There is also SLE (systemic Lupus Erythematosus) which is different to DLE which affects the skin. My dog has SLE, she will have certain restrictions however there's nothing to say she will not live a normal life like any other dog I have heard on DOL that dogs with DLE have shown no problems for periods of time. So hopefully if this dog does have DLE it will be like the cases I have heard on here. I am yet to find another member whose dog has the SLE form of Lupus, so I rely heavily on the vet and the Internet to help with my research!

My GR has Lupus, she's managed well on medication - “Macrolone”. Her white blood cells were very low, so we retested and still very low so we did an abdominal ultra sound which turned no further answer, so our final option was to do bone marrow biopsies which were sent off and gave us a diagnosis. Her blood was tested a few weeks back and now she's maintained her white blood cells are back to normal range, her weight is almost back to normal, and she's racing around like a puppy again - previously was very flat, lethargic etc She's ALWAYS wanting more food... Well more than what's normal for a Goldie! I am told the medication will do this to her though. All in all there's no reason why dogs cant resume a normal life, just have to be careful because Charlotte will be prone to infection, other than that, she's doing fantastic!

Hi all I'm after some recommendations for people who have gotten a Portrait painted of their fur kid. I would like to get one done again (previously have got someone off Ebay to do it each time) but i've noticed the quality has gone down considerably. I have thousands of photos of my Golden Retriever Charlotte I think i've chosen through a few photos which ones i will pass on to the artist. Next step is choosing the artist, having major problems deciding on who to use, what medium to have it done in and also that costs seem to be varied artist to artist. Appreciate any recommendations on who to use. Thanks in advance :D

I hope so too LC! However, now that we have the little man to think of, we probably won't be able to come every month like we used to. I'll still try and come at least every second month I think. :D That is completely understandable! It will be nice to see you when you can come along, given you need to consider little Jeremy! Look forward to meeting your little fella assuming all is well to go ahead next month! Charlotte will likely be back to a healthy weight by then, so all you'll notice is the lack of hair growth on her

Hopefully we can have a bigger meet next month! Such a shame so many have had to be cancelled due to lack of interest this year. We used to be so consistent in having enough every meet! I sure hope numbers come up for future meets as it starts to warm up!

I am with PIA and have found them extremely good, in the last 6 weeks I have had expenses that have added to over $1400. I havent had to claim before so I cant say how quick they are to pay, and the claim was only sent of yesterday so I should find out how soon it is pretty soon I would think. I have a Golden Retriever and we pay $19.86 a fortnight for her, it only went up $2 extra a fortnight this year compared to last year. Hope you find one that's suitable for you.

Hi all. I am after some diet advice for my almost 6yr Golden Retriever. She has just been diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and she is on Macrolone medication to control the condition (starting off at a high dose and weaning slowly to a low dose). She has for the last 9 months been on a 100% RAW diet and I was wondering if it would be a good idea to give her a super premium kibble for the mornings to ensure it's all complete and balanced? A friend suggested trying Black Hawk, but also after other suggestions of what would be suitable. She is allergic to chicken so I am after advice on which brand to try.

Thought I would start up the thread for those who will be going along. For anyone who does want to come along, there a few things to know: 1. We are going to have fun and let the dogs have fun (this is a big one!) 2. If your dog is not so good with others, it is ok because there are other runs you can use 3. We want ALL the dogs to have fun, so no humping, fighting etc allowed. And as above there are other runs we can use. 4. The more the merrier 5. Not restricted to DOL members 6. $15.00 PER dog (Sorry, but there is no discount for bringing multiple dogs/puppies, its $15 a dog/puppy. Has been this way since we started). 7. BYO drinks 8. We usually each bring something. 9. I am happy for those who do not bring food to pay $5.00 but i need to know how many are not bringing anything so I can make sure we have enough.
