Good luck to all who are entered Pity I cant just come to watch but i unfortunately cant get there as my dad has now organised to drive to Bendigo. -
Thank you for your reply. Charlotte's left knee is worse than it was yet her right appears to be getting a little better. She finishes the anti inflammatories tomorrow. What i would like to know is the vet wants to see her again, but how long does rimadyl stay in her system for and would monday or tuesday be enough time to be able for it to be out of her system so he can see what she is like? She yelped twice yesterday when i tried moving her and must have touched her leg too hard as it is extremely painful for her if i touch it now. Do you think she's done further damage to it?

Rach I have sent my pics through email sorry for sending so many but i couldnt decide!

Shel: We will not be coming now. Charlotte's legs dont seem much better limp is still pretty bad despite the anti inflams. She's going back on Monday morning to see if she will need Cruciate surgery or not. -
My Golden Retriever was displaying very painfull back legs following playing rough with another dog and landed the wrong way. We took her to the vet to find cruciates in both legs are severely STRAINED. The vet has put her on Rimadyl which she finishes on Saturday coming, and she doesnt appear in pain but she was to be rested for 4 weeks. She doesnt appear to be in pain, but her vet said it will be quite easy for them to tear if she isnt kept rested. She's barely moved off her bed in the 7 days she's been resting so far only for toileting or getting a meal. He wants to see her next monday, how would i know if shes actually ruptured one or both now? I've been researching this topic but cant really seem to find info on strained ligaments only finding info on the ruptured/torn ligaments.

Slap her round to make her listen????? No one slaps beautiful gentle Charlotte around I know! I mean you've met the beautiful gentle Charlotte and is she a naughty dog? nope. I rarely even have to say the word no to her. She just wants nothing more than to be a good girl and well loved she just wants to please. I have never lay a finger on my dogs, it achieves nothing but to make the dog afraid of you. What dog would be happy in that situation! Rommimum: Maybe i should have said that to the woman! I dont believe in any physical punishment like that.

Well Trialling is definately a no no for us for a while Charlotte has severely strained both Cruciates and is on VERY strict rest this means No Jumping, running or walking for 4 weeks and is on Rimadyl for 10 days. The vet has said it will be VERY easy for either if not both to tear so hopefully we can prevent that by not doing anything which may cause further injury. crossing fingers it gets better soon. Of all times to happen it happens now right when i am excited about working towards the next trial.

I train at Warringal. I'm not sure if i will come to the november one. In two minds.
-
The main areas she mucked up were her drop, and heeling. I'm reconsidering entering October 4 now!
-
Yes she simply rolled on her side, didnt get up or sniff another dog. ETA: That dog who got up was not the dog next to her it was 2 dogs down and after everyone had already walked away from their dogs and a while after Charlotte had rolled so I fail to see how its my problem. I only partly agree with what you are saying Jules. Charlotte is normally very consistent with her stays has rarely broken a stay but being her first time in the ring i am guessing its the reason she broke the stays as it is NOT like her at all.
-
Sorry forgot to say we were in CCD. The nasty person told me that I should have slapped her around before going in the ring so she'd listen to me and that i clearly have absolutely no idea what the hell i am doing because i sucked! For the drop stay Charlotte broke (rolled on her side) and apparently it was my fault for making her dog get up and start going over to her and not to mention sniffing and licking a Boxer on the head. Lucky the Boxer didnt get up. I watched this person in the ring and yeah she was fairly good but her scores werent that great. She said the judge in the first trial was a so and so (wont say exactly what she said as its quite colourful) for not allowing a second chance to get to do it again. um hello i am a newbie and i knew immediately we stuffed it when Charlotte broke the drop stay. Vent over feeling better. I am entered in one October 4 not sure if that is too soon or not but oh well we will see Despite this person making it difficult for several people at the trial, i havent been turned off. Ok dont laugh at us but scores were 48 and 23

We sucked and failed both trials! I did get good tips and suggestions from both judges and another competitor who helped out too with tips. I was a nervous wreck when I went in the ring was more confident the second time, so I know what i need to do next time. There was someone who was a real nasty piece of work i can see why some are turned off trialling but i told her if she has nothing nice to say to me about my dog dont speak at all. Didnt turn me off On the upside i met a lady who has her litter sister and nice to know it is such a small world!

Oh my LM You really need one of these! :D :D Give Lucy a hug from me, and I am so terribly sorry the news you've gotten of Lucy's results let us know what her oncologist says monday :D
-
for the support. I now have rabbit treats on the product menu. Depending on the demand, I'm also thinking of working on supplying goat, venison, kangaroo etc. Let me know if you'd be interested in treats from this type of meat. We'd be more than happy to try the kangaroo! Charlotte will eat anything and everything if she could Gotta say though fish gave her farts and burps something terrible. We were in obedience class doing our stand for examination one by one, instructor went to do the examination and she let off a MASSIVE burp! Excuse my useless brain, but what is Venison? :D
-
Anyone got other ideas also? Want to be able to have a few in mind
-
I too am a huge fan of happy paws treats. My GR LOVES them. Also very good on her stomach as she has a sensitive stomach.

Can anyone recommend a good reliable vet in the Mill Park area within 15-20 min radius of my area. Any suggestions appreciated. Current vet we use is an hour's drive and usually need to make appointments a week in advance which usually when we need the vet we need it within a few days. Any suggestions taken on board

I feared that Molly would have Lymphoma. Her symptoms are all the same as my Lucy's were. We were told a week maybe two at the most, Lucy only lived a few days after diagnosis before her lungs and heart were also failing. The day we had her pts she had a maccas icecream. Her last days here she got everything and anything she wanted. I know exactly how you're feeling. Also on the subject of cremation, I have used All Roads Lead to Heaven twice and found an exceptional service and don't require full upfront payment. Irene is a fantastic lady and very comforting in our hard time with Lucy and 18 months prior Cloudy.

If I can get someone to puppy sit a 9 week old Golden Retriever for that day i will enter Charlotte in CCD. We are getting our puppy the weekend before so he will not be covered to bring him along. -
Sounds just like me! I couldnt and wouldnt eat for days but eventually i had to because i knew i had to be strong for her.

Terribly sorry to hear what you're going through with Molly Did the vet say Lymphoma? Lymphoma doesnt always have enlarged Lymph nodes at the beginning. My GR didnt have swollen Lymph nodes at first. Some suggestions... There are anti-cancer diets which I believe it is puggy puggy who knows a fair bit about, maybe do a search for it on here. Make sure Molly is comfortable and not in pain. If you go down the route of holistic things you can do i believe there is management of the disease. I did alot of research on this last year. Also has the vet done an abdominal ultrasound? This helped our diagnosis also as we then had surgery done for biopsies to find it had spread to several organs. Lastly we are all here and many of us have been through the pain and heart ache of a dog battling cancer.
