I find them to be very overpriced. I go elsewhere for the very reason to get food and supplies cheaper even if I have to go an extra half hour to somewhere that have it cheaper (Pets at home plenty valley is a 1 minute drive). I like that they sell dogs and cats which come from the shelter, but i would like to see them not selling any other animals like rabbits, guinea pigs, birds etc.

Sorry Evolving! Well Charlotte better get used to the competition because when i eventually decide on my next dog I think he will be a waterbaby too. It's great when you have a dog who loves swimming, means places like kepala are loads of fun. Although i must say i didnt have to teach Charlotte, I had her 2 days and let her off to Change her to her collar and bolted after a duck and into a creek where she was VERY yucky afterwards. She came back immediately though She is a very true golden thats for sure.

Thanks for your assistance, I have a clicker and am reading up on it and i did one session, did quite well. I did some distraction training a few nights ago. That worked very well. I have issues with her heeling, she heals reasonably well on lead but the minute she's offlead shes in another world, but only like that with her heeling. I'm watching lots of videos on youtube, and educating myself on clicker training. Hopefully we'll nip the heeling in the bud soon.

Can someone tell me the best size for a GR? Is medium ok or do i need a Large?

Hi all, I went to our first and only trial back in september we didnt pass as i think both myself and my dog werent quite ready. Well it was a double trial and she did a double knee injury which thankfully wasnt a surgery case, and have just been thinking about getting back into it. We havent done any training since then so she's probably forgotten alot... I would like to know what's the best way of training her to heal off lead without her losing focus. She's got brilliant healing on lead (most of the time) but off lead she walks away. If I have food shes perfect, but of course food isnt allowed in the ring. I am going to start training her again tomorrow, so any pointers of what things to do to get her back into it and make it as enjoyable as possible are appreciated. Also she was really bad at her sit and down stays, they're perfect if shes the only dog but in a group she is distracted. Anything I should know?

She's looking a little brighter today, has done one very small poo. She's drinking ALOT as well, which is a bit odd, but I am not overly concerned about that at the moment. She never chews anything up so thats unlikely, however she does eat anything she thinks is a possible food source. She could have eaten some woodshavings and rabbit faeces, as i was cleaning the hutches out last night. She's still tender in the stomach, but i'll keep an eye on her and take her down the vet if she worsens or doesnt improve.

My 4yr old Golden Retriever got more dinner than she usually does. My father didnt even ask if I had fed her and just randomly gave her a huge meal even though I had already fed her the maximum amount only half hour before. So all up for dinner she had 4 cups of dry food Makes me so angry as everyone knows I feed all animals her unless otherwise instructed Anyway this was at 8pm and her abdomen feels very hard and she hasnt passed anything (she always does within 1-2hrs). She's not distressed but it feels like a rock, should I give her something to help her start to pass it? It just feels awful and yet she's still smiling. I can hear her stomach rumbling so maybe theres lots of gas as well (also farting like a trooper). She's drinking and she's been eating ALOT of grass outside. She doesnt seem herself. Would you give anything to a dog and if so what would you give. Keeping an eye on her overnight if she worsens will be off to emergency otherwise vet first thing in the morning.

I know! Once she's in theres no getting her out not even a ball can entice her out You should see her without other dogs around she's even worse, she swims in circles and i call her out and she comes and just when i'm about to put her lead on she bolts back in Gosh she's trouble sometimes when it comes to water! I swear she's not going in as much tomorrow if i can help it...

I like taking my dog to kepala. She has lots of fun there, being a waterbaby golden theres lots of options for us We also go to Ruffey Lake park. I am yet to go to the beach with her, been meaning to for ages! Anything exciting, different parks, playdates with other dogs she loves it.

Thak you all, I dont know if i need a hug or maybe just something for me to relax with! Feeling rather crappy, think a day at Kepala will lighten my spirits tomorrow I guess what i'm trying to say is even though she wasnt my dog, i still feel a bit of saddness from hearing the news.

Rest In Peace little Beam. You had a tough fight but you just weren't strong enough. 7am owner got the call she didnt survive the night
-
I think I must have misunderstood your intention by your post. I think I shall head off for bed and read the topic properly when I can actually understand the intent behind posts. Just been one horrid day for me unfortunately :D Of course not as awful as the owner would be feeling right now, just feeling terrible for what this dog has gone through in one day praying and hoping she gets through
-
I'll be going into the owner's place tomorrow to ask how the little girl is. Erny: pretty sure now this has happened the owner will keep them seperated for the remainder of their lives. Does make you wonder what brought the attack on though. SNF: I was told over the phone and it was the nurse who relayed over the phone what the vet said. When i spoke to her owner she said she'll be changing vets as she hasnt been happy with the vet lately.
-
I think so too. What vet says something like that! :D I think she should change vets!!! Fingers crossed she makes it.
-
Update.. The owner got home before the police did so she rushed her straight in the emergency. About an hour later she returned home and she came straight into our place to thank us for all our efforts to help her dog. I've just spoken to the owner, she's pretty badly hurt. She's got a smashed windpipe, couldnt breathe too well and has very deep gashes and punctures everywhere. Vet says should make it through the night. Gosh i feel so sorry for the owner. I didnt realise she was an old girl, she looks so much younger, she's 12yrs old and has severe health problems - the only thing on her side at the moment is her heart and blood pressure is good. Owner will get another update later tonight and she's given her mobile number in case of any future things that happen with her dogs for one reason or another. :D Please get through the night Beam. ETA: Rommi, the younger one is apparently the one who is top dog out of the 3 of them, and has been from a young pup. She'd be i'd say maybe 6 or 7. They've always got on ok except for over food but the owner is saying when Beam comes come if she does survive, she'll be keeping the two bitches seperated. Thank you all for your help and assistance.

yes, her vet was going to give her a call. I am really crossing my fingers for the poor dog. I feel really sick in the stomach now. If I got home and that had happened to my dog i would be mortified.

Thanks for the advice everyone! Um i feel a little stupid, it wasnt dead. I rang the vet who said leave it there, have rung Police. They're sending someone around. Her vet was no help, told me to leave it there.
