Cockerlover replied to 4ngi3's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Cant ansew your? re blue eye but can tell u about my 7 yr old bitch who lost her eye to a accident @ birth; so has only ever had sight in 1 eye the damaged eye was removed @ a few mnths of age ;the only difference with her is she is more sensative to smells & niose ;( :laugh:sounds funnie but not when you burn the toast)She also hangs on to 1 of my other girls ear (& has done since babyhood )ithink she is kissies other eye;But its kinda cute & makes her more appealing ;good luck with your chioce of pup;not sure that a blue eye can lead to blindness ;there are breeds with 1 blue eye. -
Vaccinations And Chipping
Cockerlover replied to I_LOVE_MY_TERRIERS's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
prices & vets vary find a good vet & you get what you pay for ;if your a breeder find a vet who gives breeder discount ;if your not & bought this pup from a registared breeder they are responsible for first vacine & microchipping (all pups must be microchipped before they are sold&have had thier first vacine;(a full health check should be included in the price of vacines) -
thats good news ;biol up the carcus from the bbq chook & make a broth with it; add a desert sp of vegimite & pour it over his kibble to make it softer he may have irritaton of the throat from the tube during op;dont give him to much fatty chicken ;but keep up the fluid intake ;stick withit sticks were thinking of ya
-
TRY raw carrots; also have you checked her teeth/gums ?may have infectionif breathis smelly! :D
-
did your vet not give you a after op care information sheet?if he hasnt inproved by the end of today I would be ringing the vet for advise ;but to me it all seems normal a reaction to the anesetic causing vomiting ;but I wouldnt reduce his fluid intake; dogs k now what they need ;hope he is bouncing around (NOT LITERALLY)2day ;please keep us updated
-
Sticks & dogs a bad combo!!can do a lot of damage; especially to pups ;have you tried raw cold carrots good for teething pups& also cleans the teeth
-
Try bathing him with malasab shampoo& maybe lookinto allergy tests
-
I think a vets advise is needed here good luck
-
I know the bush your talking about but cant recall the name ;i have heard of other pets being allergic to it ;have you tried bathing her with malasab shampoo thats good for skin allergies Good luck!
-
it affects the very young & older dogs more ;I think it is worse for us as owners than it is for the dog cause it sounds so awfull & to my knowledge there is not much we as humans can do as said in previous post antibiotics are only prescribed for complications; rest easy ;dogs will be fine in a few days we trust

Not Eating Long Term Issues
Cockerlover replied to cowanbree's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I have an8 year old bitch who refuses to eat on a regular basis there is nothing wrong with her @ all im convinsed it is an attention seeking hunger strike ;so now i just ignore her ifshe dosnt eat i give her food to the others in her sight! next feed shes away !its a worry i know; but if youve had him vet checked try ignoring the silly game; -
it sounds like kc to me you can give him honey i warm water to ease it a bit also let him sit in a seamy room EG bathroom next time ou take a shower that sometimes helps a bit ;
-
is he showing any signs of discomfort;or vomiting?
-
imo it is not normall for cc to last that long;unless he has been re infected whilst at the kennels .how old is he ?
-
I always make a big deal out of worming eg fry some skinny sausages give them a piece each with no tab; then push tab into next bit of sausage & give again thier so happy to get 2 treats they forget 1 is baited LOL good luck
-
(about a desert spn in each meal)try adding yogurt with aphdoficus to his food (bland)till stools firm up ;but also vet check as paddle pop stick could have done some damage; good luck
-
if you must clip why not just do the belly & do a dam good strip with a marscoat king better than the furminator
-
dont feel bad you couldnt do a perfect job !some dogs (not to mention the owners)are a lot more trouble than others ;you can only do what you can do & @ least youhad the dogs welfare @ heart more than can be said for the owner it seems ;Id be talking to owner re pain relief & more regular grooms with you or tell them its just not fair to put he poor little darlin through it; good luck ;I do find that the restraints help with awkwark dogs;but he may be in to much pain to use them
-
I would be going to vets ;just to be sure ;when was she last wormed?worms are not always visabl.e she could have b locked anul glands or just being silly but id check it out @ vets better to be safe than sorry
-
I would check it out yourself if it dosnt look infected & is heaing well ;so be it ;but if you dont have to pay for revisit & vets is not a camping trip away;then take him back for checkup ;good luck
-
I give my teething pups cold raw carrots; make sure he is just teehing & dosnt have a gum infection
-
