Hi, Just an update on my puppy and his skin problems. I tried the EPO and still no good so I decided to go and visit another vet. The vet I took my puppy to had a special interest in skin allergy. They looked and him and did some test and found he had a yeast infection. I have had him on medication for about a week and the improvement has been incredible. Fingers crossed that this solves the problem. cheers

Keeping them seperate until they settle is definitley a good idea. I remember I had to split my back yard into 2 seperate areas and only allow them together while I was there. They will be best friends before you know, so don't feel guilty. If you have never had a Beagle, one thing you will realise and love about them is that they are not afraid of anything. They are very strong willed. marcos P.S can I see a photo of your Beagle pup

Hi Moosashi, I had a very similar problem, except I was introducing one Beagle to another. At first I had to keep them seperated because they would fight continously. I was told to let them sort out their differences and they eventualy did. One is a male and the other is a female. The female is definetley the dominant one with very strong personality. One thing I have learnt about Beagles is they love to play with their mouths. I think the Beagle will end up being the dominant out of the 2 because they are very persistant dogs. I would try and supervise them playing when you can and if Indee gets a bit carried away, just seperate them but don't make a big fuss and stay calm. She will grow out of it and it will be a little rough at first. I know for the first few weeks with my two, I was beginning to think if I did the right thing by getting another dog. Now they are best mates and have their play scuffles all the time, its very cute. It will work out, I know exactly how you must be feeling. Just hang in there. Let us know how it goes. marcos

Hey Sas, I hope your dog gets better. I know how frustrating it can be! You really feel for them. I will let you know how the EPO goes once I receive it. I have noticed some improvement in mine by just adding the Flaxseed Powder. marcos

I have ordered the EPO Shampoo and EPO Supplement. They do say to wash every 4 days initially. Hopefully this does the job. I will let you know how he goes. Thanks once again for everyones feedback. marcos

I just want to start by thanking everyone that has offered advice. I also believe it's a contact allergy, because it started happening as soon as he arrived at my house. I have been communicating with the breeder and she advised that none of the other puppies had had an problems. I think she keep a couple of the puppies from the same litter. I agree with not giving them cortisone and I really want to find the source of this allergy or at least treat it with natural products. I have only been washing him about every 4 weeks and using the Oatmeal shampoo the vet gave me. I have also treated with Iramine when it got bad. Garloch, are the Fish Oil Tablets, specifially for Dogs or just the ones for humans? Peigirl, I live about 20 minutes south of Wollongong. Well this is my plan. I am going to start with the EPO Shampoo and see how he goes. Should I continue to give the Flaxseed Powder? I was also giving him Biolac Plus with his food on the advice of the breeder. Should I stop using either or change the Flaxseed to the Fish Oil? Everyday when I wake up, the first thing I do is check his belly to see if it has improved. I can't wait until the day that I get up and he is not scratching. Thanks once again and really appreciate all the advice. marcos

Thanks for the advice. I was told to rub some Organic Evening Primrose Oil on his skin also. This is the product I was told. http://www.organicbeautyworld.com.au/zensc...;products_id=99 Could you let me know if I should this oil to help sooth the skin? I went and bought some Dog Flaxseed Powder Supplement to start giving him which has the Omega Fats etc. I have taken a good look around the house and have changed products that we use around the house for cleaning etc. I will be booking him in for a skin allergy test soon (waiting for vet to return from holidays). cheers marcos

Just be patient and don't show her that you are losing patience. A firm "NO" as you spray the bottle also. And as soon as she stops bitting, praise her with a nice pitched voice. Hopefully she will start to learn. But one thing I was doing wrong was playing with her and letting her bite and playing tug a war and she probably thought it was acceptable. So no rough games like tug a war etc, until she stops bitting. Another thing I have come to learn about Beagle's is that they have a tendency to play with their mouth, i.e bitting, especially when they are pupps. Don't stress too much, cause she will stop bitting soon. She's is still a baby. When she does stop, you will think there is something wrong with her....hehe

I went through the exact same thing with my Beagle. I use to use the spray bottle, but after a while it didn't bother her. She is now 10 months old and probably stopped a couple of months ago. I think it may have been a combination of teething and being a puppy. But since I got a second Beagle, her behavior has changed so much, it's incredible. She is much calmer and definitely no more bitting and listens. Do you leave her on her own while you are at work? Cause she could be bored and trying to get your attention. hope that helps marcos

I am going to try the Johnson's Baby Shampoo this week and see how he goes. I might also try the Emu Oil. I will let you know how they go. I would like to know what's causing this reaction. He is on the exact same diet as the breeder had him on. I have a suspicion is could the detergent that we use to wash our clothes. Reason being, we washed the dogs bedding with the same detergent and it seemed to flare up when that occured. So we have stopped using it and it has improved but it's still not 100%. marcos

Thanks for the advice. I was washing him with Oatmeal shampoo and that did nothing. I was recommended to wash him with Johnson's Baby Shampoo?? He scratches that much that he has red burn like marks on his belly and bottom of the neck. I had to rub some Illium cream and give him an antihistamine this morning. cheers

Hi, I have a 5 month old Beagle that has had an skin allergy since I bought him home (2 months ago). From the day he came home he started itching and it got quiet bad, so I took him to the vet. They had to give him antibiotics because he had an infection. They also gave him a dose of Antihistamine with Cortisone. They tested for Mites and Ringworm and results were negative It cleared up for a couple of weeks after he was on the medication and then came back I currently control it with Antihistamine and Illium Cream when required. I can tell he is in discomfort and I don't know if the Vet knows what else to do. I have been recommended Emu Oil to rub on him and Flaxseed Oil to digest. I have also been told that I can get a skin allergy test done. If anyone could advise what I should do or try I would really appreciate and I know my little puppy will to Thanks marcos

Hi, I have a 4 month old puppy that I believe may be teething. I have noticed over the last few days blood around his gums. Is there anything I should be doing to help this? Thanks in advance marcos Hi, me again.... I just searched through the forum and realised there was a post similar to mine. Sorry about that.

Freckles, I will definitely keep you updated on how they grow up. When I was looking for another puppy, there were 2 hard decisions.... Male or Female and what colour. I decided Male because I had a Female and I was told they would probably be better companions. Then the colour was a hard decision. Did I want 2 of the same or a variety. But they are both beautiful and couldn't imagine life without them Husky87, the Tan & White sure are beautiful.... Daisy is very cute

Thanks Husky87 The older one is Tan & White colour. I'll find the photos of the top of her and post them.
