  1. Might also help people to know when closing date is?? hmmm thinking thinking will i wont i...
  2. I do believe it does rip a piece out of our hearts each animal who passes on. Broke my heart losing two dogs I loved quickly. I miss all my departed animals dearly but the way i think of things is Charlotte needs me to be strong for her. I cross my fingers and hope each night as i say goodnight to Lucy and Cloudy who both reside at their favourite window of the house to watch over Charlotte ensuring she's with me for many years to come. Boy Jag sounds like he's a nice big fella now. I'll come into Rotty thread to see if i can see any pics of him and Dyz. Such beautiful dogs ;)
  3. I'll have to check on this as I have been buying since February and have NEVER gotten any card for a certain amount and then get a free bag. I probably wouldnt have all the reciepts anymore though.
  4. Dyzney, I lost 2 dogs Cloudy and Lucy both GRs 16 months apart. Cloudy we lost 7 weeks after her rescue in July 2007 at nearly 8yrs. Lucy (in my avatar) we lost her November 2008 to Lymphoma at nearly 6yrs. I miss them both very much but know they are together. Charlotte is doing well, enjoying swimming as usual! How are the Rotties? Give them a cuddle from me. I secretly LOVE Rotties Shh dont tell Charlotte :p
  5. Dyzney: I am terribly sorry to hear of your loss. Jess looks like she was a beautiful girl who would have touched everyone's hearts. I know it's very hard saying goodbye to a dog. Jess lived a wonderful long life full of enjoyment. Lucy & Cloudy are up in rainbow bridge and i am sure they and Jess would be together running through the beautiful meadows together.
  6. Try the raw Roo Tails they're fantastic, although my GR finished it in just under 15 mins. I havent fed raw for a LONG time, but in discussion on another forum, i mentioned about tartar building up and the fact she has a sensitive stomach too scared to go down raw route as she had severe runs for 3-5 days in a row when she had raw meat and bones. We had tried Chicken, Beef and Lamb at different times and with the same response. So i decided it was worth a go, I tried her today and there haven't been any problem at all. I am surprised that she hasn't reacted at all actually. I know what she will be having in conjunction with her usual dry food diet, she LOVED the Roo Tail as it also had alot of meat on it too. I checked her teeth afterward and they looked considerably better. She hasn't had bones or raw food since January. Will Shyla eat raw? I think it would be better having it raw than smoked or dried.
  7. What about Fawkner Vet? We go there and it's the next suburb across (it's very close to Coburg). Fawkner Vet Sydney road Fawkner 93593474 I cant remember the number on sydney road, but it is opposite a memorial gardens. The vet i recommend there is Dr. Tony Meese. He's great and they dont charge clients a fortune like some vets do. I also use Lort Smith in North Melbourne for things that are much more complex as Fawkner didnt have the facilities to do the tests she required. BTW I am in Mill Park.
  8. Lucy's Lymph nodes were like golf balls when felt but could not see them being a GR we only knew they were enlarged by feeling them. Not sure what it could be, i'll do some research to see what i can find...
  9. My GR usually goes once or twice a day. She's fed Advance. We dont feed Bones or raw meat to her due to stomach upsets.
  10. It does depend on how advanced Lymphoma and what type your puppy has. My 6yr old Golden was diagnosed last year with the most aggressive form and at diagnosis was in advanced stages. We could have opted for Chemo but Vet said that because of it having already spread to not only Lymph nodes but also her liver, spleen intestines and her heart and lungs were starting to fail also we decided to let her go peacefully given her prognosis was 1 week or two at the most. I didnt want to put her through Chemo with her health status being one extremely sick dog. We knew for a long while something wasnt right, but test results came back clear until her ultrasound showed up with enlarged lymph nodes. I also know of a dog who passed recently who was diagnosed at 2yrs but was in early stages and had 3 rounds of chemo with the first round he was in remisson for a year. I would like to wish you best of luck and i think if the results tell you that your pup does have lymphoma there are treatment options, but sadly for us we were too late. The time waiting for test results is the worst ;)

Been looking and looking and cant find them anywhere! Which Bunnies have victorians gotten them from?? Puppy due in 2 weeks so only have 10 weeks to have everything ready
  13. What are the cancer causing agents in advance? I would like to know more about this as I feed it to my GR. She has a very sensitive stomach and she hasnt had problems on Advance Sensitive.
  14. Completely agree with that! I think it is really silly not to be allowed to talk to our dogs too Really why is it so bad to be able to say the occassional good dog. My dog works well with vocal praise and i think it would help so much if we were allowed to say the occassional good dog. Just my opinion.
  15. What you describe sounds just like my GR in my avatar. She had a secondary infection (went straight into secondary there was no primary infection) when she coughed it was awful and she sneezed every 5 or so mins having to wipe snotty nose, pus from her eyes. Just about the only thing she didnt get was blood spraying everywhere. She coughed up flem, could hear the rubbish on her lungs when she coughed it was terrible! She was very close to having pneumonia and was indeed very sick. She was on medication and house arrest for 6 weeks. We sadly lost her in November after a quick battle to Lymphoma just a few months after she battled the KC which she had the KC previous to diagnosis of the Lyphoma She was so bad with KC we thought we were going to lose her. Thankfully she pulled through it but yes it can be very serious.
  16. Hi guys, well Charlotte is my very first dog which i am going to Trial. I have never done anything with dogs other than teaching basic commands. Now comes time where we are getting ready for trialling in CCD. I am asking for suggestions... My GR does quite well but a minor set back we have is I do treat her what are suggestions in weaning her off treats as i believe we cant talk to our dog except when exercise is over?? My dog responds extremely well to my voice so wondering how i can go about the fact of no treats in the ring. The only things i need treats for really is only her Recall and occassionally her drop she flat out refuses. With SFE is there a way to getting the dog to not move their feet when i give hand signal she tends to move a couple extra steps in group training classes we're having some problems with her not doing everything as good as she used to yet when i practice on our own at the park she does everything i ask of her. Any help much appreciated
  17. We go to Lort Smith. Their fees are lower than other vet clinics even for surgery it is much lower.
  18. I'm sorry to hear of your loss. Another taken way too soon. Rest In Peace Cassie :D to you in this difficult time.
  19. Rest In Peace Elliot Find my 2 goldies Cloudy and Lucy up there. Sorry to hear of your heartbreak. What a wonderful 17 years you had with your boy Chewy
  20. I bath my Golden Retriever every 4-6 weeks. She goes to a groomer usually, but when my back is ok i bath her myself (i have my own hydrobath). I dont do her myself in cool weather as i dont have a dryer yet so she takes forever to dry. I used a hair dryer on her once which took 3 hrs to fully dry her. When my puppy comes i will be exposing him to things from a young age, they do really need to be exposed to things they may encounter at some point in their life. ETA: I use Aloveen shampoo and conditioner on her.

Both suggestions are really good. At this stage think i'll go for the bunnings compost bins idea as it will not be used for the puppy for a long period, once puppy is too big/doesnt need it the rabbits will have it.

Thanks for the suggestion. Roughly what size would each set of 4 panels be? Golly that's pretty darn cheap!

    Puppy Pens

Does anyone know of a cheaper way than getting a Puppy pen. I looked on ebay and they're pretty expensive. I will be getting a Golden Retriever puppy end of September/early October and want to find a cheaper way of confining him. I havent used crates/pens from puppyhood so am a newbie at this. I have one 4yr old GR and she had a crate for most of this year never had her in one prior to that. Any suggestions of who has cheap pens or a way to make a cheap one. I have plenty of time on my hands to be able to make things. Much appreciated.
  24. My first golden retriever Lucy () we got at 16 weeks and took 2 days to be toilet trained! She never toileted inside again until she was a very sick dog and started getting incontinent (she was pts at nearly 6yrs to Lymphoma). Now I am worried about my next puppy coming home in October if he will be as good.
