  3. In A recent litter of pups, Ihad a litlte boy with a severe hurt murmer graded@ 5 out of 6! was told he had no chance!but a couple purchased a healthy pup from that litter & fell in love with charlie (heart boy)I gave them charlie with the knowledge that he may not live very long @ all ,but they wanted to give him a happy life with his litter brother for as long as he had ??hense he was called Charlie Chance ,well some 18mnths down the track they had reason to go to another vet for grass seed probs ,they asked re charlies heart condition & on examination he was downgraded to a 2,& is expected to live a perfectly normal life with his litter brother whom he is on par with in all activities !!!.If u realy want this pup ,go for it with an open mind ,(but u sould not have to pay for it)heres hoping he/she is as lucky as Charlie
  4. Welcome! welcome !welcome! Charles ,how great it is to have a *real*vet jion the forum !!!thanx for yr explanation on heart murmurs.
  5. Has the pups been wormed regulary ?it could be the cause ,if it hasnt, but Iwould be making sure of this & that the anul glands were expressed @ vet check.
  6. imo ,it would be best to wait till he can be bathed first ,not all groomers will clip an unwashed coat, as it stuffs the clippers!also would get a better result if coat is clean ,good luck with him.
  7. well anythings worth a try !!but id be yelling all day @ various disasters !but thats ok cause my niebours & every one that knows me thinks im nuts anyway!!!

  15. why not jusy make it from mince bound together with egg place in cake tin & freeze before serving out (DEFROST it first though )7 decorate it with sardines or someting u could also blend some raw vegies in the mix !!we want pics b4 its devowed!!!!
  16. I too agree with u ;re advertising ;isnt the main purpose for being a breeder (or @ least one of the many)TO EDUCATE !!the uneducated out there; re the upmost inportance of buying your lifetime commitment /friend ;from a reputable reg breeder ,,who will walk to the end of this earth to assist any buyer in any way possible, so as not to buy from a byb or pet shop!!I like ,im sure many other rep breeders ,spend many hours trying ;(regaurdless of wether i make a sale or not)to explain the whys & wherefors of sellecting not just the puppy but the Breeder conserned ,to me each is as inportant as the other!!
  17. HI;what a wonderful chioce!! all the advise you have been given is spot on;DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER getting (cheap)cocker ;you are buying trouble! conntact your canine council & ask for reg breeders ;also the cocker spaniel society of your state;do a lot of research before you decide.you want a breeder that offers a life time support .I also suggest unless you know of the breeder, then purchase from your own state ;so you can visit parents of pup ; whilst cockers are great with kids,, you do not want to introduce a( sour ).dog to a small child,The idear of taking on an older dog is great, providing it has been well socialised& meets the standards set in previous posts .Wishing you every succsess in your search .
  18. firstly cut out the canned crap!!!that exactly what it is !do not leave food down for nibbles & reduce feeds by half adding mashed pumpkin as a filler;more exercise will also help & you will find your dog will want it; when she looses the excess wieght ;you have to be( what u think is cruel) to b kind sometimes
  19. I have one that i have never used if u are desparate!!but i think they r available through pet net work or the vet shed
  20. Different!!to say the least please keep us posted re vets advise;a friend of mine had a child with 2 thumbs!!they simply removed the extra one!!!

  23. 14 weeks!!!Id be changing my vet!!! never heard of vac for heartworm @ that age!!!!maybe 6mnths or so; but never that young :i have to agree with all other posts prior to mine ;forget the vac !!!.... go with the monthly tabs .
  24. I am not in the buisness of grooming; but when i sell a puppy to anyone i also include the basic grooming tools in the cost. I do groom a lot of my buyers pups; but if they come back with knots or matts or dirty ears; i tell them if the pup returns to me in that state again; i will report them to the rspca;shock horror ;then you get the BUT!!!there are no buts as far as i am conserned ;if you buy a long coated dog you must brush it every day ;is the first thing i tell prospective buyers!! whilst the idiots r blaming you the groomers ;they dont have to take responsobility for them selves!!
  25. not sure but i thin its the same as humans under the atm pits
