Thanks SG. There's no way i would have slept without her at all. Last night was hard enough! Then had to do an 8 hour shift of work placement doing nothing but peeling stickers off shelves getting ready for stocktake sale! I am counting down to 5pm friday when we finish work placement. I am so very lucky mum is home to look after Charlotte for me while i am at work. Her hair takes forever to grow back usually. Hopefully it doesnt take too long! I rather her gain some weight lazing around and getting lots of treats in an attempt to keep her quiet than her hurting herself trying to do more than shes supposed to. Will pass on the cuddles and kisses to her from you.

I was stoked when the vet rang me to tell me she had been done and she would be discharged tonight. I prepared myself for another night away from her but was surprised It's good to have her home on her own bed. It could take a few days for her to put weight on the leg, but she seems to be sleeping well which is good because it does make it easy to keep her quiet. Pointees: I had a big shock, it'll take forever to grow back. She's so tired poor girl!

Good news all... My little girl has been discharged She's very groggy, sore and on the way home (it's one hour from the vet) she slept and snored the whole way. I cant get over all the fur gone! :D She only has fur from where the pads start downwards. She has stitches in for 14 days, is on Cephalexin and Rimadyl for the next two weeks and great fun keeping her occupied and quiet for 6 weeks! I did get to snap a couple photos. She's sound asleep. She has lovely Orange and Blue vet wrap on

Thank you Lappiemum. I am really missing my little girl already! I have to give them a call tomorrow at 5pm if I havent had a call to find out how she's gone, when we're looking at the other leg to be done etc... crossing fingers she comes home Wednesday. We're all ready to bring her home, the pen is all done just have to buy more rubber matting for the floor so when she comes out of the pen for toileting there is no chance of slipping. She'll be back on her new and improved legs chasing balls and terrorising and barking at dogs who steal her kepala pool in no time! Thank you for your thoughts, very appreciated. Will let you know when i get an update ;)

Sounds like Dexter and you had a great time CF Pointees: send healing vibes for Jack from me. I am currently twiddling my thumbs with nothing to do! Charlotte is in the vet probably coming home Wednesday or Thursday. I cant wait to have her home again and she has only been there since 9am this morning.

Lovely photos as usual Pointees

Evolving: Lovely photos! Echo thinks all the toys at Kepala are for her! The puppy in her mouth, Charlotte has the same one. I bought it from Pets at home.

Yay! I'll get lots of cuddles then.

Anyone decided on June yet? I know its early but wondering!
-
Tasha naughty? Never!
-
Looks like all the dogs had a ball! Tasha looks like she's really got her coat back now. Sohvi is such a devil pulling Bear's tail! What's with that obsession in the lappies of tail pulling, Lappiemum?
-
Thank you for uploading the photos Lappiemum. Seeing the photos is almost as good as being there. I think i'll make it to June but wont have the mighty golden one. She'll still be on crate rest then but i'll pretend one of the dogs is mine for the day.

How big is Hector now! Great photos. Keep them coming.

I'm waiting..... I really missed you guys today

My nearly 5 yr old golden weighs 24kg (if she is more than about 25 or 26 she looks obese!) Definately a misprint. Beatiful bond and gotta love friendships like that.

Personally I couldnt. I have to cremate, it's a personal choice thing where i want my passed on dogs to be with me. Not sure if that's weird sounding or not, but just how i feel about my girl not being with me. I have cremated both dogs i've had PTS and have the ashes in my bedroom.

My first dog was diagnosed with Lymphoma and we were told the most aggressive form and in the end stages we were given a week or two at the very most. We said our goodbyes a few days later - She was very sick and her lymphoma was in several organs so it was in her best interests to be PTS. Chemo was no option for us despite her being only 6yrs. Some dogs do live a while after diagnosis, depends on what stage of the cancer it is in unfortunately we werent so lucky. I know of a dog who was diagnosed at 18 months old, had chemo then went in remission for 1 yr then it came back more chemo remission for 2 years then it came back but the owner chose not to go for treatment and give him his wings.
-
I have had 2 dogs PTS and both times stayed with them then brought them back home where the cremation place picked the dog up and brought the ashes back a few days later. They were PTS 18 months apart the first was a nearly 8yr old GR (paralysis) and second was nearly 6yr old GR (to end stage Lymphoma). I breed and show Rabbits and in December last year i faced my heart bunny's euthanasia and stayed with him. He had Paralysis most likely caused by complications of Head Tilt and prognosis was extremely poor. I didnt know rabbits were PTS directly into the heart and ever since then it's followed me. I still miss my little fella (I handraised from 3 days old) he was only 2.5yrs old.

I use Wahl and love them. I have had them for about 5 years now and they're still good as new

I have had both rescues and registered purebreds. My current girl is a Purebred papered dog. I had someone the other day ask what she's crossed with! :D I am all for the purebreds myself. I hate the insults when we have such a lovely purebred and people think I am weird for having a purebred. I wont say i wont have rescues in the future because it is possible, but I sure wouldnt make anyone feel odd just because they have a BYB dog/rescue or any other source. Main thing to me is that people love their dog

SG: I am sorry to hear things are worse for Bronte. I hope you have some relief really soon. It's awful to see her skin so bad like that :D Sending her healing vibes from Charlotte and I. I was wondering does anyone know who might have any use for a Black Dog Head halter. It's a SMALL size one. I have had it sitting in the dog leads collars etc shelf for years and clearly will not be using it ever. You can have it FREE or should i donate to rescue?

Pointees, I had Lucy's surgically removed when she was 4yrs old (they were infected every fortnight for a long time). If Charlotte's get too frequent i wont hesitate to do that too. Lucy was my first goldie when i was 15 (in my avatar pictured at 4 yrs). It is a relatively complex op with nerves very close, but if you have a good vet who has done the op before and has a good steady hand then I think it's worth it. The risk is they could become incontinent which happened with Lucy for the 5 days after surgery but once the drains and stitches were out she was back to her old self again I never looked back once the op was done. I take it the swimming lessons are going well? Charlotte loved hers, i havent taken her for a session for a while, but seems to go well with the cold water lagoon. Actually think she prefers the cold water I wont be coming to the May Kepala, mum wants me home for mothers day and and it's my grandfathers birthday (87 this year! ) How will Charlotte cope without her kepala!

You see the lady you want to see! I see no lady, ladies do not fart my mum told me growing up Nor do ladies release their anal glands twice in one week Just kidding, she is a lady when she wants to be. Most of the time she's pretty good and clean. She knows she's my big bubby Looks like we'll be off to the vet soon about those revolting glands. SG how did the visit with dermatologist go for Bronte? Is she feeling any better and is she back on the medication.
-
I know Lappiemum! But I didnt want burps and farts the whole way home, trust me Charlotte can vacate the loungeroom of a night time from her farts and all she has to say for herself is a Big Grin Thing is when she farts You hear it! I havent had dogs that you can hear their farts before My brother cracks up when he hears her. I always say my girl has alot of character, not a day goes by where we dont have something to laugh about at her antics.
-
:D You sound like me Pointees! Charlotte got lots of cuddles today from mentally disabled people today from the PALS program she's in (Pets Are Loving Support). One guy tried to feed her a pie! Just as well i grabbed it or else she'd probably burp or fart like a trooper
