than expect them to be reading DOL Forums all the time. I just posted on their FB page to raise the issue of the rumour about them supporting Pets Paradise & I will expect a response. :) ETA ..Nor would I be expecting the manufacturers of the other brands of dog food to be perusing DOL Forums either. If I had a complaint with them, then I would contact them direct. I have no idea whether all the issues that others have experienced have been raised with BH outside of this forum or not. Whether or not they choose to do that is up to them. I simply explained why, in part, I haven't used BH again. I would hope this type of information, that is honest reasons why people are not using the product, is seen as constructive feedback which can be taken on board and used to improve products and services. But it is only going to be constructive if it is conveyed to Black Hawk & that is not going to happen because , to my knowlege, BH does not come into DOL anymore. So if people really thought there was a problem (& I think, like all foods, there will always be some dogs that will have problems) then they should be being constructive & contacting Black Hawk direct. Doesn't that make sense ????? Given that BH has been on here in the past they would be aware of many of the issues already, so it wouldn't be surprising if people chose not to contact them directly. The decision to contact them would also be influenced by a whole range of other factors such as perceptions of whether the feedback would be taken seriously and acted upon. Notwithstanding that companies themselves have a vested interest in monitoring feedback on forums. But all this is beside the point, which is the way companies respond to negative feedback influences public perception, and is one of the reasons why I no longer use the product.

  9. I use slightly more than with the original Plaque Off - a rounded measure instead of flat. Thanks toshman.
  10. I know you've already seen a couple of trainers but I agree with others that suggested Steve from K9Pro, because of his experience with high drive dogs.
  11. I am using about 1/4 more than the Plaque Off per-kilo dosage as it is a powder and the plaque Off was sort-of concentrated in hard tiny lumps. I looked at the bag it came in and there are no dosage recommendations, I think I will write have just written to them to find out. Thanks Boronia, that's what made me wonder about dosage with it being a powder.
  12. For those that have used the canadian organic kelp in powder form, do you use the same amount? I'm going to order some of this given it's so much cheaper, and was thinking of using the little scoop that came with the plaque off.
  13. That's where I ordered mine from this morning and it's already been posted! If only all online orders were so quick. Thats the type I am going to give a go too Kayla1. Mine usually have TOTW salmon or Earthborn but thought I might give this a go. Yes mine are also getting Earthborn, or sometimes Holistic Select anchovy. Both of which are good, but doesn't hurt to try something new.
  14. Thanks megan and the good dogs. Annie and Maxie are not at that level but that's ok, the Melbourne session on fearfulness and reactivity looks good.
  15. Love the video of Seven. My older boy Coco is the funniest of my dogs. He thumps around the house, thump thump thump, you can hear him coming a mile away. And he only weighs 16kg. Then he has to make his bed on the couch, and the blanket and cushions fly off in all directions while he is digging to China. Then when he is hungry, he bellows...not just a regular bark, but a throw your head back and yell at the top of your lungs type bellow. Then when I take him in the car he sticks his head out the window and lets out a deafening squeal every time we pass someone walking their dog. Usually it's the dog being walked that hears Coco's squeal first, because the dog will turn to see where the squeal is coming from, then the person usually laughs when they see Coco squealing from the window as we drive past. After we have passed them, Coco turns to me and stares at my pocket...I've been a good boy Mum, can I have a treat now!
  16. So you can take dogs to the Sydney event but not to the one in Melbourne, is that right? On the website it looks like the Melbourne seminar is just for people, no dogs.
  17. No, but I've just ordered a bag of the salmon to try it.
  18. A friend of mine had a dog that would dive under the water - he'd swim on the surface then dive under head first, swim underwater for a while, come back up then do it all again. It was quite amazing.
  19. Thanks DeltaCharlie. Yes just as easy to get both done if they go to the same place. The vet also said the parvo test has changed and is a better indicator of immunity now, though I'm not sure what the changes are exactly or when they occurred.
  20. Poor boy, if it's discospondylitis it can be very painful. Hope the meds help to ease the pain.
  21. Apologies for starting yet another thread on this, but I can't quite find what I'm looking for in the other threads. For those that titre test, do you get the parvo test only, or just parvo and distemper, or all three (inc hepatitis)? I was chatting to a vet recently about titre testing, and she suggested just parvo because the others are rarely seen. I see in previous threads it was suggested that hepatitis is not necessary, but not sure about distemper.
  22. I wonder how elderly people would cope with this, those unable to lug crates in and out of cars. I guess they would have to use one of the loan crates. Surely it would create extra work for staff though, with all the cleaning and maintenance of the loan crates.
  23. One of my dogs went in for a dental recently and I was chatting to the vet about giving fluids, because I had requested fluids for my dog, and the vet said they now use fluids for nearly all procedures. I don't know whether that is normal practice at other clinics though.
  24. and asks for donations Ummm... the ABN listed for the NARGA site is "Not entitled to receive tax deductible gifts", and is listed as being in Queensland (postcode 4660 - isn't that up near Red Collar Rescue?) - yet the person who is the registrant on the websites is from Tasmania?? I'd be pretty positive that they don't have the authorisation to solicit donations... T. Not sure if it was there before, but there is a statement on the website now saying they cannot currently accept donations.
  25. If you click on Heart Reward System survey (just above greyhound haven) you can see the questions.
