  1. A pleasure to add my opinions .great work u guys do .sincere thanx
  2. Old age sucks!!i have a Almost totaly blind deaf& senile old girl who responds to vibrations more so than sounds ,u will find yr dogs other sences kick in when they loose one of the others . I found hand signals woked well b4Bela became almost totaly blind now a gentle tap on the sholder she responds to . Somehow she still hears the treat jarbeing lifted though lol .
  3. A beautiful tribute to a one eyed dog ,thanx for sharing ,though it bought a tear to my eye .
  4. I Have @2dogs with only one eye !!!The first pup was accidently picked up by mum@ birth & her eye was pierced ,this went unoticed until the eyes opened, It was so bad after many attempts to *fix* it ,i had he eye removed @a very early age ,she from the moment she started to get around ,used to hang on to the ear of another of my bitches & still to this day (now aged 9)does this ,she lives a perfectly normal life ,the only differnce is ,her other sences are far stronger !!She likes to hava chat & will warn me of smoke & strange smells .I was also very conserned that it may effect her temprement, re someone going up to her ,on her blind side ,but it certainly didnt . Her mother, now aged almost 16, has lost the sight in her good eye & had her other eye removed a few years ago due to a accident . Both cope extremly well . I personally see no problems, if this pup u talk of has been running with oher dogs ,if this loss accured @ an early age it will know no differnt & ajust to only having one eye one eyed dogs imo are very special!!
  5. My very first litter was 12!!!I made sure the bitch was never without kibble in between all the other things mentioned by op I also feed ox heart (cooked )to my bitches in whelp & give calcium supplement after each baby is born & for a few days following delivery
  6. Wow - I'm chuffed I'm just happy to help out where I can. I'm very honoured to be nominated. Congrats to all the other nominees A very well deserved nomination Kim You are a legend !! congratulations to all nominees
  7. They need to dig out some of the soil and lay and compact the crushed rubble - sometimes they can put the rubble on top of the soil and and then compact it if you don't mind the level of the garden being raised - if it needs to stay on par with the rest of the garden then it would need to be dug out they used dolomite as a base for ours and the base was laid in a day
  8. LOOKS great ,I would be interested to hear how it holds up also . I have a small muddy area that runs of my puppy run & have often thought of using this ,is there much prep needed b4 laying ??
  9. As a small child we had a Irish setter, my first memories r of walking with my dad to the vets to have poor Vicky pts .I always dreamed of owning another when I grew up ,but fell madly in love with a cocker !!!The rest is history !!
  10. Have everything u will need set up @ least 2 weeks prior to yr expected whelping date ,introduce yr bitch to her new whelping suite a week or so b4 due . Stay as calm as u can ,as yr bitch will pick up on yr feelings Refusing food is another good indication that shes getting ready to deliver .good luck
  11. Along with all the other posts, Ill add TOTAL dedication ,tough skin ,unbreakable heart,A bank acc to support yr needs ,(feeding ,vacinating ,microchipping ,registrations ,vet bills ect ect .)stamina & a sence of humor !!

  16. ;) I feel your pain ,some r just to special to stay on this earth ,run free little warrior & watch over your loved ones.
  17. ;) I see u finally got jessies coat on her ,what a princess!!
  18. Dont know much about cavs ,but cockers r also very people orientated ,& imo are best not left alone ,they dont care what u doing as long asthey can be doing it with u , they r just as happy being a lounge lizard as running through the medows !! thier coats do need regular brushing to keep free of knots ,they do not have to be clipped ,but if u choose to do so,then only every 3 mnths approx , the feet do need to be trimmed ,as does the air way around the ears , they r excellent watch dogs, but do not yap !(only to let u know someone is visiting ).they r extremly inteligent & also the biggest con artist ever , they need to be taught who is the boss from day 1
  19. IF U REALY CANT COPE SEND HER 2 ME !!!she''s pawsativley adorable !!!!
  20. lots of good advise . cockers r the biggest con artists on this earth !!!dont let a baby cocker run yr life !!!!!or u will end up with a very disobiediant dog !!!!!! She is still a baby ,& has to be taught ,just like a skin kid .It takes time ,paitiance & commitment to rear both . hang in there its early days yet . Crate training would be a good start ,a place that puppy associates with security .start by feeding her in her crate & when u cant supervise her with your skin kid ,then give her the security of her own space . Pup will be picking up on yr frustration also ,they r extremly smart & really love to please ,so keep up the praise for *good* Behaviour .
  21. SO very sorry to hear this SB ,I so feel your pain ,just one of the MANY heartaches we breeders have to deal with ,but count your blessings ,not your losses . Play free special one ,yr litter mates & Misty r waiting for u .
  22. good news heres wishing a speedy recovery .
