Dry Food For Sensitive Stomachs
Sankari replied to poodle proud's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My GR has a terrible stomach at times, she has with success tolerated Advance Sensitive skin and stomach & Eukanuba sensitive stomach, havent tried any other brands. I did find she was fine on those I dont believe all dogs can tolerate RMB. But then i am sure some will debate that but going on personal experience my girl has issues tolerating RMB yet she can tolerate a small amount of roo a few times weekly then once a week she gets half a roo tail (way too rich to give a whole one). -
I havent had a puppy for a long time, but my next pup I am going for the 3 vaccs (first done by breeder of course).

Werribee Obedience Dog Club
Sankari replied to Eliteview Aussies's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Would love to know how everyone went at Werribee -
She had the best time!!! She was disappointed though that she didnt play with dogs as she does associate Kepala with DOL meets where she plays with dogs. She is brighter and happier and is able to move around a little more by the day, but today she is really feeling that swimming lesson! She still cant bend her knees when she walks as the vet explained it she walks stiff legged with the back legs. Has another assessment in 5 weeks and starts another course of cartrophen then as well. But between now and then we're slowly increasing the walks and getting swimming in each week and she's getting bowen done when i book it. I am just about to give the bowen therapist a call

It's $25 for the swimming lesson and then if you go back again each time is $8 for half an hour for one dog.

It was at Kepala Canine Country club in Diggers Rest just off the Calder freeway Kepala Canine Country Club

Didnt get too many pics but will next time And outside the pool... We used the life jacket at first as she is hesitant at first as the indoor pool is a whole new experience. Still on lead, after a few laps we took the jacket off. She did really well and she didnt want to leave. She did 6 laps today. Booking them once a week. I'll get lots more next time. She's exhausted now sleeping on her armchair.

I use Joint Guard. It is no smell, and my dog is doing well on it. She has DJD of her Hip. I was looking into Sasha's blend for my first dog a good few yrs back when she had ED HD and severe arthritis from a young age. I looked them all up at the time i didnt know of Joint guard. Lucy was a fussy dog with smells so she HATED the smell of anything "fishy" I ended up after 4 days of her refusing to eat anything because it was "poison" I eventually got Vets all natural into her. I noticed a slight improvement. However when Charlotte had these problems only about a month or so ago, i went for Joint guard as I had heard more good things about that than sashas blend. I am happy with this one so plan to stay on it.

Sorry to hear how many ops lil Hugo has had to have. Hope this surgery is the last he has to endure. Looks like his "carer" is doing his job well Sending healing vibes your way and give Hugo and of course big fluffy Fletcher some big cuddles from me and kisses from Charlotte.

Thank you very muchly

Could you do me the honours of working out how many i will get out of it also? I am completely un-mathical Charlotte is on the 1 scoop daily amount. Oh and yes they are quite quick with delivery.
-
oops um yeah it is supposed to be 1 1/2 Gosh um a 400g tub i'm not sure, i'm still on the first 200g tub for Charlotte. Hardly anything gone out of it I would think a 400 would last at least a few months probably longer. Well if this helps each level scoop is 5 grams.

Someone told me to give my dog Arnica. She has DJD of right hip and had partially torn both ACLs. Vet didnt recommend surgery for her. She is on 3 1000mg fish oil capsules daily, Joint guard and has just finished her first course of cartrophen. She is having another course in 6 weeks also. Do I need to get a human or is there a dog one i should get? Not sure i havent heard of it before. I was wondering what it is supposed to do and what help it is to dogs.

Happy to help MBR writing this from the label on the tub i have... Initial Period 4-6 wks 5-10kg 1/2 scoop daily 11-22kg 1 scoop daily 23-44kg 1 1/2 scoops daily over 45 kg 2 scoops daily Maintenance dose 5-10kg 1/4 scoop daily 11-22kg 1/2 scoop daily 23-44kg 1 scoop daily over 45 kg 1/2 scoops daily Because Charlotte was already on cartrophen injections (first injection was the day before) when we started joint guard we could go straight onto maintenance dose which is what we were told.

This is the cheapest place I have found Joint Guard so far, next tub we need i'm going to get the largest one. Charlotte gets 1 scoop per day and has been on it 4 weeks now, hardly notice anything gone out of it. It is far better than the others i looked into plus no smell. It is also cost effective as it lasts ages! :p Greyhound Products Direct How much does your dog weigh?

I use Joint Guard. My GR has DJD of the right Hip and has also had cruciate injury to both left and right knees. Our vet recommended putting her onto it. I think it's cheapest to buy it from www.greyhoundproductsdirect.com.au ETA Charlotte also gets 3 1000mg Fish oil capsules a day. I have used other brands in the past with Lucy who had HD ED and arthritis from 10 months but none of them seemed to work. With Charlotte i am noticing an improvement in her Hips and has been on it for just over 4 weeks now

Juice: Archie on here told me that the human products have no benefit to animals. I would be going for animal one rather than a human product JMO. Personally Glyde is far too expensive for me to contemplate giving hence the reason i use Joint guard which is alot cheaper and lasts ages too.

My GR has DJD in her Right Hip. She has also got 2 partial torn cruciates both left and right knees Our vet says she doesnt need surgery as it isnt severe enough to warrant having the cruciates repaired. She has just finished a course of cartrophen and is on Joint guard and fish oil daily. We have noticed an improvement in the movement of the Hip but her knees she still has some pain which she also gets pain medication if she needs it. Her exercise is modified and she is starting swimming soon too which will help both the hip and the severe muscle wastage. She has to have another 4 week course of cartrophen injections in 6 weeks. Charlotte is 4 years old.

Partial Tear Of Cruciate Ligament
Sankari replied to MooBoo's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My GR is currently recovering from two cruciate injuries. We havent done surgery on her as we were following advice by our vet who thinks as it is only likely to be partially torn and on the cartrophen injections has improved a great deal that surgery isnt warranted. She is now topping the scales at 31kg (she is normally looking great at 26kg) and I am trying to get that off but it's not easy with limited exercise allowed. We are now given the all clear to start swimming, and a little more exercise as well as some other things like Bowen etc... Charlotte is also on Joint guard - for her hip and fish oil as well which the vet recommended. I can fully understand why you are so worried about putting her under anaesthetic, I would think if it is nearly completely torn surgery would be a given, but i would also be concerned about health status as you mention her heart, age etc. If i were in that position i would write all the pros and cons of the surgery at her age and health status and then decide what to do. In saying that it would be difficult to know what to do, if surgery is the only option then i would go for it. I had no hesitation for surgery for Charlotte, but i was guided by the vets advice and opinion which is the reason she hasnt had surgery. -
Thanks! Shel yes, to think she was only running around at Kepala with the gang in August now out of nowhere a hip problem arises and the cruciates tear Tuesday she is going back to the vet and we are talking surgery. It's not getting any better and i feel by putting her through surgery it will give her the best possible outcome. I would like to know since the hip problem is in the right and that leg is quite bad would you suggest to do the right cruciate first (as of course they will need to be done at different times). Shel I'll PM you for info about the person Bronte seen. Poor Charlotte is absolutely miserable and i havent been sleeping too well with my worries for her as well.

Charlotte is back from the vet. Not at all what I expected there are a few things wrong Right hip has degeneration occurring and the ball is significantly smaller and flat against the socket therefore it is rubbing on the socket. Left and right leg has torn the Prosterior Cruciate Ligament which is the one they dont normally do. For now the vet wants to maintain the pain from the hip as she is more concerned about that at the present time. So 4 weeks of Cartrophen injection once a week then each week at the consult they'll see how knees are going and if they are getting worse and nothing is getting better we will look at surgery to fix. Vet suggested to put her on Sashas blend but i'm looking into Joint guard as i have heard good things about it. We spoke about surgery once her hip isnt causing so much pain rather than rushing in now to do it. I agree with that, but i will also speak with original vet who seen her 2 weeks ago and get his opinion as he is the practice owner and if surgery is going to be done he is the one who would be doing it. Charlotte is doing well. Apparently she made herself at home at the vet and found lots of friends in the nurses. Such a people dog!
-
Thankyou! I am thinking the TPLO direction for surgery but undecided as we havent spoken about surgery options with our vet yet. Still doing my research. Which road did you go down? interested in opinions on the different surgeries.

updating, Charlotte went to Vet today and has done more damage most likely ACL Rupture. She's getting the drawer test done and as a precaution in case as she did have hip pain as well, getting hip xrays as well as knee xrays.
